Nice video back in 1992 when I was just a kid in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 my father was in a tournament for blue marlin and he caught a 379 pounder finishing in 3rd place , I was a toddler at the time but I remember the day we have a picture of that day of me and my father holding me next to the marlin I was really scared of that big fish even outside the water took my father 24 minutes to real it in we still talk about that day. The story with the marlin he caught that day was tag 🏷️ from Venezuela in 1973 and got caught in 1992 by my father landing him 3rd place on the tournament.
When I was working on charterboats as a teenager in the Gulf, a local tackle shop hosted a tournament and our marina was full of the most beautiful dipped out sport Fish boats I’ve ever seen with all kinds of crazy custom rods and reels and covers and it was just amazing and they had $1 million purse on the top Marlin so it brought in some big names. The last night of the tournament two boats came in and one said they had a fish over 600 and about 30 minutes later another boat radio that they had one over 900 and it ended up being a 683 and a 917 and seeing them on a video online or in a picture did not do any justice whatsoever for the actual size of these fish. The 917 pound fish was the most massive thing I’ve ever seen out of the water. It was just unimaginable how big it actually was so when you’re talking about a 500 being big and you wonder what a grander looks like I am right with you Because I have seen a 917 and it was unbelievably huge to the point that words don’t do it justice and nor would a picture.
I lived on the Island of Bermuda in the late sixties until 1976. It gave me a passion for fishing that has lasted me a lifetime, I even had a chance to fish in fish in the Rolex/IGFA Offshore Championship in Cabo San Lucas in 2006, I feel your passion
