    I like how that kid fell, came back to all the way to first place before shutting down, and the commentators didn't say a single thing 😂 😂 😂 it's like he wasn't even part of the race LOL

      I was going to race him last week but coach pulled us out of the meet unfortunately. Probably would’ve destroyed me either way

      My guess is the commentator was looking down at his notes or something. It was still odd tough because that sequence occurred over the space of about 1/2 the track with no mention lol.

    A little over 60 for the first lap and 54 for the second. The fast guys knew their only chance was to go out slow and to try to outsprint Kessler. Almost worked.

      @@joeysinsane4283 He had no chance to beat Kessler. Hobbs runs sub 1:50 when he is trying. Today was just about doing the minimum effort to get the W at the High School state meet. He just ran the US HS national record in the 1500M less than a week ago and he has the Olympic trials in two weeks. He ran a 4:15 1600M to win, when he is capable of running close to 3:51. Nobody in this race had a chance.

      @@staceman7981 yea I meant about this race, Hobbs had already run a 800 relay and the mile before and it was close to 90 degrees today, (so the fact that he still ran a solid 800 is amazing). But if Connor vachon didn’t trip he’d be right in there with him

      @@user-ln8ml9nt4o Agreed. Very tough break for him. While I doubt he would have been able to beat Hobbs, I would never wish such bad luck on a young kid. You want everyone to get a fair shot at the win given that these are typically once in a lifetime opportunities.

    If you saw him pump his arms at the finish line you understand that this still meant a lot to him. Winning state is important but the way he raced is even more impressive

      I’m always shocked when athletes just let someone take them on the inside. I even watch professional track athletes allow that crap. Such poor tactical running. Dumb.

    He can run a much faster 800m than 1:54 as that's slow for a guy that ran 3:34 for 1500m. You can tell he was just playing in that race. Outstanding runners like this don't come around very often. Not only did he break the national 1500m highschool record but his time was better than the NCAA record too! Incredible!

      That and he was probably DEAD TIRED from running a balls out 1:47 earlier in the day. He was literally praying for it to be a sit and kick for which he would win most likely (also saves his strength for bigger priorities).

    Wonderful kid in the green shirt fell over, and was back in the shot 6 seconds later, promptly took the lead - expending all his anaerobic energy. Should have eased his way through. I always remember Rob de Castella talk about that and it's the one thing that stuck with me. Nonetheless, he has true grit and that quality will ensure he is going places.

      @matt Harvey see I never ran anything longer than 400 in hs, neither did I ever cover the distance faster than 54 seconds, so yeah. Centro and Engels better stay on top of American mid distance as long as they can

    62 first half, 52 second half if you go by the times on the video. 1:54 and change total. 0:31, lapt 2 starts at 1:33, then finishes at 2:25.xx.

    The guy that finished 2nd deserved to finish 2nd. Pushing out to the 2nd lane to prevent someone from passing you on the outside, but then gets passed on the inside. It makes me happy when I see this.

    I can't say much good about the narration on this race. As in the 1600 there was no times given at the splits . Also why couldn't they also have had a running time on the screen?

    Announcer is a "maroon", Hobbs took the baton in the 4X800 relay at least 10 yards back and almost won that race too. This Kid is going to be a generational talent. The announcer should use his excellent voice to just read other peoples words. Like buy these pancakes, they are yummy! IMHO

      The best runners come from this state. My high school classmate had the fastest 1500 meter time in the world in 1995. Also, the best runners now are all bred in the state of Michigan.

    Jesus, that's some awful commentary. Kid falls down and then races back to the front and gets no mention. He doesn't call out any 400 splits followed by 30 seconds of dead air (mercifully) and then doesn't announce the final time at the line. Guy oughta be ashamed of himself. It's like he chose this for his community service sentence.
