The bookmaker, William Hill was based in mallow during the war of independence as a Black & Tan, they were well paid, and after serving two years in Ireland he had enough money saved to open his first bookie shop in england
@@MrTomomahony according to their website he opened his first shop in 1934 , park lane in london, after his first foray into the betting sector in birmingham in the 1920s didnt work out
I love hearing success stories like this. The Irish Rebels fought well and someday the 6 counties that are in bondage will be free. That day will come. Thank you, Davy
These stories of Irish history are amazing .. these brave men were almost always outnumbered .. with fewer weapons .. and yet they pulled off these maneuvers with incredible skill and effect .. they did this each time using their secret weapons .. raw courage.. and awesome teamwork ., Thank you for keeping Irish history alive ..ar scath a cheile a mhaireann na daoine.... Im reading a book about Liam Lynch at the moment. For anyone interested in this time in Irish history. Its well worth a read. Your content is class as always Davey
Really is amazing how daring and brave the volunteers were and the planning that went into them. They left their foe alive something that the British wouldn't have done. Another great video Davy. Go raibh maith agat 🍀🇮🇪✊
Great to see the history of Mallow been told. 👍. May i suggest other ambushes you might want to make a video of. The Nadd ambush , Clonbanin Ambush. Rathcoole Ambush .Mourneabby Ambush. Also the shootout in Mallow train station. Love your videos 👍
Thank you buddy. For the war of independence, you can’t go wrong with Lorcan Collins’ book called ‘Irelands war of independence’. Movie wise, ‘The Wind That Shakes The Barley’ is a must!
As me(an Irish person living in Ireland)is very interested in learning about my country’s story!and if your reading this in your next video or next next yk?could you talk about Monaghan it’s where I live❤
I know someone, a friend of my das whos da took Part of the capture. That man Always has an Irish flag HAVING in Front of His House. ITS lovely to See.
Man, I was going to comment the same thing! Strangely was going to say Up Cork rather than Up the Rebels. Think I only say Up to the Rebels when watching hurling.
Hey, could anyone explain to me the origin and/or the significance of the harp seen on flags and insignia specific to Ireland? (At least I think it's a harp, it look like one) I play Crusader Kings and I started as an Earl in Munster and eventually united all of Ireland and formed the Kingdom of Ireland. Once you've done that, the game gives you a new "Irish Kingdom" flag, which is a blue background with a gold harp in the fore. I'd love to know the significance of it
