i’ve been wanting a Scion xB since i was a kid and i’m learning as much as i can. i just bought my first xB 2 days ago and right side Headlight is out so i started watching the videos as to how to replace it and now i’m just enjoying watching the rest of your videos while i wait for parts to come.
Just picked up a 06 xb 5-speed manual. With 97,000 original miles. Absolutely killer car. I had a 99 forester for the last 2 years wife hated it.. wouldn’t even try to drive it. Now I have to fight her for the scion keys. 😂 Can’t wait to do this intake in the next couple weeks. Plan on doing quite a few things you have shown on your channel. Stellar work sir. ❤
My grandpa had one and got the yellow limited release and he had a cold air intake as well but I think it's got less bends but he passed last year. 😢 However he left it to me and I think I'm quite lucky
Bought my 05xb off the showroom floor in late 04 it was driven by my wife until she had a stroke about 6years ago now I've taken over it since she is 100# disabled and can't drive but watching you has really made me want to hook this little car up so as old as it is it's in great shape so keep putting out the videos because I need pointers on these little cars ,I must say I always liked it even though it's not my 4x4 Tacoma which is a 04 it was a left over and I bought both of them the same week.sorry off subject but your xb is very cool and I'm really enjoying your channel I subed and am in process of watching all your vids so any way just thought I'd let you know very cool hobby thanks for your knowledge on the Xb platform .
Where were you 2 years ago. Lol. I had that old set up right after I bought my box. Had sensor issues so went back stock. I will definitely will try this one next. Thanks for your videos . iam so inspired by you I have the same box like yours as my daily go to work car.
If I did xB video's everyday, it would be a lot more talking and less working. There are a lot of channels like that now on RUclips, but unfortunately my channel isn't there yet. Maybe someday! Thanks for watching!
Just purchased all the equipment to do the BLOX filter. Super excited to see what it sounds like and how it performs. Links need a little help. Thank you
Also about that weird breather hose, I always thought that its some kind of a PCV or something, oil and gas come out of that tube when the crankcase needs to relieve pressure from the upper cylinders... But your theory makes sense too... Congrats on the amazing set up!
It does have VTEC, well at least Toyotas version. The don't need that tube. It's just a way for engine builders to recirculate gas. Thanks for watching!
Very very interesting setup, I like it‼️💯love the creativity! On another note, INJEN actually makes a short ram intake which is pretty much the same exact setup that you have right now. I personally ran that for a few years and LOVED it. Absolutely love the xB vlogs my man, keep it up👌🏼👊🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Thanks!! Yeah, DC Sports also makes one similar, however the filter is much smaller and doesn't have the ram horn. That's the really difference between this set up and the other options. Also, I forget to mention in the video, the Yaris battery is 5lbs lighter than the stock battery. Every pound counts!
Hey man watch this video a few days ago after Installing my headlights and I change my intake pipe and air filter.... thanks your for sharing this vid bod
a bearing press. lol i just did my front hubs on my xb 05. it was a hassle. i had to cut the bearing race off the spindle and then used a press kit rental from autozone. i had no vice and those bearings require some elbow grease. i was able to do it but took my time . i changed the rear before , its easy but the front was really tough . theres lots of incomplete xb front hub replacement vids on youtube. however i did it and it works. saved almost 800 dollars and i bought japanese hks bearings
I like to think u hid the filter seam for me. :p jokes aside...looks clean man. My Honda Fit runs a straight pipe like that which utilizes the OEM hood scoop. U might still want to consider running fender liners since it's a straight shot for water in TB..idk how much rain u get. The tires fling a surprising amount of water. On my xa I ran some black RV sewer hose to scoop air from the lower grill and blow on my filter. I used speaker box ports shoved on each end to clean up the look and air flow a bit...and also to have a solid piece to zip tie each end to something. Keep em coming!!
I've seen a few videos mythbusting "cold air intakes". They actually cause you to lose hp. Especially if it's sucking hot engine air. They sound good, yeah I agree. I've had one on almost every single car I've owned. But dynos don't lie. Open air filter= less hp. Don't believe me do research. Also. I have a 04 xb.
I have an 04 aswell. I have the KN&N short ram/CAI, and according to their dyno figures you get something near 8hp in gains. Not sure about other products but I think it does what it’s supposed to do. Standing water is something I do over worry about.
You have been the most help for me. My mechanic just put a new engine in my scion xb 2005, I was wondering if you knew where I could research hose diagrams to check whats missing? Thank you for all the videos im going to organize my wires next I love your entrepreneurship
Like your video. I just inherited a 2006 scion xb with original 50,000 miles. It runs great ,passed communist California smog no problem only problem vsc, brake, and trac lights are all on. A couple mechanics say 1) check all they are good need to change something electrical cluster forgot what they said $1000 not doing that 2) change relay for vsc $75 no luck. Any good suggestions would be appreciated. Thx
Don't listen to the mechanics. Get a code reader. I have done several videos on how to read the codes and where to go from there. Just watch a couple of videos and you'll be in good shape.
Extreme Daily Drivers I don’t mind AT. I have a 4 speed AT on my 2015 Scion xB2.5 yeah bigger engine and more power and torque. But I agree, that 5 speed manual is definitely more fun. How many miles u got on right now?
I think this setup would work well for my old 2001 corolla. I really like that filter. Dam, those tires chirp! Reminds me of my old sentra spec v! My Corolla has header, celica intake manifold and throttle body, but stock intake box. All the short rams for 8th gen corolla put the filter by the header! I want a straight short ram like yours.
Awesome video once again. I’m selling my 06 Scion XB well maintained 205k $3500 located in Houston. New mounts, starter, alternator, plugs and more. Also white in color.
I was wondering if I install this in my 2005 Scion xB will I still need the other air filter on the other side as well? I am guessing probably. I sure hope I have some success in this new air filter. Thank you for the video!
Dude, the box sounds gnarly! I was watching the vid in my box and had the phone plugged in to the stereo and for a second thought the sound was my xB then reality hit. Badass bro, really badass. Have you considered spraying the battery hold bar to match the color scheme of the engine bay?
@EXTREMELYDAILYDRIVERS At 13:32, holy shit. With a 5 speed manual it’s got a very good kick to it by front tires scream a bit. I love it. Much more affected than AT that’s for sure. And I am so happy to see a how it looks when u drive a manual xB1😍😍😍😍😍 if I have money I would love to get another xB with a 5 speed manual. It be hard for me to find a very rare 2015 Scion xB 686 parkland edition with a 5 speed manual. That’s gonna be very rare to find one. But xB1 just get a manual. What xB gen do u prefer and why? P.S. 1.5L 1NZ-FE at best.😎🙌🏼
Gen 1 all the way. Gen 2 isn't a bad car, I just wish they didn't call it an xB because it isn't. Everything that made the 1st Gen great was removed to make the 2nd Gen. It does have great AC though!
love your videos set up is almost the same as the dc sport sri i have in my 04 im doing the battery switch though brilliant. do i need to change the ground wire or can i leave it as is?
Omg this is amazing!!! Too bad i cant copy for my gen2 XB sad i need to look for new mod since original casing is messed up from a shit shop that fucked up all kinds of stuff only to replace head gasket.
Do you think it was noticeable improvement from last setup? not the long version. I have an injen now but will change if you think it was a game changer.
Honestly, yes, but it's very slight. No matter what we do, these cars will never be fast or quick or anything like that, but in theory, this is the best set up because of the straight through design, filter location, high flow filter and badassery. :)
Wats ur thoughts on a snorkel setup. Im thinkin of doin a 2 inch lift, with all terrain tires, and suspension components of an 07 rav 4, with a snorkel intake. For my 06 xb.
Does the Blox Racing 2.5 Kit come with the correct size air filter, or do you need to purchase a separate filter? The 5" Shorty Filter you linked is no longer available.
The gas or oil mist is recirculated through the engine on the stock setup. It's fine to remove. It's been removed on the Prelude for years with no ill effects. Not changing your oil or adding additives is what causes sludge. Thanks for watching!
@EXTREMEDAILYDRIVERS Now some people say that the CAI system only makes sounds. It’s not entirely true. CAI system is not only makes nicer sound, but also it gains the mpg, it gains 5-6 hp and 5.5 ibs pounds of torque, and breathes better. So what’s ur opinion about that? Do u think it’s true of what I said about it gains hp,torque, mpg, more efficient, and breath better? Plus was there a check engine light or maintenance light on for the CAI? Because supposed u would have to adjust a computer so that it reads properly. What are ur thoughts on that?
Just wondering, the setup you had before you installed this new one, does it only consist of...... the intake elbow, maf mount and the cold air filter? Is there any other hose or connections to add, I’m planning to do that setup for my current xB.
I wasn't a fan because the air filter rested against the brake master cylinder and there was no way to fix it. You could feel vibrations through the brake pedal. And it was in the worst possible location for horsepower because of the heat coming off of the header. The custom intake is 1000 times better.
I essentially show you how to do it in this video. You just need to tie your positive battery terminal to the positive post on the starter. It's easy. Thanks for watching!
hey man how does it fare when it rains? I know you live in florida and pretty sure its wet and rainy out there. Did you have to get a hydroshield on it or just running it as is? I got a similar DC sports intake and wanna make sure to not hydrolock my motor lol
Can you tell me if you are grounded to the block and the frame? I only see the one that goes to the frame here... Let me know because I'm about to do this install and this is the last thing I need to figure out. Original wire comes of the engine and splits to the frame and the battery. Thanks!
Bought my toaster with an aem installed already. Get a good amount of rain where i live. Scares me to drive it. How has this been during heavy rains? Stay pretty dry?
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers Just curious - in the video you are making a new pos wire (red) but you didn't use that from what I can tell... but you did make a new neg/ground (black) wire, correct? I have all the parts for this but I want to make sure that you only need to make a longer ground and not a new positive cable. Also, I should ask, is it safe to do this intake with a stock exhaust?
Hey brotha. Do you knw another place to get the silicone reducer coupler ID 2.5-2.25? The link you have isn’t working anymore and I’ve been having trouble finding it.
I’ve tried a couple, they don’t fit the aluminum maf housing listed in the description. Just wondering if you have a rock auto part number for the maf you used, thanks
Did your car ever throw a lean code for this mod? I bought my car used and it has a cold air intake already but the filter is a PITA to get to for cleaning. I want something more accessible, thank you
I was looking for the blox racing filter kit but couldn't find it any longer on their site I was wondering if this would be the same thing? I am going to post the link as a reply comment to this comment because theres a high chance if i put the link here it'll go to your spam folder.
Hey buddy I went looking for that adapter on Amazon but I don't think the seller exist or no longer makes the item? Do you happen to know where I can find it for my 06 xB ?
A lot of people do this mod. Looks like it is out of stock. Keep an eye on it and I'm sure it will be available to buy again soon. Thanks for watching.
He had a vacuum leak. I had this intake along with countless other people without a cel. If you are afraid of getting a cel, this mod isn't for you. Actually, I wouldn't recommend any performance mods if you are scared of getting a cel. They can be part of the game. But again, to answer your question I had this intake for years and no cel. You can see in the video and my other videos that show the dash that there isn't a check engine light on. Thanks for watching.
I need help installing my lower ball joints on my 3rd gen prelude. I have a press but the upper part of the knuckle gets in the way. I wanted to ask how you did it?
I bought this setup and put it on exactly the way that you did. Car runs like crap and was throwing codes. I replaced the MAF with a new one and still ran like crap. Any idea what’s up?
Your car will run like crap until your ECU learns how to cope with the new air. It usually takes about 30 minutes of driving different speeds. This is the case with any modern car and any performance upgrade.
i’ve been wanting a Scion xB since i was a kid and i’m learning as much as i can. i just bought my first xB 2 days ago and right side Headlight is out so i started watching the videos as to how to replace it and now i’m just enjoying watching the rest of your videos while i wait for parts to come.
Nice! I hope you are getting some good ideas! xB's are arguably the greatest car ever made.
Right on! Thx. Your white Scion looks cool.
Thanks!
Well, once again it looks like you convinced me to spend money 😂 awesome video 👍
Glad to hear it!

Just want to say thank you! Did this set up 3 days ago and I’m loving it! Definitely woke my toaster up! Thank you for the awesome vids!

Hell yeah! You'll love it!
Canada here.."yes sir, the sweet sweet sound of air sucking clean, good install, keep 'ear clean, play dirty...one love
The highlight to my Tuesday are these videos👍
Mine too!
Grrrrr.. Gonna save money for this upgrade.. nice..
This is a excellent set up, you should get a little more low end torque for round town driving with a short ram.👍🏽🇺🇸🇯🇲🌴☀️🌴
Waah gwaan Junior Lex. You very diverse man
got my xb for my 18th bday. Did subs and head unit. got some 15x8s for it and next is the cold air intake 😎
Good choice!

I was right here on RUclips! But I was mostly building my Prelude. Good luck with the install! Still no issues and lots of people have done this mod.
Love all the toaster Tuesday but like can we get a toaster everyday?

Mom's Yaris is about to get the sickest +4HP gain when I put this intake setup on it 😂 Great video!
That’s so sick!!!!! Yeah I’m gonna have to copy your homework!
Please do!!! That's why I do these videos!!

a bearing press. lol i just did my front hubs on my xb 05. it was a hassle. i had to cut the bearing race off the spindle and then used a press kit rental from autozone. i had no vice and those bearings require some elbow grease. i was able to do it but took my time . i changed the rear before , its easy but the front was really tough . theres lots of incomplete xb front hub replacement vids on youtube. however i did it and it works. saved almost 800 dollars and i bought japanese hks bearings

Nice man, I'll probably use this set up for mine
I love it. It's similar to a lot of aftermarket setups, but none of them allow you to use the Blox filter, and that's what really is the difference.
Love your scion dude. I got me an 06 looking pretty good to.
Right on! Welcome to the club!
Just found your channel and love the xb1 content! Solid video production too! Keep it up 😃
Thank you!! New xB video later today!

Oh my god the way it drives with a 5 speed manual xB1 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
You have to get this car in a 5-speed. It's soooo slow in an auto.

Wondering if this setup would pass Smog in Cali, love the videos so excited to get my own XB
I highly doubt it.
Impressive. im having a hard time , or was until now, choosing an intake setup for my 2005 xb but im sure this has solved it. Great vid bro
Glad it helped

Fastest in the Universe, actually. Thanks for watching!!

Not for a while. The xB fans had to wait a long time for videos. Now it's time for Prelude fans to be patient.

somewhat confused on the wiring for the battery, where would I start to rewrite the terminal wiring in order to eliminate the mess of wires?

No
Does the Blox Racing 2.5 Kit come with the correct size air filter, or do you need to purchase a separate filter? The 5" Shorty Filter you linked is no longer available.
You need the 5" filter, it won't work without it. If it's not listed on Amazon it's because they are out of stock. It should be back.
Gotta comment! Xb! X🐝
love this mod. Did you do a before and after on the dyno for the box?
Sorry, no.
Do not plug that hole....get a oil catch can. And run it to that and then back to the intake....it helps pull sludge from inside the valve cover.
Also should do it for the pcv as well in this case for the breather hose. Just saying. 260000 xb still clunking along 😂
The gas or oil mist is recirculated through the engine on the stock setup. It's fine to remove. It's been removed on the Prelude for years with no ill effects. Not changing your oil or adding additives is what causes sludge. Thanks for watching!

The custom intake is 1000 times better.
nice! where did get that strut bar?
It came with the car.
Please do a big three upgrade with lengths, it's my next mod to my xb 👍🏻
I essentially show you how to do it in this video. You just need to tie your positive battery terminal to the positive post on the starter. It's easy. Thanks for watching!
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers and the alternator 👍🏻that'd be the big 4 lol I read the reviews on the wire you bought and they aren't very forgiving 😬
hey man how does it fare when it rains? I know you live in florida and pretty sure its wet and rainy out there. Did you have to get a hydroshield on it or just running it as is? I got a similar DC sports intake and wanna make sure to not hydrolock my motor lol
No issues. You'll be fine. Keep your fender shields.
Can you tell me if you are grounded to the block and the frame? I only see the one that goes to the frame here... Let me know because I'm about to do this install and this is the last thing I need to figure out. Original wire comes of the engine and splits to the frame and the battery. Thanks!
The battery is ground to both stock locations. Good luck!
I didn't read the 280 previous comments. I'm just going to ask if this needs to get changed out at smog time or if this is smog legal?
Check out the previous comments for the answer.
Bought my toaster with an aem installed already. Get a good amount of rain where i live. Scares me to drive it. How has this been during heavy rains? Stay pretty dry?
Dry as a bone. Thanks for watching.
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers thanks bud. Just wish i could find these parts. They are all out
Where do you install the wire you put on? You showed how to cut and everything else but where did you install it to?
The ground wire was reinstalled in the factory location. Both of them.
I should have added this to my previous comment but what exhaust do you have on your box?
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers Just curious - in the video you are making a new pos wire (red) but you didn't use that from what I can tell... but you did make a new neg/ground (black) wire, correct? I have all the parts for this but I want to make sure that you only need to make a longer ground and not a new positive cable. Also, I should ask, is it safe to do this intake with a stock exhaust?
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks!
Hey brotha. Do you knw another place to get the silicone reducer coupler ID 2.5-2.25? The link you have isn’t working anymore and I’ve been having trouble finding it.
Fixed! Here you go.
amzn.to/2HNCBBL
Thanks!
Got this setup almost there but can’t find a MAF for a 2006 scion xa that fits? Any links? Thanks!
You should be able to find a MAF at any auto parts store. Thanks for watching.
I’ve tried a couple, they don’t fit the aluminum maf housing listed in the description. Just wondering if you have a rock auto part number for the maf you used, thanks
does the strut tower brace improve the handling without beating up the ride?
Yes, it is a noticeable difference and does not effect the ride.
Did your car ever throw a lean code for this mod? I bought my car used and it has a cold air intake already but the filter is a PITA to get to for cleaning. I want something more accessible, thank you
Nope. Never.
I was looking for the blox racing filter kit but couldn't find it any longer on their site I was wondering if this would be the same thing? I am going to post the link as a reply comment to this comment because theres a high chance if i put the link here it'll go to your spam folder.
Just use the link in the description. Thanks for watching.
can we make another scion xb
Absolutely. You can build whatever you want!
What is the best set up for cool air intake for a gen 2 xb ??
Don't know. Never had one.
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers they dint make it anymore at all
I have the same scion and put a CAI on and it seems like a MAF sensor issues and throws codes. Do you have a specific MAF sensor adapter or something
Did you watch the video?
Where did u get the plug for the hose?
The guy from oil and gears had this Intake and had a cel ?? You haven't had any problems with it yet ?
He had a vacuum leak. I had this intake along with countless other people without a cel. If you are afraid of getting a cel, this mod isn't for you. Actually, I wouldn't recommend any performance mods if you are scared of getting a cel. They can be part of the game. But again, to answer your question I had this intake for years and no cel. You can see in the video and my other videos that show the dash that there isn't a check engine light on. Thanks for watching.
I have an 06 scion xb would love to add the same set up can you tell me all the info I need to get the same set up
Are you serious? Did you watch the video?
Dammit man, now I have to try that LOL. looks like a good idea tho
Thanks!
I need help installing my lower ball joints on my 3rd gen prelude. I have a press but the upper part of the knuckle gets in the way. I wanted to ask how you did it?
You have to get creative. I rented a ball joint press from the local auto parts store to remove them. It's still a terrible job. Good luck!!
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers how did you take out the bearings?
Master can u install a vertical door in toyota bb .
Is it 1996?
I bought this setup and put it on exactly the way that you did. Car runs like crap and was throwing codes. I replaced the MAF with a new one and still ran like crap. Any idea what’s up?
Your car will run like crap until your ECU learns how to cope with the new air. It usually takes about 30 minutes of driving different speeds. This is the case with any modern car and any performance upgrade.
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers ok great thanks bro.
