British Army Lifts 100 Year Ban!

- Today it was announced that the British army has lifted its 100 year ban on the growing of a beard.
A message to troops was issued with an update that allows for neat growth over the Easter break. According to its terms, only a full beard is allowed. It must be between 2.5mm and 25.5mm long and trimmed off the cheekbones and neck. The policy stipulates there can be “no patchy or uneven growth” and “no exaggerated colours”.

About time really the SLR and BAOR brigade will complain but who cares about their input, the vast majority wouldn’t cope in todays army it’s too advanced

I'm part of the SLR and BAOR brigade as you call it and am still serving. I don't see it as an issue since, as was pointed out, the Royal Navy have had beards for centuries, and it's never affected their discipline or operational effectiveness.
@@thomashynd2291 if you used a SLR and are still serving fair play but I was aiming it towards the 60’s/70’s lot that are salty that they missed Korea and WW2 and left before the Falklands did nothing but sit in Germany and get bladdered and demand that they deserve credit for stopping the “invasion”
@@Hity-os1hm fair enough. I was right at the arse end of the period. Swapped my SLR for an SA80 in 1991. We were one of the last units to do so.
I think in Israel (IDF) the mans beard has to be " gas mask friendly " ie not so long that it protrudes outside the rubber edges of the gas mask itself - this can be challenging for an ultra-orthodox gent , ( and there are some ) serving
Very similar to RN policy from what I remember, it’s not clean shaven, but you can still have a fairly decent beard and create a seal
