So awesome to see Cal Sheets and his son on the boat, the work they've put into progressing the reel industry often goes unnoticed. Getting to see the gears turning in his head as he was watching Anthony fight that fish and how he could improve the reel was awesome, thanks for including that last conversation in the video before it ended!

Congrats to Anthony and the Bad co. Captain and crew. I remember the name O. B., from kona. It's been a few since my time fishing the big island from 1974-94. Again, I was primarily full time commercial fishing on my Force 30, but I did enjoy taking friends "holo holo", and I've always loved fighting big blue marlin! When I came to a point, where I chose to start releasing most all of my big donkeys, because they're all females, of course, I felt so good about it, and I've had such an intimate relationship with these magnificent fish over my lifetime, especially the times I went in the ocean to swim in and film some of the most incredible biomass build ups full of pretty much everything from small bait fish up to huge gorilla ahi and multiple big blue marlins!! I kept my first Grander because I was young and it was a huge goal of mine. I've lost several, especially fishing alone in rough water because they're usually long fights lasting hours, and it's exhausting, not to mention how difficult it is to do by myself, fighting the fish and driving the boat and chasing them, and of course leadering one up is incredibly difficult often!! When I finally made my lifetime fishing goal come true, and caught a Grander by myself, I really wanted to release the fish, but she had exhausted hers to the point I couldn't revive her. It's a mix of emotions, because it was such an epic battle for me, and I was so stoked and happy, yet sad that after desperately trying to revive her, she was just too exhausted and died. I just really have come to admire and respect these incredible massive top tier predators of the ocean!!! Stoked for you, and just enjoy the journey and time out there along the way and take what shots you get with gratitude! Yeah, for people who are not familiar with big marlin fishing, sometimes big fish will sound, diving really deep and then die, and it's extremely difficult to slowly get them back up, through techniques using the boat to slowly plane the huge stiff marlin up!! I've had fish off kona that we fought and then sounded and died, and it took 16-over 20 hours to finally get the fish up,fighting it well into the night!!! Sometimes it's just too much for many people to keep trying that long, but they're memorable times you'll never forget.
    Aloha,
    D.L.

The Heart never forgets the big fish.... This took be back to a time where my life was fishing central pacific. In the early 1980's fishing Commercial hook and line ONO fisher men , best time of my life catching fish living the good life. we Two of these strikes like those way ovwe 1000 pound fish ( Blue Marlin AKA A'U). The biggest was not more than 1/2 hr from the dock. Spooled a 16 O on a super unlimited rod 6 foot. . (home made stainless steel tick wall butt cased in terminal) . senator packed with 200 Ande line . Parted the line at the knot to the double lines . The REEL WAS SMOKKING. The fish was four foot at the shoulders. It could not come all the way out, it was smashing a path all fins showing tip to tail. Lost one our last big jet heads .. 1.5 " 3.5" .. 14" rigged....RED BLACK YELLOOW WITH Emerald Green focus top flash. yellow black under flash. flash red over black top flash - green over yellow top flash. . . 300 ANDE LINE leader . vary intense to take a strike like this... Hawaii Record 1805 caught on the is island of Oahu. KEEP!!!!!!!!! FISHING!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love the content . Antony and crew awesome.. Beautiful set up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am Day dreaming fishing that beautiful Bad Company... Any time you need a leader man in the islands i am available

I love what you're doing and in a very epic safari manner. Good stuff. I'm new to your channel and I've seen some of the comments along with your hardware. If you have the resources people say, have you considered going after the megalodon? If it's in anyone's reach, it's in yours. This is a fish that cruises the thermocline of the twilight zone and attacks whales that dive very deep. I also believe it feeds on other sharks frequently and likes makos most. You'd have to manufacturer your own gear. Probably want something in the 500 pound test range. You'd be trolling a 300lbs mako as bait between 2 and 4 thousand feet much like a massive swordfish deep drop rig. I don't think you need to worry about fluorocarbon because I think this fish comes in from straight below and hits it's prey around 80mph. Combined with the sharks hardware, weight that will cut a sperm whale in half. If they are doing that 2000ft deep and attacking from 4 or 5 thousand feet, that fish can strike in under 3 seconds. I don't think there's a lot of them but there could be. All this could be transpiring at those depths and we wouldn't see any signs of it. Fossil record places their feeding patterns in shallow water based on the tooth recovery locations globally but they may have come close to extinction and adapted to deep water feeding and stealthy hunting tactics due to a lack of prey density in shallow water. It would be a life quest, possibly a waste of time. There's also the chance you hook one because nobody is trying stuff like that. If I had your resources I would dedicate 1 year to hunting this fish. Only after I was convinced it's not out there I would give up. There's also the chance you get something we don't even know exists. I have a 38ft sailboat and its gonna be fitted up for Hudson canyon. If the gear and opportunity presents itself I may give it a shot. I'm also interested in deep dropping 5 and 6 thousand feet just to see what bites. The sea is a spectacular place and we experience so little of it
