Thanks for the good video. Have you created a video about inspections? Is it difficult to get the inspector out? Are they easy to work with? Do they have good information to give you before you start? Thanks
It's fairly easy to get inspectors out and inspect your progress. As for the ease of work with them it all depends who you have, all people are different. If you have a good building inspector they can help you a lot, you can bounce your ideas of them.
After spending 60 years in the building business and 26 years training people I can say that everyone wants to be a plumber, electritian plasteror or framer, but the first thing they want to know is how much vacation they get, how much money, benefits and sick time they get. If you find a guy who askes if you can teach him so he can get a lisence; you better hire him on the spot. Those in the trade like me had fathers who kicked our asses out of bed at an early age and took us to work with them. Didn't get paid, They kept us busy and out of trouble.

@@Favret12 Start by going to your building department and find out how much it is to pull the permit and all other government fees. Different areas of the country have different rules and fees. The building department will tell you what you need to fill out and what you need to get your permit granted. Second talk to your power company and ask how much and how the process works to get temporary power to your site so you can work. Third Talk to. your sewer/health department to see how much the sewer connection is or how much is the permit to get a septic tank, I don't know what kind of lot you have but it will be either one of those. If you need a septic you will need to do a percolation test for your soil, here it costs $300 and permit is also $300, but you have to find out how much it is where you live. That will get you an idea of what you need to start there is a lot more as you go forth but nothing you can't handle. Remember Rome wasn't built in a day :)

You're such an inspiration, no need to apologise about your speech. I completely relate to You because Fibromyalgia sometimes scrambles my brain and English is also my second language. Looking forward to watch the rest of your videos. Keep up the great work!
About 6 years, I was building my own house and when I was done I decided I like that process and I wanted to do it as a business. That's the short story :)
I'm a home builder, but I have been absent from the business for about 10 years. Today's prices are outrageous! And permits? Ridiculously high priced. My local electric association wants to charge me $8,000 to trench 6 feet onto my property and install power. If it takes their crew 4 hrs to do this, I'll be shocked. A permit for a leach field runs $1,000, and the county has no skin in the game. The inspector walks over, looks at the system, signs the papers and walks away. My engineer charged me $1,600 to size 2 beams and 4 point load, concrete pads. That little red stamp is expensive! Cost to drill a well...$35,000. I live in Colorado. Everything costs 5 times what it used to. Sheesh.
Just a thought, you dont want any future movement once the concrete is poured causing a hole or crack in that pipe since you have gravel directly laid on top of it. There could be sharp edges. Just my thought because i had to spend $3500 for a leak for copper water pipe under the slab that had a pinhole leak due to gravel hitting it. I would suggest running your water lines though the walls instead of under the concrete also.
I built my foundation with 4 ft frost level concrete (bags). Even added insulation underneath it. Did all the plumbing myself. It took somewhere around $1000 (all materials) are all other costs for the labor?EDIT: My room addition was much smaller than this...
I just found your channel. This is exactly what I need to get my project started. Hope you are well and God bless you.

@@MigraineCraftsman there is already electricity and Sewer to the property it's just a bear lot where my little old house that I grew up in was
@@Favret12 That is awesome, so you will build where you grew up.
Go to my about section on RUclips and send me an email.
4500.00 does this include the water?
No, water price is in my later episodes in this series. $4500 was for the plumbers to do everything from A to Z.
@@MigraineCraftsman Wow that's extremely cheap. Can't possibly include the fixtures
I just found your channel and want to Thank You for sharing such a valuable information, I've been researching because I'm planning on building my own house.
You're such an inspiration, no need to apologise about your speech. I completely relate to You because Fibromyalgia sometimes scrambles my brain and English is also my second language.
Looking forward to watch the rest of your videos. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for the kind words, stick around the channel, my cabin build is almost done and I will be building a small 2 bedroom 2 bath house next.
How long have you been building homes for? How did you start off this business?
About 6 years, I was building my own house and when I was done I decided I like that process and I wanted to do it as a business. That's the short story :)
Hey bro do you have a course for this stuff?
Sheesh.
Yes Sir, and some people wonder how come we have a homeless problem in certain cities.
I hate drama too! lol
I see no vents brother
I built my foundation with 4 ft frost level concrete (bags). Even added insulation underneath it. Did all the plumbing myself. It took somewhere around $1000 (all materials) are all other costs for the labor?EDIT: My room addition was much smaller than this...
This price was for was materials and labor from start to finish for the plumbing.
How many square feet is this housw
930 in total.
Thanks for another great video. Looking forward to seeing this home finished. A
