So awesome to see Cal Sheets and his son on the boat, the work they've put into progressing the reel industry often goes unnoticed. Getting to see the gears turning in his head as he was watching Anthony fight that fish and how he could improve the reel was awesome, thanks for including that last conversation in the video before it ended!
My goodness the drone work in this episode is nothing short of award-winning. Really enjoyed the interaction with the guests. One of your best videos so far.
The production and editing team are doing a phenomenal job. Y’all are often overlooked, thank you for your hard work and the time it takes to make a video. I’ve been watching since mid-way through season 1, and I am truly invested in the journey. Tight lines boys
fantastic gesture from tony & crew for giving Johan the chance to catch a marlin this is something he will remember for the rest of his life tight lines Alain
Congrats to Anthony and the Bad co. Captain and crew. I remember the name O. B., from kona. It's been a few since my time fishing the big island from 1974-94. Again, I was primarily full time commercial fishing on my Force 30, but I did enjoy taking friends "holo holo", and I've always loved fighting big blue marlin! When I came to a point, where I chose to start releasing most all of my big donkeys, because they're all females, of course, I felt so good about it, and I've had such an intimate relationship with these magnificent fish over my lifetime, especially the times I went in the ocean to swim in and film some of the most incredible biomass build ups full of pretty much everything from small bait fish up to huge gorilla ahi and multiple big blue marlins!! I kept my first Grander because I was young and it was a huge goal of mine. I've lost several, especially fishing alone in rough water because they're usually long fights lasting hours, and it's exhausting, not to mention how difficult it is to do by myself, fighting the fish and driving the boat and chasing them, and of course leadering one up is incredibly difficult often!! When I finally made my lifetime fishing goal come true, and caught a Grander by myself, I really wanted to release the fish, but she had exhausted hers to the point I couldn't revive her. It's a mix of emotions, because it was such an epic battle for me, and I was so stoked and happy, yet sad that after desperately trying to revive her, she was just too exhausted and died. I just really have come to admire and respect these incredible massive top tier predators of the ocean!!! Stoked for you, and just enjoy the journey and time out there along the way and take what shots you get with gratitude! Yeah, for people who are not familiar with big marlin fishing, sometimes big fish will sound, diving really deep and then die, and it's extremely difficult to slowly get them back up, through techniques using the boat to slowly plane the huge stiff marlin up!! I've had fish off kona that we fought and then sounded and died, and it took 16-over 20 hours to finally get the fish up,fighting it well into the night!!! Sometimes it's just too much for many people to keep trying that long, but they're memorable times you'll never forget. Aloha, D.L.
Welcome back to The Azores! Been living here for 2 yrs now and I’ve watched you both times catch unbelievable footage and marlins . Bravo gentleman bravo.
