Snoop was a rapper that white America loved at the time. He wasn't really seen as a threat as other hardcore artists who had hardcore beats accompanying their hardcore lyrics. America loved the production of Dre so much that they ignored the same hardcore lyrics Snoop was saying. I don't know if Death Row purposefully marketed Snoop this way but that was the outcome.
NWA was seen as major threat. Most TV and Radio stations refused to play their music and the FBI famously sent them a letter blaming them for the deaths of police officers. NWA had a huge impact but they weren't embraced by MTV, BET, and White America the same way Snoop was.
White America loved all the rappers at the time. From the most militant Public Enemy to every use of the N word by Amerikkka's Most Ice Cube. Black people don't have the resources to make Snoop Dogg the biggest Artist in the world in 1994. White people bought most of the hip-hop and most of the black music, they buy the NBA tickets, they watch the black movies. White people have always been able to separate celebrity from reality. Black people have always been great entertainment for white people. Celebrities are "different" than black people for white America. You can find the same white people that grew up listening to PE, KRS-One, NWA, and 2Pac are today some of the most racist people around. Denying black people employment, shooting black teenagers from patrol cars, and denying black people loans. Cliff Huxtable is cool on TV but he better not move next door.
@@youngfig1 I can confirm. I was a white boy in the '90s and every hip hop show I went to was 99% white. J5, Pharcyde, Cypress Hill, Wu-Tang, Del, Tribe Called Quest, Digable Planets, etc. almost all white people at the show. I remember looking around and being confused wondering where are the black people? It might have been a different story at the hardcore gangsta rap shows.
+Alex G good eazy reference, but honestly, barely anybody crossed Suge Knight, he was the real deal. He's most of the reason why death row was notorious.
@Dollfather Maybe he wasn't a Blood, but that doesn't change what Suge Knight actually did - dude still extorted/threatened/beat the shit out of numerous people and had a dangerous reputation because of it.
this was Dec 1993 not 94. I remember because I was like 14 at the time and it was a brand new song it was so new I dont think it was even in the top 10 yet. I know by January 1994 it was a hiiiit!!!
I like Dre talking about bootlegging. To this day, a lot of different companies that work with different try to combat piracy while Dr. Dre back in 1994 is just like "yeah, that'll keep happening and we can't do anything about it." And he's right
hip hop was so good back then, the sound, the clothes, the mentality, the lyrics, the variety. Its fucking dead now. Everything out now is mainstream trash
@@musahaque2000 bro I will never know what it will be like to grow up in the 70s cause I was not born then to experience it. Sure I can look back and watch videos and listen to the music but trust me bro, to be a kid and ALIVE at that time was like no other. Thats all I was saying :)
I randomly stumbled into a private Snoop show in west hollywood last month and Daz and Kurupt were just coolin it on stage with him. some things never change
In 1992 college football season. Miami Canes got the best linebackers in the universe. But Canes lost them all in 1993 draft. So Canes went it to 1993 season with pretty unknown linebackers. Miami defense used this song as their battle cry entering 1993 season. The season was pretty disastrous. They got murdered by FSU, lost to West Virginia and in bowl game, UA Wildcats killed them 29-0.
Moise Picard Snoop was the number one rapper by a mile at this point. 2pac didn't blow past Snoop until he got out of jail and that was because Dre didn't do Snoops second album and it wasn't as good Doggystyle which is one of top 5 albums in rap history.
can smb send a link or does someone have this version with dogg pound...i have the original, but the moment when they start singing together is a pure eargasm
The beat makes this song
I'm Surprised That Undertaker Didn't Use This Mid 1993 As His Entrance Theme It'd Be The First Time Undertaker Used Rap As His Entrance
The lyrics and flow as well don't leave that out yell
Tha whole song iz dope
Tha samplez, lyricz, beatz, flow, even tha clean verzion iz koo
The song makes this beat
dr dre and snoop dogg made some of the greatest songs of alk time
Noah Schwartz they need do another track good collaboration
There’s a song called Imagine. From Snoops Blue Carpet treatment album, and that song is very underrated. It’s an absolute banger.
I think it's funny that the top comment on this badass video has the word "all" misspelled

Which is funny because snoop now is not so much a fan of white people 😂😂
Mike Larry lies it always was mostly white Boys at rap concerts in da 90s

the good old days at first snoop was hottest rapper in the world more popular than 2pac,biggie,and Jay z
Reggie Macon still more popular...
Reggie Macon Snoop was never more bigger than 2Pac and he never will be.
