    The best running shoes of 2024 are the discounted shoes from 2023. Just picked up 2 pairs OG Topo Specter at under 100 bucks each Australian. Winning!

    • @phyo.lin19
      @phyo.lin19 Месяц назад

      this is so true ahahah. even discounted ones from Athlete Foot will be like $150-160 ish in Australia. Yeah, get 2023 ones. Some even outperform 2024, due to some brands trying sth new, and not getting there

    These are all nice. For me, I really enjoyed the Adidas Adizero SL2. Insanely good for the money!! I like the updates they made to the NB 1080v14. Not quite as comfortable as V13, but definitely a better runner. For me the Nike ZF6 is the shoe of the year. EVERYTHING wrong with the ZF5 was fixed with this shoe. It does everything well and it's reasonably priced! LOVE it!!

    Superblast 2 is a freak shoe, I still don't think anyone has caught up to it yet. The stack height with the lightness doesn't make sense. The fact it feels good running slow and amazing running fast shouldn't work but it does. Stability, breathability. The biggest weakness is the supply issue which says everything.

    My biggest suprise this year was the Brooks hyperion 2 , actually better race shoe then it's elite counterpart (that DNA flash 2 did not need a plate ) , The metaspeed sky Paris us a fantastic racing shoe , just shows what incremental changes can do if a company sticks with a formula I quite liked the NB 1080 v13 too and put in 400 miles in mine before giving them to charity (and they still had plenty of walking miles left) , quite liked the rebel v4 too for a value for money offering.

    @Sphaeristike Месяц назад +2

    No mention of Mizuno but the Wave Rebellion Flash 2 (bought this spring) for training plus the Wave Rebellion Pro 2 (bought by summer) for races was that perfect a pair this year that I haven't considered anything else. True problem is however that, with their beveled heel, these are not built for the average runner ; they literaly force you to lean forward and run in a specific way ; it truly takes time to ``domesticate'' them and can hardly be used once per week in the middle of a turnover between other shoes. Once you master them, they do however truly give unique sensations and it becomes difficult to look backward...

    SuperBlast 2 was definitely the supertrainer to beat in 2024, quite light and extremely versatile. Even though the fit is not perfect for me, loved the balanced energy return at different paces

    The Gara Carbon is really nice, for me it is not there with the fastest shoes, however, every bit of this shoe feels absolutely premium, while there are supershoes out there falling apart pretty soon. This is a real gem.

    My top 5: Not all 2024 shoes, but they were bought in 2024
    1: New Balance Elite 4 - Got them cheap (120€) and they are just excellent long run shoes. Bouncy, comfy fit, stable. Not my preferred race day (AF1), but great nonetheless awesome
    2: Adidas Prime X1 - Bounce and lovely long run shoe. Picked them up for 100€
    3: Adidas SL2 - Value for money is insane (70€)
    4: Saucony Endorphin Pro 4 - Super upper and natural roll.
    5: New Balance Venym trail - Just a great everyday trail shoe for good price (100€)
    Biggest disappointments
    1. Clearly number one. Superblast 1. Did 300km in them and its just a poor fitting blocky shoe. Too firm and too little bounce and insane price. I rather run in SL2.
    2: Skyward X. Heavy and just a blocky ride. Returned them fast.
    3: Nike Zegama 1. Just a disappointment. Odd fitting - as if your foot it too high up for the upper, and heavy. Poor wet grip too.
    Most logged KMs
    Puma Deviate Nitro 2, but it was bought in 23.

    For those of us who need some room in the toe-box Altra Vanish Carbon 2 took it to the next level in 2024. Drawback is the durability but finally a race-day shoe that doesn’t make you toes bleed out…

    I’m definitely in the minority but I think the Superblast 2 is overrated. I think it’s a good shoe but I don’t find myself gravitating towards it. I’ve got 40 miles in mine and don’t get the hype. I’d much rather use my speed 4s. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @AlexFilitti
      @AlexFilitti  Месяц назад +9

      I absolutely agree! The hype really has been blown out of proportion for the Superblast 2's. I sold mine and replaced them with the Prime X2 Strung and think it's a far better option

      I also put 125 mi on Superblast 2’s and found them too firm in forefoot as a midfoot striker, causing pain on soles of feet. Moving on to try Zoom Fly 6 while staying with Vomero 17’s for my Daily T, Speed 2’s for workouts and Invincible’s for long runs

    The Superblast 2 are nowhere near shoe of the year for me. My experience has not matched up with the love they've received from so many reviewers. To me, they feel chunky and slappy. I bought them as a long run shoe but have not loved them for that purpose. (I have about 75 miles on my pair.) On the other hand, I just got my Zoom Fly 6. Only two outings at this point, but just loving them already. Every pace I tried (easy, tempo, strides) felt great in these shoes. Looking forward to trying them for cruisy long runs and expecting them to perform well.
