Thank you for another wonderful video Tara! I really resonated with what you said about how isn’t it amazing that people with doctorates are trying to stop others from doing a doctorate. Unfortunately I experienced that firsthand.
My thesis advisor (for my Masters) liked my paper and posted it (with permission) on his website. But when I asked him to write me a letter of recommendation because I wanted to apply to doctorate programs, he not only refused to do it, but had the audacity to send me a lengthy email actively discouraging me from applying. I still get upset thinking about it. This was someone I had worked with for a year, and who clearly only valued my work when it made HIM look good.
Long story short, I didn’t listen to that jerk, and next month I start my 2nd year of my doctoral program. But it upsets me to think how many other people may become discouraged or not continue that pursuit because of naysayers (and gatekeepers) like him. Thank you again Tara for bringing attention to this issue. 💕

I got my two years experimental work rejected 5 times, I seriously lost interest in publication.

What a vlog, Tara! One of the most powerful so far. So brave of you to just name things as they are in these times...
And this vlogs comes in such a convenient time for me: I am about to publish that first article. The goal was just to get published since so many people tell me no one iw waiting for my research. Yet, my supverisor is really exited and has high hopes that my 'clutter' can get published in the most respected journal of my field. I was scared to do so, since I ama slow researcher (combining that PhD with an other full time job to get those bills paid). But now I will just totally go for it. Beating the odds, what a privilige :-)
Your vlogs are, as always, such an inspiration.
If you would run out of vlog ideas, I would like to inspire you to share your magic trics on editing a paper (not the thesis). Not that easy to go from a 15.000 word paper to just 10.000 words :D
