Hey cav what make was that close up pad?
@@sleightlyperfection93 Got it from PropDog
I agree I own a variety of pads and I only use them to enhance video presentations. I have a mini pad on my bag but that's just to add professionalism when I practice/perform in coffee shops etc..
I used to think I didn't need a close up pad, then I got into to coin matrix routines and black art. Now I have 3 (two of which I made myself.)
Exactly
I'm just starting to learn magic and to hear your knowledge on close-up pads was 100% correct. That was something I needed to hear. I agree, If it's not going to be used in your act than don't practice on one. It's all about muscle memory so practice should be like it was meant to be preformed. ThanQ ThanQ ThanQ for sharing your wisdom.
I agree it depends on how you perform your magic.👍👍
Exactly. Different things work for different people!
I made by my self my own close up pad and that closeup pad also can turn to closeup table when i performing magic on the street... Save a lot of money😄
I agree with you. I saw Pandrea performing on a table and explained that, yeah performing in real time for real people in the real world calls for practice on normal surfaces like tables. I agree that it should enhance your performance. Good thoughts.
🙏
Well said, very good point. 😁
Thank you!
Harry Potter now is a card magician
😂
excellent advice
How thick/tall is the pad in mm? Thanks
I've always thought the same mate,
I was with you when you bought it at Blackpool and tbh I was thinking "When will he use that in performance" ahah
Phaha what about your table??
@@CavanBooth1 Aha. Not to self promote myself or anything but you'll see it in my new show!

I got a Dan&Dave close up pad and honestly the only time I use it is for photography purposes (also not at all related but where would I be able to get custom court cards thought I should ask you since your a J♦️
Daniel Schneider made mine for me!
I totally disagree. I have a closeup pad which folds in half and fits in my back pocket or jacket pocket. Restaurant tables always have junk on them, especially liquids which damage cards. Even a drop of water or tea, which is impossible to see, will damage a card. Plus, it's a bit of an intrusion to ask your specs to move this and that and clean up an area in which to perform.
And good luck doing a coin matrix on a hard surface. if you don't have any fingernails to speak of, it's next to impossible picking up coins and cards from a hard surface. The pad solves all these problems AND gives all your props an elegant backdrop which kicks up your performance into the Professional level instead of looking like you just walked in off the street to do a card trick.
I also dress with flair and style, not simply blue jeans and a t-shirt like I see so many magicians and musicians doing these days. Jeans and a flannel shirt are ok in a rowdy country saloon but I don't like performing for drunk cowboys and oil field workers. Been there....done that in my youth. I now prefer upscale nightclubs w/dress pants and a jacket which serves all my needs.
And yes, people love it when I pull out my pad, open it and begin with a coin routine on that plush blue velvet. Or a ring routine with a borrowed woman's elegant ring. The ladies always enjoy highlighting their jewelry on that beautiful, soft, blue velvet. Without saying a word, it speaks to my character and panache. But hey, that's just me. We each have our own style.
Simply said Close-Up pads are best used for table work.
Yep!
What is the trick you did in the beginning? Btw nice points!
Trick of my own, it doesnt have a name
Cavan, where I can buy some Just like yours?

CLOSE-UP PADS & TABLES
FEEL THE DIFFERENCE
If you do not perform on an expensive surface. Do not practise on it.
👍
You dont need one to be a magician. You DO need one to work coins on a table. And have you ever tried to fan cards across a smooth table? It is a necessary tool if you work on a table. So im not going to finish this video and i am going to thumbs down it.
Well damn, if you watched the full video, you'd see the point I was making was... exactly what you just said. Shame you felt you had to thumbs down a video before seeing the whole thing, that's a bit silly
@@CavanBooth1 well. Maybe you should have reworded your clickbait title and initial summary to reflect that. Instead you triggered a negative response. So. Ya. Thumbs down stays. You gave no indication that you were going to specify the NEED for a close-up pad. You chose to catfish your audience. You also choose the consequences. Nothing against you as a person. Just how you presented this particular content.
