The day Iz died, I was driving home on a rainy afternoon. The local radio station announced the passing of Iz, and began to play "Somewhere over the Rainbow". Just as I rounded a curve in the road, the low sun came through and a rainbow was right in front of me. Tears were streaming down my face. Iz lives! And I vote for his version of "Take Me Home Country Roads."
I was stationed at Marine Corps Base Hawaii and had been accepted into a couple local families when Iz passed it was beautiful how the Hawaiian people took care of one of their own. Then I was in very bad hit and run car crash on the H1 and was pulled out of a burning car by a couple locals. They don’t just care for their own. They care for everyone. To this day I wish I knew those men.
Please listen and react to Hawaii 78 and In This Life. Hawaii 78 is a powerful song bout what Hawaiian people have been through with the overtaking by the USA. In This Life is a heart felt song that I know u would appreciate
I absolutely love Bruddah IZ. I lived in Hawaii long time ago and was so enamoured with the culture. They are so much like black people in their nature and spirit. Almost all the polynesian people. I named my daughter Leilani, a Hawaiian name, and I sing this song to her almost every night for bed. That is how special this song is to me. Thank You IZ. RIP
Give “Rusty Old Steampipes” a listen. Done by the Makaha Sons, before he went solo, so not really an IZ song. Such a wonderful voice and a true gift to all who are able to hear him
This is one of those songs that always made me tear up, even before it was played at my great-grandma's funeral. Hawai'i '78 is another one and you should definitely check that one like everyone said. Margarita, Johnny Mahoe, Men Who Ride Mountains, and Living In A Sovereign Land were my favorite songs growing up
Please do Hawaiian Sup'paman And Hawai'i 78 next (There is also a live version of Hawai'i 78 where you see IZ Singing it, the other one is from the Album)
If u don't already do voice overs, u should really start doing them NOW !! u have that perfect radio voice that would sound amazing for those audio books
Thank you so much sir, for reacting to this music. I have, and is still watching music reaction videos, and has never come across reactions to " island genre". This is much appreciated. I am so grateful.. 🌺
I happened upon this mans amazing piece White Sandy Beach and had to know more about this man and his amazing soul. It didn’t surprise me to learn that this piece that is his own work he claimed while he was still with us , that he didn’t know who wrote the song. His gift to humanity was his music. A perfect gift. Truly a humble spirit. I listen whenever I need lifting up.
Great reaction. A great song by one of IZ's contemporaries iz Brother Noland's "Magic Planet" it iz my favorite song by an artist from Hawaii (no disrespect to IZ) Noland iz right up there with IZ, Willie K, Kapena and many others too numerous to name, you should check it out on your journey into music from Hawaii. Thanx for the dive into Brada Iz, White Sandy Beach iz my favorite song by him, it brings back many good memories !!!
Cheeeeeeehhhhhhuuuuuuuuuu 💚🤙🏿Braddah IZ was da Man. Hawaii Cried for dayz when he passed. He was one of the only people the hard headed kidz in Hawaii would listen to when he scolded us
He didn’t write this song but he did make it his! His brother skippy, his uncle Moe Keale and his cousin Walt all have that same husky soothing voice. Of the four of them only Walt is left. His music is listed under name Keale. If you want my fave IZ song listen to Nohili E by the Makaha sons of Niihau.
one of the few people i knew who had a heart bigger then his body( at 600 lbs was kinda big). His prison ministry wqs important to him, and one of the first to tell me " Haole you not Hawaiian but you hawaiian heart is more then most" yeah he was gone before his time , and food the killer. thanx for doing IZ reactions
