I love this one, it's easily in my top three BAND-MAID songs. From Miku's guitar slides, Kanami's harmonics, Akane's ripping double kick, MISA's dirty but smooth bassline to Saiki's soaring vocals tying it all together. Even the video, being shot on 8mm film, is cool. 'Killer' you might say.
If Band-Maid isn't ripping your face off (Rinne, No God, Black Hole), they're soothing your soul (Bestie, Daydreaming, Manners). Song is a tribute to a favorite horror movie that pleases Saiki. The plot revolves around a serial killer that films the demise of his victims on 8mm film in an attempt to capture the departure of their souls from the land of the living to the realm of the dead.💀
"Rinne" aka "Reincarnation" is the title of a Japanese horror film where the killer films the deaths of his victims on 8mm film to try and catch the moment their soul leaves their body. The movie is a favorite of Saiki. The MV was shot on 8mm, or perhaps Super 8 to get that grainy, low contrast, look. The sprocket hole is an effect added later to enhance it looking like a homemade, badly shot/developed/projected, film. I love this song and video plus an amazing "Power Stance" by Kanami.
Years ago, I read on stream that there was some fuss about Band-Maid not playing or stopped playing heavy hardcore songs, so they came up with this song to prove those who commented wrong. This is why Saki says “Shut up” at the end, to shut up the critics.

Prior to the song, there were some ongoing comments from the fans talking how the Maids' songs were getting bit 'poppy' or similar. The Maid's did say in interviews that they do monitor many fan comments and also do watch many of the reactors videos < these are facts. So, take it with what you will.

Sometimes I think that as a composer kanami is a street fighter in a parallel universe. If she's faced with a posse outside a bar she can come on calm and sweet to deescalate but if she's in a dark alley and in front of some serious trouble she doesn't mess with the fancy footwork - hits them hard with everything before they can take a breath, knocks them down and keeps kicking until they stop moving and then walks home brushing the creases out of her clothes.

Lisa has poppier vocal like many Japanese singers. But yeah I kind of get what you mean. Band-Maid has heavier sound, deeper vocal (check out their live video and you'll see what I mean), which is a big plus for me.

This song is - in my opinion - one of Band_Maid's finest moments. And that for a band whose songbook is inpeccable. *Rinne* is a chef d'oeuvre.
