Something that I thought was really awesome about Josh in comparison to other guest artist mentors that night is that Josh didn’t feel the need to show off any crazy vocals during the duets so the contestants specifically could shine. Everything he did vocally was strong as always, but highlighted both Ava and Beane (like it should be since they’re the ones competing and in this moment it was about them). It definitely made a difference too because they had the best performances that night. Josh should think about doing Masterclasses with young singers more often because he’s really good at it!

I don't think a better performance has graced an American idol stage to date, better than Ava and Josh. That is the absolute peak of talent. I come back to it every couple of months just to get to listen to it again.
This performance made me cry when I first listened to it. My mama used to sing this to me on our porch swing at our old house while playing her guitar. ♡♡♡
