- This is a few days later after the repair BMW dealer I've done the upmost with all the directions from BMW to repair this bike. It clearly has failed. This was the outcome. I do believe that big Dealer has done everything they can and they're at the hands of bmw customer services so this is no reflection on the Dealer whatsoever Dealer is in Madenhead and they are absolutely fantastic if anybody is in the south of England and is having faults with the bike please contact them Bahnstormer BMW Motorrad Maidenhead
Watch the video draw your own conclusions my opinion is this suspension system has not been developed and we are the guinea pigs

I've had three GSs over 8 years. I've had problems with all three but to BMWs credit, they have sorted the problems with no quibbles. On the other hand, I have had no end of sidesliding and denials in other areas of my life where I have bought goods and they are not right. As a result, I have learnt a lot about consumer rights and have applied them, with great success. You have a very expensive issue that you want them to fix and they are trying. It's important to understand your rights and what you need to do now in the event that they either a) can't fix it, or b) stop trying or say that it's not a fault. You don't say how long you've had it but it's relevant to your rights and action required. You come across as an intelligent guy, so I'm sure you've got this in hand.
Totally true 100% All has changed
Got to love the internet sometimes.... you find the fault its identified and fixed by the dealer yet still people claim its perfectly normal for the bike to jump around like that... glad its all sorted and hope the others get theirs fixed quickly to
Here is some information from a forum.
If this bike is equipped with the Adaptive Height Control it will do this at low speed. This is how it drops the suspension. It also seems to back out damping as well as preload when it does this. I notice it on mine. If you put the bike in Enduro and Enduro Pro mode and you slow almost to a stop or come to a stop it will not drop the suspension unless you set it up with the rocker button in its option and manually drop the suspension. It will also drop when you put the kickstand down in that mode. When this happens you notice the lack of damping if you ride off road with it down. Dynamic and Dynamic Pro to a lesser degree will activate the AHC and drop to a lesser degree when you slow down.
I understand how the blank works, but my question is do bmw because right now my Bike has had £3000 of work done based on a push up and down in the car park and Azara Case were raised with bmw BMW UK deemed to change the control unit on the bike and the suspension unit, so unless I’m going madthese are not acting as per the manual
@@lifeisarideuk Sure does sound like something is wrong to me. I am just surprised at the non responses I have received from one of the largest BMW Forums? I have posted 2 of your videos and, nothing? Not really even a word? Perhaps, and I think so, many people seem to think it is normal. I will keep in touch with you and know too I am here to help if I can.
I'm glad I found this video!
I have the same problem! A fault appeared on the display when I was on a trip to southern Europe with my wife during very hot weather. Then errors appeared and the suspension stopped lowering. But other than that I didn't feel any other symptoms until I went on the trip alone. With the motorcycle unloaded, I immediately noticed that the suspension was very soft and the rear end became nervous. What's more, I experienced rear wheel skidding several times in fast corners! It was very dangerous and I lost a lot of confidence in cornering. I immediately felt that there was something wrong with the suspension!
Brilliant information. Anyone who knows bikes knows there is no way it should bounce that easily. Dude I think the ones who think it's crap must of already hit a tree
It’s possible 😂
Sorry to see you and others having these problems. I have a 2023 R1250R and it is the best bike I have ridden in 40 years. Touch wood it stays that way.
I heard on one of your video's that they fixed your suspension issues just curious of how they fixed it and what the cause of the problem was
Was not sure if mine was a problem but they checked yesterday and it has a controller unit fault causing the bounce !!!!! They say !
Finally, someone listening finally someone not telling me I’m talking shit go and check your bikes remember no fault on the dashboard
Since I owned the bike bought in April I have had 3 error codes for Suspension. Suspension error, Load compensation, Ride height adjustment not working. I have had it in to the dealer 5 times for this problem they keep installing new software updates and after riding for around 200km all the error codes come back on and the ride height stops working and it does feel a bit spongy. At a lost now what to do. The dealer thinks it will be fixed by the update. I think it has to be something else.
BMW.
Break
My
Wallet.
What an absolute embarrassment of a company. I had a bike and a car made by them.Never again. High priced rubbish.
Going to break mine
Bit harsh.... my experience of both BMW cars and bikes has been very good and the warranty service has also proved excellent. Having said that, these new GS bikes do seem to have more troubles than I would put up with personally. On a premium bike its simply not good enough. Imagine having an expensive all-new model of car that had a potential fire risk and when that was apparently sorted the suspension started failing..... you would do your nut ( well I would ). It certainly seems a good case for holding back for at least a year to see what troubles a new bike throws up (?) I definitely wouldnt be keeping one of these 1300's out of warranty thats for sure. All the tech is wonderful.... until it breaks. ( ps my demo 1300 broke down on test but I was totally underwhelmed by the looks anyway, and the cap on it was being recovered back to dealers)
Thanks for your honesty and alerting fellow riders to this problem. Please ignore the I know better than you brigade, no bike is safe floating up and down in an undampened, ie uncontrolled manner. Well done.
We it’s about time seams bmw have no clue what’s going on at the moment 😢
😅 im going to check mine. I'd like to think I would have noticed. But its getting the "bounce test" tomorrow 🤞🤞
How was it?
I am pretty sure mine has the same issue, sadly. I just returned from a 2-up, 3400km ride and it was quite bouncy many times. I have also had it 'drop' about an inch consistently while sitting at a stop light when I switch from any of the modes into road mode. One one occasion it dropped enough that I was flat footed on the ground. Being inseam challenged, the auto height adjust is necessary. I hope my dealer has the rappor with BMW that Bahnstormer does.
That pogo Police Academy Suspension looks so unsafe
I hope BMW sort this issue
Being 6ft I didn’t order the AHC for my 1300
Plenty of new owners will be grateful that you have highlighted this problem
Great video
Thanks for your support appreciate it, Back
I would like to see you doing the same sitting on the bike with it under load. I can see the software parameters not being set for a no-load situation?
I"m trying to understand what you meant by that without adjustable ride height, you would lose stability control that you needed for potholes?... Curious because I have a 1300 without adjustable ride height.
So you obviously have stability control unless you’ve got a rally
@@lifeisarideuk so what does this stability control actually do?.. auto brake one wheel at a time?
Sorry to hear this. I bought my 1300 in March 2024 and have covered 9500 trouble free miles. I didn’t add the adaptive ride height option as a 5ft 10in I can flat foot my Tramuntana model. Perhaps that is the issue?
I think there are a lucky people out there that have no problems
Normal or not you can’t ride a bike with a pogo stick suspension I don’t want that on pavement or dirt, 5mph or 50mph.
Sorry to hear about your suspension problems…bike not fit for purpose.. I bet it’s a nice comfortable ride with the bike floating like that!!!! BMW obviously need to sort this out asap.
Been on a 1250 , may go back !! I’m a bit done with this ,! Testing for bmw shit . 💩
Its bound to happen for a first generation product, especially when the system is more complicated than Harley’s version which is more mechanical than electronic. BMW does need to issue a recall tho since its a very dangerous problem
Well, so you’re not wrong there we are the guinea pigs mate free beta testers
I think you are just too Strong 😂. I've never seen anyone shake the GS like that before.
Just trying to demonstrate what happens when it’s written all the time at 30 miles an hour 50 miles an hour that’s how it rides
Thanks ! Thankfully I don’t have that on my bike.
I don’t want it anymore either
So the bike was fixed and the same problem is back !? Did I misunderstand ... ?
Correct and the bike was replaced with a brand-new one and the bike that we was replaced with is now faulty with the same fault
Just a quick one , does it change the characteristics if the riding mode is changed ? Or the damping in the settings?
No, it makes no difference
Mine has the same an I need a new suspension unit and controller what ever that is !!’ I’m very pissed I have been riding this around like this thanks 🙏 the uk 🇬🇧 man from life is a ride well done mate .
Anytime, hope you get it fixed and it works
Are you sure it’s not only like that when parked and in low mode and when you ride off it stiffens up? Have you tried it when the engine is running?
I am totally sure and so is the Dealer. They wouldn't spend three grand on it if it wasn't the fault and still they haven't fixed it. It's not down to their incompetence. It's down to Bmw's incompetence and not telling Dealer what the fault is.
My 1250 does the same thing in Enduro mode. BMW's ESA seems to be rubbish on some bikes.
£23,000 perfection not rubish
Let me ask you this question is this where I’m going wrong? Am I expect expecting perfection when it’s clearly not possible?
Yes, but when you’re doing 55 miles an hour you expect firm suspension in Enduro pro mode and in dynamic mode not floppy loose shit😂
Is this only an issue on bikes with the ride height adjustment feature?
yes
Suppression'? More precisely, it's called compression and rebound _damping_. Your demonstration is alarming, but I find it hard to believe that a company like BMW could have ballsed this up. I saw Davey Todd win the Senior TT on a tarted up BM a couple of months ago. Average speed in excess of 130mph.
I saw that too. That was a hell of a ride. It is an amazing bike when it works.
No good mate cheers
No disgraceful
BMW do seem to have a lot of problems.
Discouraging.
Very discouraging, but it's the best bike in the world for a reason when they fix it it will be perfect. Don't be discouraged go and ride a Honda Africa twin then tell me what you want
Never buy the first new model year...ever !!!
We are the guinea pigs. I have grown a pointy nose and I have whiskers and my teeth are growing long.
this is a ridiculous comment on many levels
I agree, I would not want to be a guinea pig suffering technology and other problems in new products. The factories seem to miss quite a bit in their testing sometimes or just ignore stuff.
Everyone knows that, specially when buying bmw
Why would you think that is ridiculous Comment? You think that Bmw produce something? It's totally ready for the marketplace more than you're living in a dreamland. They have to test it on us humans 1250 was the same
My GS has gone in today I did not even notice 🤬
Honestly I find it incredibly hard to believe a rider wouldn’t notice this.
Another One Bites the Dust😢
