I bought a 3d printer a few months back but was worried about the fumes. This helps a lot! Thank you!
If the Air320 is a bit too costly, Bissell offers the Air220 that uses the same filtration system for $100 less ($220-240)
The main difference is the Air220 cleans a slightly smaller room size due to it being a bit smaller. The front pre filter is also different in that it's perforated hard plastic vs a mesh on the Air320. So the Air 220 might be a bit easier to clean but have a slightly worse prefiltering
My husband and I were concerned about fumes and air quality in our small mobile home. Thank you for putting this video together. It was very informative :)
Use actual enclosure for fumes with ventilation pipes, you do not have to put the end of ventilation pipes to outside you can attach a massive filter on it, it will filter everything the downside is that this filter piece is expensive and heavy.
You are missing out the cheap diy solution (printing a filterholder with big fan mounted that sucks air through the active carbon mats)
Great video, I love resin printing but the smell is troubling. I’m going to replicate your setup thanks for the information!
I don't think the air filters actually remove the gases from the air. They just remove the smell. You need a ventilated space no matter if it smells bad or not
Thanks for a great, comprehensive, and quick video about these ventilation methods.
Great video, very informative as I'm just getting started with resin printing!
How often do you swap your carbon filters?
Thanks for the heads up on the Bissell and larger Elegoo filters. As a fellow resident in the south the humidity for filament (and myself, lol) meant i really want venting outside to be the last option.
How often are you changing the filter on the airmax unit? Carbon is only effective for so long. So I'm curious if it's more frequent
I change my mini carbon filters every 3 months. But if I'm printing more than normal I change the filters once they start to smell like resin themselves
A loooot of 3d printing folk are being waaaay too unsafe with their health man. Everyone should have a box fan with some carbon filters strapped to it in addition to a respirator mask *bare minimum* but they're out there just *getting used to the smell*. Like that'll save 'em from cancer!
Naybors installed one and wind blows fumes rite into my house next to shed hes got printer in. My lymph nodes on neck swollen, im dying and no one will stop this. #bonitasprings #florida
Would one of the anycubic filters be enough for an anycubic mono x or do I need two for it? It's winter in Canada at the moment and my printer is in my office (haven't been able to run a print for a couple of months).
You could if you have a constant way to keep it charged.
Question. New to 3D printing. Got a Saturn 8k for Christmas. I was thinking of using a large closet in my basement for a small station. It has a door. Would the charcoal filter that comes with the printer along with the bissel be enough to eradicate harmful fumes and the smell?
Well was it enough? Same situation here
Thanks for info didn’t know these type of filters existed.
Does opening the window and using a fan help aswell?
If I used the first 2 options would I not need to ventalate my box with a big tube to outside?
I won one... but now unsure and may sell. Option is my small office or an attic with no windows
Great video!
Can you buy the mini filters for the air purifiers?
Yes. They should be available on Amazon. amzn.to/46DcnHQ
I recently got an enclosure for my ender 3. How dangerous would it be if i didn't use an air purifier inside the enclosure when printing with just pla?
Filter really doesn't matter, it's a nice bonus to have but what you need is ventilation or you'll just get hit by all the accumulated fumes once you open the enclosure.
Fumes don't just magically disappear, they're trapped in the enclosure until the moment when you vent or open the said enclosure.
Thanks for info 🙂
I think the tech for resin is impressive but its still young & resin is still a no for me until a safe non chemical safe resin can be delevoped. i dont have a big space & have aquatic setup's so absolutely cannot risk any chemical fumes getting in contaiminating their water or worse my health
Hello there man, I only got one question, here it is, I have recently put my Anycubic Photon mono 2 in my bedroom, where it has a window and I have bought the anycubic air purifiers this week, the thing is, is that I am worried about the chemicals in the air because many people in the internet says it still is pretty harmful, Is it safe enougb my setup?
BISSELL® MYair™ + Air Purifier would that work if i made an inclosure for my 3d printer i have an anucubic m5 i belive it has a carbon filter
I have an air con/heat pump in the room I want to print in but no windows. If I run the air con as a dehunidifier, air con or heater will it be sufficient air removal?
I can’t be sure on that one but it sounds like a strong possibility
What’s the difference between the sonic mega 8k and the Jupiter?
Looking at the Jupiter it looks like it is a 6k LCD. The Phrozen LCD is a higher 8k Display. Sharper resolution = Sharper models
It’s odd that everybody keeps saying “activated carbon isn’t good enough” yet elegoo literally made a huge filter to suck the air out of your printer enclosure, and it got an award for cleaning the air out… and it’s just a bigger activated carbon filter.
Elegoo made a filter that filters smells, it does virtually nothing to stop VOCs which are the unhealthy part. Activated carbon can filter VOCs but not when used the way Elegoo or any other printer filters do.
“Removes up to 95% VOCs”
Doubt they’d open themselves to a lawsuit without actually know what they’re talking about.
We are talking about the MARS filter not the little usb one.
does it work with the elegoo neptune 3 max as well ?
Which part?
Thanks for sharing this. In your opinion would this work for resin pouring? I’m in an apartment and can’t modify the ventilation. I have an air exchanger that works well. I live in a cold climate and that’s not good for resin curing so I can’t just open a window in the winter. So I’m trying to find a portable solution. I know all resin companies say low or no VOCs but I don’t want to be inhaling chemicals if I can avoid it. TIA
do i need to buy BISSELL air320 i'm about to print in a very small room, and I already have the other two less expensive options. let me let u know that nobody will enter that room
I'm thinking of having a 3d printer in a shed on the back deck of the house and then putting these air purifiers inside. Would that be good?
IT would probably do fine. Also keep in mind you really should have the printer in a climate controlled space.
Hi. I am living in a studio flat in UK so it's very small and no ventilation. I really want a 3d printer but I don't want to risk my health. These air purifiers would be enough to be safe of fumes?
If you have a way to keep it charged than you can get away with one.
Do you have access to a window?
bump. same situation. I do have access to windows.
@GhostJager81 Yes I have window. I was thinking to place the printer under the window and use some air purifier next to the printer.
Especially on cold days you don’t want the window open the filter can help keep the smell down. Also take a look at resins. Some are worse than others. I like the PHROZEN eeesins due to the low scents
so those one that go in the printer are they enough for one printer if its in the same rooms im working in?
If you have one printer and thats it. It could be enough.
Nice video and very informative.
Can i use those filters on a Pharisee transform?
Pretty sure you can
I don’t have a room that I cant use just for 3d printing 😭
Just crack a window with a fan blowing out.
So for some that are only doing resin that would work. I am in goergia with high humidity outside. That is no good for my fdm machines. Had to find a good solution for both to live happily ever after. A climate controlled space makes for happy printers
