Innerspace - Cowboy/Jack Switcheroo

- Crazy scene from the movie INNERSPACE. Tuck Pendleton (Dennis Quaid) has altered Jack's (Martin Short) face to look like the Cowboy's (Robert Picardo) in an attempt to retrieve the chip that will re-enlarge the miniaturized Tuck, who is currently stuck inside Jack's body.
Also featuring Fiona Lewis, a young Meg Ryan, and the late Kevin McCarthy.
No copyright infringement intended. This is a very fun movie, readily available on DVD from Warner. I highly recommend it! - Кино
having Robert Picardo playing Martin Short's character in disguise as Picardo's character with him doing an impression of his own Cowboy character is just awesome
It's Martin Short's voice overdubbed as well doing an impression of Cowboy.
"Cowboy!" "Stop it!" "Don't Do that!" "I was just kidding!" -"Nneeehhh!!!" "Ahhhhhhh!!!" 3:00 I also Love Lydia's Freaked out Reaction as well as the guy fainting! "Please Cowboy" "No More" "It's Only a Joke!" L O L !
'Cowboy, stop it! Don't do that!'
I was just kidding.. 😂🤣🤣😂
nyeh! lmao
Warriorsorb _(faints)_
“In lieu of champagne, how about some real pain? Propane?” is a line that never left me throughout my childhood
On his days off he sells propane and propane accessories.
Came full circle with King Of The Hill
"God in heaven deliver us from Satan!" Lol
I was waiting for this comment all along 😂
Brilliant scene from a classic movie. Rob Bottin is a genius. These effects still look incredible.
This is so wonderful. I think it was told in the audio commentary, that they first tried to make Martin Short look like Bob Picardo, but he couldn't handle it. Then Bob followed Martin for a few weeks, studying his behaviour, and then delivered this little gem we're seeing here. I love Martin Short - when he's played by Robert Picardo.
I met Picardo at a screening of Ghostbusters in LA in 2010, and completely forgot to tell him how much I loved him in this role. I really wish I could have asked him what accent he was doing for the role. I've never been able to decide if it's latin, german, or something else.
This is the most funniest scene in this movie ever.
Reminds me of those scary guys in the movie "Jacob's Ladder."
@@PlanetRockJesus Holy shit, you're right! lol This might be the first use of that "shaky-head" camera effect! It was used in Jacob's Latter and Stir of Echoes. They have someone shake their head as fast as possible, keeping their shoulders as still as they can, shooting it in a very slow framer rate, then drastically change the speed up the footage.
I remember rewinding this scene over and over again when my family rented it at the local video store
@@SunBunz Dark Angel from Full Moon Entertainment and the late 90’s remake of House on Haunted Hill also implemented that creepy effect.
@@tonymata8070 I LOVED the effect in House of Haunted Hill, too!
GOD IN HEAVEN DELIVER US FROM SATAN (hiding behind the woman) 😂
What a SIMP i know ! 😂
I just watched this scene on TV. Needed to rewatch it. Feel on the floor laughing.
That actor was freaking hilarious in this film and Ghoulies III: Ghoulies Go to College.
I think I was 10 seeing this film in a movie theater, this scene is epic as people laughed and cried at the same time. it still is funny and makes you laugh.
Channeling extraterrestrials and spirits I saw it in the theater as a kid too!
I just saw it on TV. Fucking died.
Yes my friend very funny 😄 😆 🤣 film 🎥 🎞 🎦 🎬 nice one 👍
Although I'd imagine that it would be quite disturbing to see play out in real life.
Yeah, ten in 1987 and watched this film in a movie theater!
"Don't do that" is the most authentic line of dialog in all of cinema
I allways laugh my ass of at this scene... its a classic :)
3:42 Love how she says "oh". So adorable
80s Meg Ryan was peak cuteness.
hilarious cult scene
real old school animatronics effects by the genius rob bottin
And 100% REAL REALISTIC animatronic effects too!
New filmmakers ought to make short horror films and feature HORROR FILMS about HUMAN TO MONSTER TRANSFORMATION sequences, like how the way Rob Bottin did in "THE HOWLING" and John Carpenter's "THE THING".
FX by IL&M that won the Oscar, music by Jerry Goldsmith (usual collab and friend of Joe Dante)...
This is one of my favorite movies in the 80's
What about electric dreams that's a good film 🎥 🎞 🎦 🎬 about a 💻computer 🖥 that wants to know about feelings and when it does find out its sends for 100.000wts of power 🔋 to come to it disctyoing it self that was one of my favourite films from the 80's just thort l'd put that your way my friend god bless you friend hope you have a good new year from 2021-2022 hope its good one for you my friend from odbod?13
Back when people would ask "How'd they do that?"
A shame there's no behind the scenes or production photos.
@@danielwilliamson6180 I asked Robert Picardo about it at a Star Trek convention. It was all animatronic, and he said that the model, when not in motion, looked really weird, because the parts didn't really fit together. It was never meant to be seen not in motion.
@@MichaelMoore99 Thank you for the information.
It was an animatronic head with a complicated setup of motors/actuators to deform it in various ways. The camera slowly circles the object on a rig, running undercranked, meaning filming at a lower frame rate.
Proper timing between the frame rate and the rate at which the motors/actuators "wiggle" to deform the head create this blurred but otherwise stable image.
@@MichaelMoore99
Thank God because no brain in the world could survive that.
Scrimshaw: “I wonder miss, if Cowboy’s ever told you about his incredible tolerance for pain?”
Lydia: “His what?”
Jack: “His what?”
Tuck: “His what?”
Me: “His what?”
Christian Unger “His what?”
“His what?”
"His what?"
"His what?"
There is nothing like a good cigar. Eh, partner?
I have no fucking idea how on earth Robert Picardo made those facial expression, but dear god!, that man should be a comedian, ive never seen anything this fun.
Fucking crying of laughter here.
A high pressure air device like a hair dryer
They were mechanical puppets Rob Bottin built. Rob was fond of Picardo and when he was added to Total Recall's vfx team chose Picardo for the Jonny Cab, both as voice actor and molded likeness.
cowboy stop it don't do that I was just kidding. LOL
im crying
Kidding or not, it was a cruel thing to do!
I still remember watching this in the basement on VHS when I was around 16-17 years old and almost PASSING OUT laughing during this scene.
“Please state the nature of the medical emergency, comrade.”
Some people commented that the face effects reminded them of Total Recall. That's because effects designer Rob Bottin worked on both movies!
And for another Innerspace/Total Recall connection, The Cowboy was played by Robert Picardo, who was the voice of Johnny Cab in Total Recall.
The doctor had a serious print and camel toe while squatting to look for the chip. Mm mm mmhn! She could have a seat on me. Especially my face 😂
Clifton Rouse What a sight to see after the horror show we (and they) witnessed mere minutes before then. 😂
@@LivingStoneWriter o k k kaaaay! Just 1 day out of the blue I spotted it. Dammit man! 1 track mind in da gutter. 😆 Lol
NO CGI at all, folks.
Just the genius of Rob Bottin.
This movie is great, I always have a good time watching it
Picardo must've had the time of his life. What a joyfully insane role.
OMG I didn't know that was The Doctor from Voyager!!
Vernon Wells once referred to his character in Commando as Freddy Mercury on steroids. LOL
Yeah, but without the steroids part. Always thought it was hilarious the head bad guy in Commando was so flabby and out of shape while trying to appear so menacing, LOL.
His what, HIS what? his what!!
my dad laughs so much, becuz of the fainting and the dude hiding behind the girl saying 'good God in heaven deliver us from Satan" These guys are doing illegal shit, they have body guards all mercinary style, and they are all whiney babies LOL "Cowboy don't do that, i was just kidding" lol
Love this. Bob Picardo rules as the Cowboy... TheStar Trek Voyager Emergency Hologram would love this.
'Please state the nature of the medical emergency'.
Movie is so underrated
Funny, funny, all actors an actresses were so funny in this scene (specially Robert Picardo). Great!
Good point, cowboy! Thank you.
Good point, Jack! Thank you.
Fantastic underrated sci-fi movie!
Haven't seen this in maybe 25 years. I think I'll watch it with my two boys: 23 and 17. Great movie. Loved it.
Seriously this movie is such a classic
I had it done, clint Eastwood style, you see Outlaw Yosey Vales? What a flick 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣
This scene is gonna
stuck my head forever
Jack (As Cowboy): Gosh! It's so tiny
*gold tooth falling off*
😂😂😂
Excellent, what a nostalgia, I downloaded this movie, I really enjoyed it, excellent special effects.
Wish I could do this in order to freak people out, would be nice to have the face change ability.
Can't believe I'm the only one at 26 years old who's seen this movie
you are not friend im 42 and still ❤ this movie!
+TORNADO TAZ I watched it on fox family back in the 90s lol
BrianFalconsFan2 You're not the only one. I just watched this movie on Netflix and I'm 27.
I’m only 20 and I love it
BrianFalconsFan2 I watched this when I was like... 14 or sonething. And I'm 20 now.
great movie very underrated!!!
RIP Kevin McCarthy
Computer, deactivate the emergency medical cowboy.
4:12 nice snatch shot!
Jordan Peele said that the difference between horror and comedy might well be down to the music. Imagine this scene with some intense, dark music playing over it. It would've screwed up an entire generation
Love the squat shot we get of the doctors camel. Very nice!!
Without a doubt the best scene of the movie, the switch back from the Cowboy makes me laugh everytime I watch it, hilarious!
3:31 That horrified me as a kid. Holy SHIT! lol
The point where Jack's appearance was altered into that of Cowboy's was a cheap way to get through the plot.
But I have to say, this scene delivered one of the biggest laughs.
Joe Dante and special effect genius Rob Bottin working together again, after The Howling and Twilight Zone movie... In the segment "It's a Good Life" of the Twilight Zone movie they did something similar with the rabbit in the hat: a weird merging of cartoon logic and hyperrealistic features that looks both funny and horrifying.
Rob was a master (The Thing, Robocop, Total Recall) but unfortunately CGI has put him out of work. It's notable that the remakes of his movies have so far not lived up to the originals even with larger budgets and more sfx.
Its unfortunate indeed. I think the created more with less
Probably the funniest scene of the whole movie the fact everyone's freaked out and the funny facial expressions.
Now I've gotta watch the whole movie again!!! 😂 Epic sci-fi flick!
“You know cowboy I don’t know what it is. Theres something about you. You have changed”!
Oh man I forgot how funny this scene was in the movie. I loved it! I gotta rent this one.
My favorite scene in the whole movie
I had it done, Clint Eastwood style, The Outlaw Josey Wales, what a flick lol 😆 🤣🤣
seriously how the hell did they do that....CGI has fucking nothing on 80's special effects
Inflatable prosthetics
Cowboy I beg of you! Haha.
"So tiny" lol 1:51 We should all say this in his accent when ever possible.
Very entertaining. Should of been a classic!
Where Lt. Torres? The EMH program is malfunctioning, he's beginning to resemble an SCTV cast member.
*"1988"* is when this film was released _(just in case anyone's wondering!)_
I watch this scene, from this movie I dearly love, and all I can think of is: "Two weeks...twwooooooowwwweeeeeks.... duueewarrwwwwwwwwooooweeeekss!"
State the nature of the cowboy emergency.
cowboy i beg of you! ha ha.
I have it cut Clint Eastwood style, outlaw Josey wales what a flick loooooool
think he said... "I had it done".
lol, now that I realized it...all I can see is the EMH from Voyager on some weird away mission.
Please cowboy no more...it was only a joke
god from heaven deliver us from satan 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
TWO WEEKS!
"Give It To Me, Give It To Meeeee!"
Let off some steam Bennett…. oh hang on
3:31 I heard those weird computerized cartoony sounds in another WB film, that film was Gremlins 2: The New Batch.
It was during the Brain Gremlin transformation scene, I love this sound effect I have no idea how they did it?
Best scene of the whole movie, gets me laughing on the floor every damn time!
3:31....I 🤣 up every time!
Woah. ive really watched this quite a few times, thats pretty amazing. i am impressed.
Right! We wet their appetites of what we've got! Good Point Cowboy! - "Thankyou." Good Point Jack! - "Thankyou." (DAMMIT look on his face!) 1:23 Annoying Fact: Don't Ya'll Hate it, when Your Mind does that to You?!?!
back when movies were cool.
I still laugh at that part wicked movie
This film is fantastic film l just love this seen of the cowboys face go boggle l pist my self laughing so much so funny 😄 😆 😀 🤣 very funny 🤣 😂
I like how they just mess up Martin Short's face in that scene.
This movie is so funny I remember watching it when I was a kid. When shit got real homeboy says “ 😂😂😂😂😂I was only kidding”
I've always wondered why they're eating raw eggs?
The man can't ever catch a break..
Please state the nature of the medical emergency!...and microscopic men in your body don't count.
hi
*****
This is absurd. Facial transformation is not in my medical database. I'm a doctor, not an exorcist.
danieldb631
Damn it Jim! I'm a doctor, not a priest!
@@danieldb631 I could imagine the EMH in Voyager saying that...bonus points for being played by Robert Picardo.
3:02 Janeway to Bridge. Someone is messing with the Doctor’s program.
Let me tell you folks one thing... : When I get older, and therefore worse with my body... I will DEMAND... either my family, or the crew at the hospital, to SHOW ME THIS part of that movie..
Imagine making your villain in the movie saying "I was just kidding, it's only a joke" lol
Brilliant 👏 👏 👏
If Bob Picardo is changing in some way in a film, Rob Bottin is always the guy behind it.
Who else was traumatized by this scene as a kid? Lol!
Great music at 2:36, love the transition.
They don't make movies like this anymore...
a foretaste of Michael jackson´s "black and white"
This has Rob Bottin written allll over it!
I could not agree, more!!!
