1:10:00 Fear and guilt. I’m a 25 year old ESTP. Gave my life to Jesus at 18. Ever since, never had a problem with fear because I know where I’m going and why after I die and no more guilt because the blood of Jesus cleansed my conscience from dead works. The number 1 reason why there is fear in the world is because of the fear of death. You can talk to the most “confident” person in the world but deep down, they fear death because they TRULY do not know where they are going or what happens after. The books in the Bible explain it clearly. I’m not religious. Just had an encounter with God that changed my life and it was His love for me. 1 John 4:18 says that “perfect love casts out fear because fear involves torment.” Not just love. Perfect love. The reason we have all this hate on the world today is because people don’t know God. Anyone who doesn’t love, doesn’t know God because God is love. Jesus is the visible image of God. If you’ve seen Him, you’ve seen the Father. Btw, lots of scripture I’ve quoted. People only do the things they do because they don’t know love. So Father forgive them, for they know not what they are doing.
Good video, Taylor represents ESTPs well. One comment: I don't think Se is opportunistic itself. Se sees opportunities because it's so present. Our Ti-Fe will decide if we act upon it.
23:00 'I think you are the best representative for your type, I could find on the internet ' yes, Taylor is The Best... Te-rrific interview Joyce and Taylor. Good job!
Really identify with the discussion around Te vs Se mindset. I'm not comfortable being locked into anything, I need the ability to switch if something more advantageous or preferable comes up. As a result, my mindset is more one of awareness than planning - it's an awareness around "am I doing the best possible thing, given the circumstances," whereas Te would be more about purposefully arranging the circumstances it would like to see happen(Te might miss something while busy trying to arrange things - pros and cons to both approaches) [ESTP]
Te always comes with Ni or Si and that is not a good thing for actually pushing the limits thoughtfully. Both Ni and Si as top perceiving function tend to make the scope too narrow. I actually think Se/Ti/Fe is the best possible stack for achieving things and being right with what you're doing. Te users do the wrong things or use bad methods constantly. It's also better to have S over N, especially if you're Ti. That's why they're the entrepreneurs i suppose. ExTPs are so superior to ExTJs it's not even funny. Everything the ExTJs can do, the IxTJ can also do, apart from lead cults. But the ExTP is just as good of a cult leader.
INFJ. Agreed! Is the 5/10/20-year plan a TJ thing? For a start, I might be dead! Or paraplegic. Maybe I'll be travelling. OR, I may still be loving my job. That said, at 25, I did invest in a small property so I'd have somewhere to live in my old age (if I made it). Not a risk taker, but still hedging my bets. Thanks Joyce for digging up this awesome ESTP, loved the chat.
INFJ. Agreed! Given the great variation in cognitive stacks, the herd mustering of children through school does seem ludicrous. In a way, we already know that all rugrats are different, but mbti gives a nice non-pathological explanation. As a little kid, sitting quietly in class obeying instructions was so NOT a problem for me. But I had no idea what to do at lunchtime, in the playground, very socially stressful. Some quiet small group socialisation whilst the STPs played chasings would've been perfect! 👩🏫🤾♂️
I feel like shock value is a big part of what Se is. Maybe it’s a maturity thing but I think that’s where a lot of estps might get a bad reputation because they prize getting a reaction out of other people. Whether they are being overly blunt, or just diving head first into something. What do you guys think?
Hi Ryan, it's not the shock I'm looking for but the real person. If someone hides behind a mask, I will start poking because I want to know the true person behind the facade. So I can see how introverted types who withdraw into their shell might see us as aggressive intruders of their privacy.
Haha thanks estp baaf maybe I just had a specific person in mind. I do feel like if people don’t react to what your saying though it’s a drain on your energy. Like people taking things to seriously.
It's entirely possible to say "extreme" things that disrupt the mood, for positive purposes and with ample empathy. Sometimes that is the best thing to do in a host of situations. You want someone to break through a "dark cloud", or disrupt tension, in a social situation? We can do it. I've used this in my professional life.
My stepdad and I clashed for many yrs, but we get along better as adults. He is very intelligent and not some mindless adrenaline junkie. He is an adrenaline junkie, but he also held a city job until retirement + he had a night job then eventually held his city job + had a moving business. They're very wise and ambitious. He retired in another country and has a business out there. I admire all of the the "cool" aspects of ESTPs lol between motorcycle riding and scubing diving and hustling..my stepdad has lived it up lol
This is great. I don't know why I never stumbled on it before. As an ESTP, I'm so tactical that my nose has a Picatinny rail and my ears have M-lok slots. 😁 Seriously, I am a literal and metaphorical surfer. The notion of waiting for a swell then jumping on it, both on the micro scale and macro, is very natural to me. The grand plan, ESTJ style, feels completely unfathomable to me. I'm joking a lot of the time, but I weave it into ordinary speech without changing tone, so people need to know me for a while to know I'm joking. This does cause some shock, until they know I'm not serious. I've been told I drive like a teenager. My driving is exactly as he describes. I keep it legal, and I don't own a sports car any more, nor a street legal motorcycle, by design. But i like to max out my driving skills and tactics, even in an open Jeep. I don't want to die for no reason though. It's just about honing Se. Definitely libertarian minded. My family lived under Nazi rule, and my mind's eye puts SS uniforms on controlling people, like they're in an old Indiana Jones flick. I have put myself in the hospital with action sports, but not as often as I could have. But I don't smoke (any more).
10:04 it's interesting the discussion on ceasing opportunities. I view life the exact opposite to Taylor of how I go about things; I stack odds in my favor & heavily strategize to create opportunity instead.
I wonder if Se doms have difficulty seeing the *perspective of the passengers in their cars because of their inferior *Ni and thats why when they speed they have almost disregard for their passengers comfort factor? Just a theory. I have been in a car with someone where they ripped round and round in circles and they seem to ignore my panic and just got off on the excitement of the spin.
I would say for sure your observation is very synonymous with ESTP. I also think that 3rd slot fe is out the window for se’ s sake when doing something like that.. it is very se in that moment of sensation that takes over regardless of anything or one.. moreover, IMO its almost like se had to be one of the first functions (primitive), to exist before humans evolved.
Maybe at 16. One can’t be a healthy, mature ESTP without Se (keen observation of what’s going on around them) and Fe (regard for what other people like). So, this does not sound like a mature, well-balanced ESTP.

Hehe I wouldn't mind the speeding but if you drive like that my carsickness goes to 100 quickly. Hard acceleration, deceleration and feeling the body move in turns is horrible for anyone who gets easily carsick.
