- 2024 Hyundai Kona N Line review by The Straight Pipes. The Kona N-Line is putting down 190 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque from a 1.6L Turbo 4 cylinder. At $35,499 CAD, would you take it over the Toyota Corolla Cross, Mazda CX-30, Kia Seltos, Honda HRV?

Stealth technology! Polarizing is what is understated especially given what is outgoing.
I got a 2018 in December. It has less than 7k miles on it and has been back twice for dropping to limp mode from a knock sensor code. That's once before they changed the sensor and once after. The car can't handle rpm load when passing or merging onto the highway. Both times the car dropped to 40mph almost immediately, almost causing pileups. DO NOT BUY A THETA II EQUIPED HYUNDAI OR KIA.
Robo&Cop The YuJak Horsemen Edition
The design may not be for everyone (including me), but Hyundai doesn't fail at shaking the whole automotive industry with their bold and striking design.
Yeah, a different design every generation because they can't settle on a cohesive design language.
Dont worry they will change out again in 4 yrs. They have zero heritage. They keep changing their design and trying to hide their H emblem.
Hyundai's war on logical and aesthetic front bumper/headlamps and trunkline/rear-indicators continues.
lol definitely not for me either.
KIA boi specia;l
I actually frigging LOVE this front end. Its so refreshing to see something cool in a boring shape if they arent gonna give us sports cars
Hyundai is Hyundai. after 5 year ZERO resale value.
@@fffwe3876not with how the used car market is today, used cars are only going to get more expensive along with everything else
@@fffwe3876 ur the type to whine and cry about everything. If you ever wonder why independent women don't like you this is probably the reason why.
A polarising design for sure but I absolutely love it. Finally a car company actually doing something ambitious with their designs.
This N-trim doesn't make a lot of sense though, as the Limited has WAY more features for almost the same price.
Okay, this Kona definitely needs a full N version
But all-wheel-drive this time. Would be amazing in winter.
With AWD this time
Not happenin’
There is a full Kona N but no AWD. Not sure they have a full N in the new 2024 models.
I really like what Hyundai is doing with their N cars, specially the Elantra .
Kona N is discontinued for 2024
Thank you, Nephew! Support those dude at all cost. Such good content
Looks a car the Lorax would drive
Best description I've heard for this car lmao
?????😭😭😭😭😭Hilarious
Legit!
Why is this so apt and making so much sense?
He’d drive the electric version
The HUD on the Hyundai. Santa Fe is nice IMO. It’s super helpful for cars with automatic radar cruise control/lane keeping - so you don’t have to look down to know if your car is on full auto or if it doesn’t recognize the lane borders.
I also like the previous style better, but I love that they are trying new things! They made huge improvements past few years mechanically too
GROUND CLEARANCE! YAY! The toggle between charge only vs charge + connection is BRILLIANT.
I bought the 2023 Kona N Line Ultimate few weeks ago! absolutely love it, fun to drive, decent fuel consumption, nice look! I'm glad I picked the 2023 as I don't really dig the new style. But kudos to Hyundai for trying different styles and shaking the auto industry!
.. im leaning towards '23 Kona sel plus ;) white or silver exterior w/ Blk interior & jus hope i can get a good deal too.. im not a big fan of the new design either.. did u pay msrp or any mark up?
@@robertogarciajr.8618 I paid MSRP but they "forced" lots of additional fees I couldn't opted out which was borderline legit in my opinion (admin fees, wheel locks, winter floor mats, leather protection and many more... even 75$ to fuel the tank). The manager said they are selling new cars with forced packages to compensate for low stock. I wish you good luck finding your '23 Kona SEL plus :)
I love the hud in my '20 Kona. Once you set up the height it works pretty flawlessly.
The best part of this video is that you guys are listening to Yacht Rock. Love to see it
Congratulations on another stellar video!
One more good content from you guys. Thank you!
I test drove this yesterday. It's very nice inside. I love the way the flat panels on the dash looks as well as the wide flatscreen. Also love how dash does it's animation think when you go into turbo mode.
Sure the power isn't like the 2023 Kona N, but i'm not looking into the Kona for power. It's plenty powerful enough to get me by. I just need a comfortable, reliable SUV and this car seems to deliver.
Went to Portugal a few weeks ago and saw a bunch of Honda HR-Vs but they were not the HRV-s we know in North America. They were good looking early 2000s off roaders. It turns out Honda has been using that name for a long time in other countries.
This looks like a spaceship inside and out! I love the cockpit. My car just got totaled and I'm leaning hard toward one of these as a replacement.
i have a 2023 Santa Fe, and I was blown away. It is my first Hyundai I owned. It is very nice by far the most popular car in my house hold.
I have a 2023 Kona N-Line and love it but I was also loving the way the 2024 version looked.
If I could have the new exterior but old interior but with the revamped screent hat would have been ideal.
Overall looks good, but the plastic mess of the grill area with 8 different designs needs fixed. Hopefully the N resolves that
This is right there with the Pontiac Aztek in the looks department.
This was a great direction for the Kona- inside and out. Although the specs are very similar now between the Kona and Seltos, the Kona is still less roomy than the Seltos. In addition to that, the Seltos has much more cargo area. All things considered, it still makes more sense to go for the KIA Seltos over the Hyundai Kona.
The beat at the intro though!!
They've pulled off the front & rear lightbar really well. I'd delete the spoiler though..
I really hope that Hyundai pumps out an actual N version with this redesign, a man can dream but I love the way this looks
Kind of weird they only made a N version for like 2 years.
Would be nice to see if they made a more affordable and performance oriented RWD sedan.
Yuri mentioned heads up display. Extra points! Tho this model and trim does not offer said feature
I'm in Canada Ontario and I just got a 2023 Elantra N line ultimate in july and I love it! The new Kona robocop look is very cool but we'll see how hyundai does the refreshes in the next 5 yrs when I'm in the market for a new car again.
5 years man and with prices in Ontario you are better off long term which is why Toyota is always my pick any day. I agree for a brand like Hyundai and others 5 Year ownership is a good timeline.
This in black would look sick. I need this car. And I love the ionic 5 inspired interior. I think the best interior design out right now
Hyundai def is on a mission the past few yrs, they have level up their cars design and performance, whoever are fueling this great change in that company is making its founder Chung Ju-yung proud! This was his dream to make great cars!
9:46 interesting they swapped the side the cruise control buttons were on that’s going to be fun to get used to for previous Kona owners
Exactly what I thought. I really hoped the Canadian model wouldn't be like that after watching a lot of reviews from overseas but oh well, I guess it'll be fun. Ordered a EV Ultimate...
Looks pretty good. I'm interested in the electric one and would like to hear about the sound system. Everyone says the sound system in the Ioniq 5 is mediocre at best.
In my country we only have kona ev, I never knew a petrol version existed. Cool!!
Seen one of these in person, VERYY VERYY Nice looking suv
0:00 to 0:27 I love the song 🎧 and also I like the cooler camera action angle 📐 whoever do the camera film I like it 10/10.
That front end is definitely a front end.
Reminds me of the seltos with the light bar thing but it looks even more front end like than before .
Not sure why I like the light bars
Been a while since your intro made me 🥰🥰🥰🥂
My roomate got her Seltos with a headups displays, and she loves it. I also like it, as apposed to our disgust for not being able to get rid of Sirius XM app in our cars.
What’s your opinion on how it compares to the Mazda CX-30? Performance, fun to drive, materials etc.
Get the CX30 NA....it provides the same power and torque, you can get it for a steal, has a better interior and will be way more reliable.
More excited for the N and the Elantra N!
Unc with the perfect plug!! ❤
editor has a dope fit on, love it
Could be a nice upgrade from my 2021 Kona Luxury (which also has a regular torque converter automatic). However, the new N-Line would have to have more premium upgrades to compete with the old Luxury version... Since Albert Bierman is no longer in the driving seat, I wonder if future N's will have the same level of magic.
this thing looks dope as hell!
Cant wait for you guys to review the new Santa Fe. I think it may he the first car I buy new not used.
Looks like it should be lowered. Looks okay but I like the previous style better. Also, I would rather get a Mini Cooper for the money.
I sold my mom on the Limited trim of this car in only 10 minutes. Her Jeep has been having problems with rust and electrics. She always wanted an orange Jeep and finally got one. She's only had it for 3 years and it's garbage. Since these Konas come in orange and have a lot of cool features at a good price, it might just be our next car.
The fenders just remind me of a Pontiac Aztec. Liked the old design a bit better.
13:06 Yuri set that up real well on Jacob.. lmbo😅
I'm getting PT Cruiser vibes from the front side profile.
Does it have the 360 camera and the blind spot monitoring by camera on cockpit? In USA is only available on LIMITED Trim
Honestly, I LOVE IT
your editor's Pathfinder looks sick
Starting off with the Caribbean vibe .. I started dancing and everything.. 😅
The robo cop lights don’t look bad but I don’t understand the need to add the unnecessary complication for when your car gets damaged and u need to find extra light housings to repair. Especially for the rear brake lights- when it literally doesn’t have anything to do with the lower mounted brake light
As a Kona N owner, I also find this good looking but prefer the smaller and more aggresive design of the old N design.
The good news is you can fix that exhaust sound with a $500 midpipe that bolts on and off np.
When are they going to release the Outlandish Competition Package or short for OCP. 😆
With the full light bar its robo cop, with the lights in the middle off its iron man
I agree with Jakub this car looks better than the previous gen, but certainly not a good looking car especially that front end.
I'm not sure I really understand the the issue is with the shifter. It seems fairly logical that you'd twist it with your thumb going forwards to go into drive. Once you've got that figured out, it's hard to go wrong with it. A car with flappy paddles for gears doesn't need anything other than P-R-D-N, so having a separate action for each (except Neutral, which you hardly ever need) makes sense.
I'm just basing this on my experience with the Mercedes shifter stalk, which is much quicker and easier to use than any other I've tried. The only disadvantage of the Merc system is that they have to cram the wiper controls onto the indicator stalk. It seems like the Hyundai approach solves that problem.
I've had no issues with the shifter. Even if you have a hard time remembering the motions there's two different audio cues for Reverse and Drive and the gear selection shows up on the instrument panel.
Overall looks good, less the light strip in the front.
Looks like this should be the new Pontiac Aztek!!
The overall shape of the rear end and the taillights that are separate from the horizontal light bar don't sit well with me. It has a bold design, but I think it's far from good looking.
How the reliability on this thing? How many recalls so far?
Does the lightning not count for double robocop?
Guys can you review the vinfast vf8? Thanks
I'd get Corolla Cross for residual value and reliability...Kona for cool look and sporty handling.
You haven’t been keeping up with the news, hyundais hold value now. Their 3rd gen Santa fe can still be found for $15,000CAD on autotrader…
@@MJT-DAauto trader is mainly prices from dealers
@@alvinsimba734 Check the blue book bud
They should do a elantra liftback with 7 inch ground clearance instead
Why did they interchange the position of the tachometer and speedometer. My current KONA, and most vehicles out there have the tachometer on the left and the speedometer on the right... Does Huyndai know something we don't ??
From the back or 3/4 angle from the back it looks like the Pontiac Aztec
Something to note, the US version still shows the 7 speed DCT, not the 8 auto
it is the standard 8 speed auto tho
They really should've just put the Knight Rider/KITT red light bar in front.
the spoiler isnt on the hyundai website for this car?
Can you make a review of the SsangYong Torres please🙂🙂
The Aztec is back from the grave! Cant wait to see this in the Breaking Bad reboot 4 years from now.
I like better the previous Kona, specially the N version.
I. Need. This. Tiny. Robocop, omg!
I got one of these a week ago. Cant fault it at all.
Hmm, if Breaking Bad got a reboot, this would be the replacement for Walter's Pontiac Aztek. I don't know if this a compliment for the Kona N or not. 🤔
it does look like robocop. man this as a sports would look tight
Reminds me of a new version of the Chrysler pt cruiser from the back of car
Answer to Yuris question on what is expensive plastic. I say the injection molded soft touch plastic.
The door panels in this thing do look very low rent.
I prefer the previous generation styling
Will huyndai make N version of the this new Kona???
15:47 I think Nolan from Donut actually had a video on this, that dull colors usually go together with times of economic downturns...
Wait how did you manage to get the N Line in Mirage Green?!
I really love the interior but the exterior is weird looking to me but even the old Kona was weird too.
is this a preview of new Hyundai/kia interior design? so nice to see the dual use climate/radio screen is gone
Ground clearance?
Hyundai are really on a roll with their designs!
Real estate is at a premium between the seats (armrest, cupholders, storage, phone tray etc) so I'm glad they put the Drive Select up on the steering column; the "twist" feature will become second-nature in a week. (and if that RoboCop bar on the steering wheel hub lit up, I'd buy one today!)
The shifter is fun. It's different, but easy to use, quick to respond, and it really is nice having an open area between the seats.
Go to Settings/ vehicle / cluster and then select show RPM
Pontiac Aztec is that you?
What about the rear Kona N??? Where is the new one???
Why does this remind me of a Korean version of the Dodge Caliber? Especially from the side. I think it's the fender flares.
Compact class offerings have the same or better fuel economy available for the same price.
I’m watching from the 🚽 as well… lol
Wow, it didn’t raise that much in US. 23- 27,850 24- 30,650 ($2800 increase). We only get 1 N line in US. Top trim (Ultimate) comes with cladding, 1.6T starts at 31,650. Both comes either front or AWD.
This one look better than the last one coz i love robocop 😅
That was Michah's Florida cousin 🤣
...the wing is screaming..."break me off"
I liked the 1st gen Kona...
This one looks more like a Genesis🤨
