@@China_Life_Records Just my 2 cents... A government needs pragmatic definitions of poverty to guide public policies, and that is most likely going to based on household income, sanitation infrastructure, and so on... There is a lot of independence in living that way, meanwhile most people in "non-poverty-stricken" areas are compromising health just to live paycheck to paycheck. Thanks for the video!
Go to West Virginia, Kentucky, any southern state, I’m sure you will find people living in dire poverty. I’m not appalled or shocked by this. They are living a traditional life.
Perhaps our standards are different. I lived in such an environment 10 years ago, and even back then, these conditions were widely considered to represent poor.
There is never enough, when we don't have money we want them. When we have them, we want something else. They are poor in terms of accessibility to modern means whereas they don't lack clean air & environment. But those don't pay for bills unfortunately especially when kids need schooling and all modern things

There is life everywhere here. Unlike the cities which look like dead-zones. These people have animals and room to grow crops. They can survive without the stores, the noise, the pollution, the massive overcrowding and the constant government overreach. They are living the best life by far.

Don’t get me wrong, this area is officially defined as an impoverished region in China; I’m not making it up. I used to live in such a place myself and am familiar with the living conditions of the local residents. By “impoverished,” I mean economically. While China’s per capita GDP has now exceeded $10,000, the per capita GDP here is less than $2,000. Therefore, calling this area a poor region is absolutely accurate.
Quiet. Peaceful. Beautiful. Yes a life of toiling, but have you seen the life of living in crowded tenements in the cities in China? How about the areas surrounding the cities?
Lots of folks in the United States dream of getting back to the kind of life shown here. They view it as idyllic and peaceful. Many are starting homesteads in the boonies
Much better to live like this in the country, rather than being a slave to a desk in the city where all you can smell is stinky cars and humans squashed together like sardines in a can. These poor farmers are not poor, they are blessed by God.
I hear, "Mama. Mama." It is perfect in English to my ears. I want to run to the baby. I lived very poorly in the United States which is not to say that it is the same as in China. We still have dirt roads where I live and it makes travel very difficult even with big trucks. I have to travel 12km to get mail or shop. No one comes out here to go door to door. When I was younger we lived from farming and some handy man help work. I had a herd of goats. I grew our vegetables. We bought rice and beans. We raised chickens for eggs. The goats gave milk for the children. We sold eggs, vegetables, pears, and goats once or twice a year. My husband worked on other people's farms fixing fences or building their buildings like barns and things. I still sell some vegetables. We have transitioned to service work. I deliver packages in the nearby city and I merchandise in different towns nearby. I also take calls for a call center while delivering packages. It's very hard. Harder than collecting eggs and vegetables. Although we have more money, all of it has to go for equipment we use to work. The car I own now takes half the income I earn. The phone I use is 15%. Once I pay off my phone and car I will not work so much so I can grow vegetables again and raise chickens and perhaps finally write my books and make my youtube videos.
Welcome to visit! This is my friend’s home, and they are very warm and hospitable. If you’re willing to come, the cost for food and accommodation for two weeks should not exceed $300.
