      Hi Paul, are you sure it is wireless Apple CarPlay we picked hours to weeks ago and we can’t get it to work only when we connector cable. It works with wired and the dealer said it is only wired.

      @@cz3nlv only the base models have wireless car play at this stage. I have the premium model which has wired car play but has built in sat nav . The base models don't have built in sat nav.(so that's the trade off for the moment ) I was told by my dealership that there will be an update by the end of the year so that the higher models will also have wireless car play :)

      Hi Paul, I think it's more important to cover if a car has auto-power folding mirrors than the softness of the interior. I think a mention of the softness is fine but are people really that up in arms about how much pressure sensitivity it has? Appreciate if you could mention auto-power folding mirrors in your reviews? Also would be brilliant if service costs, service intervals and warranty could be detailed, as well as what are the primary drivetrain wheels (esp since many cars are AWD now). I know you're then stepping into a lot of research, but these are the things people don't find out till they buy the thing.

    Definitely one of my favourite tennis balls. On a serious note I don't mind the trade-off of having soft suspension and bad body control. Far too many modern cars are going with stiff "sporty" suspension and ditching comfort.

    • @syahjohan4263
      @syahjohan4263 10 месяцев назад +8

      i rather agree with this. We didnt drive that fast in the city so we pretty much always had a very good body control but city road is always filled with uneven terrain and pothole. Car maker should note that we encounter pothole and uneven terrain more than doing 100kmh turn

    • @malsmith2012

      When I read your comment I though gee did I write that! Could not agree more. Motoring journo's, Paul is pretty good most of the time, always go on about soft riding or wanting body control but forget these cars are commuter/family transport and spend all their time on our shit roads. Modern cars are so overly firm it's ridiculous my wife's 19 Cerato GT case in point. It is absolutely ridiculous and I can't ride in it due to my back issues.. Some journo's will be reviewing cars that are supposed to be luxury cars and complain of subtle "wafting" and the like, no shit that's what it's meant to be!! By all means make sporty versions sporty but the normal models IMO should err on the side of comfort..

    Great Kona review Paul. My wife and I constantly are at odds over the autonomous safety tech. such as the speed 'beep'. Just the fact that the Kona you reviewed has a full size spare is enough to get many prospective buyers over the line. [ps. I really like how Hyundai Australia is selling it, it's simple but allows for any reasonable combination. Pick powertrain, pick standard or premium, then pick N-Line package or no N-Line package. N-Line isn't exclusive to premium trim and hybrid isn't exclusive to either trim or to having/not having N-Line pack.

    I test drove one of these today, it was fantastic. Very spacious inside, comfy seats and the tech is great. The 1.6T 8sp torque converter goes well too, totally right as he says the initial acceleration isn’t massive but the mid range is great. I test drove the Kia seltos and the Toyota carolla cross right afterwards and to me this felt the best package of the three, with the nicest interior. Just wondering if I should be holding out for the hybrid or not, particularly as the hybrid is only a FWD with a DCT.

Piano black soils every easily. Like that this model has body coloured wheel arch extensions, makes it look more premium.

    Hyundai seems to design the low rear lights as a feature across a lot of their SUVs. Poor design in the sense that you can't see the indicator at times in city driving. They should be up higher to be more visible, they are a safety signal after all.

      @@user-xy7ed6jy2r mmmm it does sometimes but only very rarely in my experience so far. The only place it’s consistently wrong is when I turn onto the highway from a side road and it doesn’t change the speed to 100 until it passes the first speed sign (and the speed signs are far apart where I am). However, since it is based on speed signs it’ll also give you a heads up when there are giveaway signs etc which I think is really cool.
      Also, for school zones there is apparently a way to set up a “school times” thing so it won’t ding when you pass them but I haven’t messed around with that yet

    The Mazda CX-30 has been around for close to 3 years I believe. Yes, the Kona’s turbo engine has more punch, there is more tech, and it’s bigger overall. Depends what you value. Interior quality, (Hard plastics abound in the Kona )refinement and higher speed stability seem better in the CX-30. This model Kona doesn’t have a surround view camera , heated seats, heated steering wheel, electric tail gate , sunroof, or a 12 speaker Bose stereo that feature in the Astina grade CX-30. The Kona’s Robocop”look doesn’t do it for me either although looks are subjective.

Lane FOLLOWING assist will steer the car according to the way the lines curve, and the steering wheel icon needs to be green to actually activate. And lane KEEP assist will push the car back in when it goes to the side. The button on the steering wheel is for lane following assist NOT lane keep assist.

      my 2022 Santa Fe Highlander always hugs the left lane when semi autonomous is initiated, but even after it tries to centre itself, it just never sits dead centre like the German built cars I've previously had. Considering it's just software, it should have been addressed by now. I wonder if many people actually use it, because Hyundai should have had a lot of customer complaints by now.

    I saw a previous generation kona accidentally rear end a old honda at about 10 km/hr in front of me... to my surprise when I assisted the lady driver all the airbags had gone off as she had a box on the passenger seat... there was a crack in the front plastic of the bumper but zero damage to the radiator or anything to the mechanicals of the car.... The honda had ZERO damage to its rear end and I looked underneath expecting to rear the rail in the bumper bent or something.... but no damage... the female driver was completely in shock due to the airbags so I drove the Kona off the road to assist as it was blocking traffic... based on this I would never buy a KONA... There is something seriously wrong with a car that deploys airbags like what I saw at such low impact speeds and zero damage to the car..... Insurance claims for airbag replacements must be massive.

    I have owned my Kona Premium for nearly 3 weeks now and absolutely love it. For the people who are concerned about the warning speed signals , it really isn't that bad or annoying at all. It just beeps a couple of times and then stops, but in all honesty it is there for a reason. Would of been nice if a review of the Premium model was done as well as it has so much to offer as opposed to this base model. Here is a few... Heated and cooling front seats, rear heated seats, heated steering wheel, sunroof, automatic tailgate which can be opened in a few different ways, built in sat nav (the compensation for not having wireless Apple or Android car play. for the moment) .This I'm told will become available in an update by the end of the year. There is 360 degree cameras around the car which are of very high clarity. The blind spot monitoring is amazing and engages and shows a clear image on your front dash when you put either indicator on. So its really handy to see what's next to your car or behind you when turning or changing lanes. I could go on and on as it offers so much , but seriously it is a lovely car to drive .

    • @MrDuncl
      @MrDuncl 9 месяцев назад

      I have test driven the hybrid and it is still at the top of my list. Our U.K. specs must be different as even the base model (Advance) gets Sat Nav, Apple Carplay and Android Auto. You do have to move up to the N-Line S to get things like the top down camera view and blind spot monitoring. That also brings a load of stuff that isn't of interest to me like heated seats.
      Something that gets a big tick from me is the option for a spare wheel. Hondas all seem to put the hybrid battery in the spare wheel well.

    Paul, absolutely love the videos..brilliant reviews and love the depth you go into cars.....
    But one thing you need to change is do the sine waves at 110km/hr... for 99.99% of people this is the max speed they will ever do...
    130 is just not worth covering considering barely anyone will do that.. and if they do its extremely unlikely that the stretch of road they will be doing it on has sinewaves like at lang lang

    • @lamborghini0610
      @lamborghini0610 10 месяцев назад

      It doesn't really matter what speed he does it at as long as he tests all cars at the same speed. He is likely comparing it to how it's rivals handle the same test before making a judgement. While 130km/h is fast (for Australia), it still gives you an overall idea of it's ride and handling.
      Just like slamming on the brakes from 100km/h isn't something that people do on the regular, and a car that takes slightly longer to stop will likely be perfectly fine around town with normal braking, but the test still gives you a good idea of it's overall braking capabilities.

    The overspend can be adjusted. Might turn on every time but you can raise it to a speed that will make it less likely to be activated. A lot of new cars have this feature that always turns on each time you start the car.

      @@lamborghini0610 I have been driving a Golf for the last eight years so I know all about that button (and so does my wife). It is still possible to forget it if you make a quick stop for petrol of something. IMHO there should be a warning chime (like with the seatbelts) to remind you to turn it off. It would save you the embarrassment of sitting at a green light waiting for the engine to start while people honk their horns behind you, as has happened to me several times.
      The only positive thing I can say about the Golf's Start Stop is that it has saved me about £800 in road tax.
      I'm not quite sold on the EV idea yet but can understand the attractions.

      @@MrDuncl Sitting at a green light with people honking at you? Sounds like something is wrong with your start stop system. While annoying, my old Golf would take no longer than half a second to start at the traffic light. In saying that, newer systems are much much better.
