I think Craig handled himself very well and professionally under the circumstances. Craig wasn't marketable to the mainstream market..

Most definitely, Dre and Snoop were huge, Pac was starting to blow up, Eazy-E was still the godfather of the west coast helping Bone Thugs to become huge as well, Ice Cube was still a major in the rap game, Warren G just came out with huge bangers, Coolio too… The east had Biggie becoming NY’s finest, Wu-Tang was the biggest rap group in the world with Method Man releasing his first album, Nas just made the greatest rap album ever, Craig Mack made the greatest rap song in a while, Gang Starr was making the underground go crazy, damn it was crazy. Can’t forget about the south, Outkast was the biggest thing down there, plus 69 Boyz and all the Miami Bass scene was bigger than G-Funk and Boom Bap down in Florida, Scarface was becoming bigger and bigger and UGK were making hits down there too

MTV Raps that he was working with Mack on his second album, which was to be released sometime in January the following year, this proved to not be the case. Present at that interview (which also included The Notorious B.I.G.), Mack himself appeared puzzled by the statement.
I just watched that segment on youtube (maybe it wasnt the whole thing) and puff never mentions anything about a second album. . hmmm
