As an American, my introduction to tom was a game show "The Marriage Ref." I became a fan of his delivery on the game show, but it plays out in his stand up. He's so great at making fun of regular life.

Tom needs a better bread knife... and it's easier to slice if you flip the bread over and slice from the bottom. Great conversation!!! Tom and Jimmy together at first seemed odd, but this was brilliant. Thanks Tom... hugs from an old gal in Canada.

Trying to imagine Jimmy and Kat having waffles together....please make that a podcast. But on topic, I appreciate that Jimmy understands and expresses that audiences can be smart enough to parse out jokes vs. points from which we can learn and grow. follow on edit: This is a great discussion exposing the genius of Jimmy. finally, Nikki was great on the roast, but tony Hinchcliffe was absolutely to best of the show.

Thanks so much for this, Tom and Jimmy! I really enjoyed this
I can’t quite see your slicing technique on my phone screen, but unsolicited bread-slicing idea (from a grilled cheese sandwich fan that’s a bit picky about slice conformity…):
I find that with ornery rounded loaves, where it can be difficult to finesse the knife into taking that first “bite” of the crust because of an unpredictable buckle-and-squoosh quotient, it can be helpful to turn the knife on its side a bit with the serration aimed toward the center of the loaf.
Once it’s “bitten” through the crust with a couple strokes of the blade, then tip the knife vertical again, and continue the cut 🙂

My dad took me to the Santa Monica Civic auditorium to see Shelly Berman and another time to see Bill Cosby in the early 60’s. They drew big crowds thanks to their records. That was a big place for LA. Later I saw Richard Pryor at the Troubadour, which was a smaller club, while the bands like Cream were at the Civic. The size of the venues shrank for a while in LA for comedy and is now back again.

Comedy doesn’t require the high fidelity that music does. Listening to music over a laptop or a phone misses the point. But comedy works.

Jimmy is right, comedy both live and on youtube or on some other streaming services is blowing up. As he points out, the quality and variety has never been better and just about every comedian has a podcast (IMO that is better than the late night shows), and a youtube channel that has a catalog of their work. I would suspect that older mediums are fading quickly, less on revised viewers habits of time shifting versus appointment viewing, and more because the quality of their offerings. Traditional TV constricts and censors comic's material, and who cares about vapid actors promoting their projects and disposable pop music acts that liter their shows.
