I am liking the Black Adder references. We all need a Baldric.
That carrot cake perk is a WW2 reference. Allies got a major advantage when RADAR was developed, allowing them to make accurate night strikes with aircraft. To keep that under wraps as long as they could, they began spreading rumors that their troops were eating lots of carrots and had developed superior night vision because of it! Like the best lies, that is founded on true benefits of beta carotene, plus a little artistic license.
Probably the finest board and mini setup I've seen for a skirmish game. Really impressive, and a hugely entertaining game too!
The Knucklebones stuff is really evocative of early Warhammer art like Blanche, Hough, and Rees. His mini's really fit the setting.
Last War is great. WWI with a supernatural, post-apocalyptic feel just fits the bleak, odd, gallows humor of Forbidden Psalm. Knucklebones minis are great for the game. I grabbed some cheap Reaper Bones for some of the monsters that pop up and used a toy tank from a dollar store (painted and added onto with skulls and such for Last War goodness) to be the possessed tank. Your trenches look great. can't recall if you mentioned it or not, but are they DIY or a 3D print just added on to? The Forbidden Psalm series is one of my favorite Let's Plays (next to Don't Look Back and Zona Alfa). I was really hoping you'd play through Last War
Baldric is a character in Black Adder, a Rowan Atkinson UK TV comedy series. Series 4 takes place in WW1. He is obsessed with turnips and always has a (decidedly not) cunning plan.
I forgot about the turnip being his thing hahaha
Carrots help your eyes and I would assume it’s the classic “bread in a can” style carrot cake so it wouldn’t go bad as fast? That’s fantastic
SUCH a cool board, models and rules! Thanks for showcasing this game. I hope you try out a game of Killwager by Enemy Spotted Studios at some point! Love the Neill Blomkamp influences of the game.
Fantastic looking terrain and figures! The setting looks brilliant and the game had tons of character too.
I've been wanting to see some playthroughs of The Last War for a while now and its awesome to see it getting played.
OMG that terrain is awesome! I can see it works for Sludge too. This is great!
That game board is awesome.
Super excited for this series!
Geez that terrain is beautiful!
Loved Dog Soldiers, such a great flick.
Stunning looking models and terrain.
Loved that. Great game and damn those models and terrain look amazing. Have you considered using a mini smoke machine? Excessive I know, but I can just see the smoke snaking through those trenches.
So good to see this played, and the board and minis are amazing! I love knucklebones minis!
Trench warfare is a clumsy gritty slog, but Forbidden Psalm games are so fun to watch. The board and minis look great.
When I saw your mini fumbling and dropping the trench mace I had glorious flashbacks of The Meat Failure from Forbidden Psalms 😂 Love this game I waited so long for you to play it! Great table and conversions as always!
What a great table and setup! Fun video!
Perfect timing, I just assembled some WW1 miniatures this weekend to use in this game.
That board is gorgeous and clever
The dice were in rare form today! I thought you were going to be rolling up a replacement character for sure after all of that.
Enjoying the table! Great to see this game being played! I'm using some Anvil Industries models for my 5 guys. Need to get some good trench walls as I hadn't thought of that! I'll be looking into everything you've mentioned and (now) trench walls to make the table more thematic.
I have been working my way through this playlist the last couple of days now and I am loving it!! I hope you guys will cover either some of the expansions like the Mad Wizard or some of the stuff for the last war. But they also but out a Vampire/monster hunting game called "Dread Nights" set in a Victorian gothic era in a place sort of a mix of London or Berlin. it looks great I found a copy of it at a good price and it is on its way. I live in Ireland and if you miss out of stuff its hard to fet it with these games can sometimes get stuff from the UK but the taxes are alot, the US delivery alone is often the same price as a single book sometimes more! From time to time you can get things from Germany (English versions) at a good price.
Can't believe I forgot about last war. Got a new series to binge!
Looking forward to the rest of the series!
LOVE the Knucklebones minis range. Using them for a Mordheim warband (Chaos-Tainted Sorcerous Society), and since I've already got the War Piano, I might as well get into The Last War as well :-)
I've been looking forward to this.
I've been looking forward to the day you would showcase this game. I loved the Forbidden Psalm series - so much so that I bought most of the books.
This, now...absolutely PHENOMENAL table - please provide more details about the terrain? Self-manufactured? So evocative. I ogled the fine minis of Knucklebones, but saw nothing about terrain there. Info, please!
The trenchworks aren’t me. It’s all hand made by Matt at Knucklebones. The scatter terrain is from all kinds of places and was built and painted by myself. The trench system itself is beautiful; but frankly dead easy to make. It’s block foam, sand, wooden dowel, grass and lots of small details.
@@GuerrillaMiniatureGames Thanks. Yep.. Whatever minis you have for whichever series are great, always.
The beauty of this terrain IMO is the simplicity of foundation, the attention to the memory of location, to mood and detail within that frame, and execution of an >outstanding< representation.
>Simply< brilliant solution for trench games.
As many have noted your terrain is fantastic. I have a couple great war kits from wargames Atlantic that one day I'll leverage for a crack at this... It's the terrain that I have almost nothing suitable for.. That would take some doing. The immersion u create is marvelous..
i think u forget to bring an another random hostile on turn 3 ^^ but good game and very good miniatures ^^
Is there a video or tutorial how you made those trenches pieces? I love their flexibility and they seem easy to build. Especially interested in the "dirt and gras" mixture on top of them.
Awesome video! Really got me hooked on that system.
Eating carrots is supposed to help with night vision, (old-wives tale from before you were born), that's why carrot cake.
Ordered the books. I’m gonna use my WW1 miniatures. Regular guys trying to survive. No mutations or strange uniforms.
Brilliant looking game and more crazy fun to enjoy - great stuff!
Oh hey, Deathwatch. I've seen that movie. And Dog Soldiers! Calls to good movies are fun times.
Ash you are In my wallet again! Making me want another game. I owe you one brother 🤣
These minis are also on etsy, have a few myself they are really cool.
12:38 The Medic Rule is a cool interpretation for the action.; rather than the normal healing found in other skirmish games.
I keep seeing the science fiction version of this game as Rogue Trooper from 2000ad.
Weirdly, I kept thing of City of Lost Children. Which isn’t this but somehow my brain equated the two.
Fun Fact: Carrots promote healthy vision.
Ankh-Morpork Fact: Carrot promotes dwarves, trolls, werewolves, and vampires.
Its more a WWII misdirection/lie about allied radar capabilities. A we can see real good, its definitely not tech thata detecting your aircraft.
@@lt.qwerty6146 beat me to it! Came to point out the same.
The game looks realy fun, but the print version of the rulebook is dificult to find in Europe. Exalted Funeral only ships the book from Usa.
Great table for the start of another epic saga of socks and violence
Hope I'm not the only one screaming use your max damage ability Haha
I keep saving it lol
Fantastic! Will you be playing Kill Sample Process in the future?
I’m doing all of this in order!
Whoa, that's a cool game! I love this channel. It keeps me entertained and poor.
How did you make that terrain? Amazing table!!
WOW! is this terrain DIY or purchased ??
Just not even going to mention that the new issue of Blaster just dropped. Lol.
I had no idea! That’s all Greg’s show now lol
Gosh bro, time to trash that d20
How did you make the terrain texture?
