It’s not even that he wanted to make him suffer, it’s that he DIDN’T want to kill HIM specifically, he ONLY wanted to kill GF and then leave Boyfriend but he broke their deal and when he did kill GF in Act 3 going into Act 4, he’s annoyed and upset that BF is so persistent, so he kills him in order to stop the senseless fight that BF was continuing, regretting killing him.
