Can’t wait to get out and go again. My conqueror has been packed and repacked a couple of times. All very good tips. I started using basecamp and T4A recently, it’s been I big help but I leave the menu planning to my wife, she’s got that covered 😀
Thnx. Just discovered you/this. Somewhat topical as we are in Planning Mode for a Nairobi to CPT Overland using a 4x4 Land Cruiser with Tent on Roof, so .... 1. Best Map to buy for Namibia & Botswana 2. Easiest access to Campsite Info and Availability to Book (in above). In SA, we hear much about Carjacking and ask - Source of Up-to-Date Info and ‘Danger Spots’ ...... ? Thnx again
Hi! 1. tracks4africa.co.za Paper maps / Mobile app / Garmin maps. I recommend getting the app and paper maps 2. www.ioverlander.com and I maintain a database of bush campsites specifically getoutgo.co.za/campsites-map/ 3. www.cars.co.za/motoring_news/sas-hijacking-hotspots--how-to-be-best-prepared/44721/ Hope that helps!
Thanks for a great channel Christoff. I'm new to overloading and would really appreciate a video on the best way to pack a roof rack. Maybe cover the best practices for water and fuel storage when travelling... Is it better to store water on the roof or in the car? And maybe something on solar/electrical setups. Thanks one again!!
Glad you're finding it useful Nolan! I think a packing video might be on the cards 😉 I might get someone on an episode / livestream to talk about solar / electrical
Very informative, I'd like to know what type of kit is on your Fortuner I remember one episode Ryan said you had issues with your air suspension, what happened and why did you go the air route?
I'll be doing a rig walk-around soon where I'll talk about all the mods, current and future 😉 The "air suspension" I have are just manual air helpers at the back to keep it from sagging when I'm towing. Suspension wise I have Iroman4x4 heavy duty coils and foamcell pro shocks. The issue I had was a thumping noise at the back; was gone when I increased the pressure on the airbags.
Patiently waiting for that episode I actually want to copy you, but one thing I sort of noticed is you don't use "serious" off road tyres and you still get everywhere with no hassle.
For the most part you'll do just fine with a set of good AT tyres (I have Hankook Dynapro's). I did have 1 blow-out and 2 punctures in the Tankwa but so did just about everyone else in the group, even a KM3 needed 3 plugs... I will probably change to something like Cooper ST Maxx eventually for the 3-ply sidewall.
Hi Johann, I do both. If you're basecamping in one spot for a longer time or have a family then towing a trailer is great. I have the Conqueror companion and it will go to almost everywhere. When it's just me or with my wife, lots of one night stops or really rough terrain I prefer car-camping.

Nice video Chris. Preparation is sumtyms overlooked but more important than the trip itself, in my opinion
Thanks Andrew! I like the planning part, builds excitement! I do try to strike balance between planning and being able to roll with changes though 😉
Wow, this is such an informative video, thanks Chris!!
Thanks Asher!
Very informative, thank you!
My pleasure!

Get Out, GO! Sounds brilliant, thank you!!
I have a Pajero Gen 2 3.5 v6. It sucks fuel but i enjoy traveling.
#doesntmatterwhatyoudrive as long as you get out there 👍
Thanks for another great video Chris. Any chance you are willing to share that excel spreadsheet of yours? 😳
No worries 👍 email me on info at getoutgo dot co dot za

Christoph, one question, where dit you get that soft leather hat of yours🎩
Hi, it’s a driza-bone oil-skin hat from Australia. They don’t make hats anymore unfortunately 😢. Akubras are also nice but they’re crazy expensive
What is your take on running a trip with a live-in trailer (Tuff-Cat, Conqueror, Bush Lapa) VS a roof top attched to your vehicle?
Hi Johann, I do both. If you're basecamping in one spot for a longer time or have a family then towing a trailer is great. I have the Conqueror companion and it will go to almost everywhere. When it's just me or with my wife, lots of one night stops or really rough terrain I prefer car-camping.
