  • Sheriff Buford T. Justice (Jackie Gleason) is on a mission to find his son’s runaway fiancé and truck driver Bo “Bandit” Danville (Burt Reynolds) has no idea what he’s gotten himself into when he finds her hitchhiking on the side of the road.       The only low budget B film that was made with intentions of flopping at the box office, ended up being one of the best cult classics of all time. If you don't watch Smokey and the Bandit at least once or twice a year you're not American

    I was born 20 years after this was made and released and I’ve gotta thank my parents someday for introducing me to Smokey and the Bandit and having me grow up loving it! I have got to watch the whole movie/film again sometime soon.

    I originally saw this movie at the drive in back in '78 and it has never gotten old to look at from time to time. It takes me back to my youth and a simpler time. It was not a perfect world but if I could go back I would not hesitate.......

      Not to sound you know selfish anything but all the good ones are gone in music and movies all the guys that stood in meant for something back in the day they're all gone. And thats nothing more than plain and simple, good old fashion communism. I got two handed old Bert, he made 82, he had a hell of a good run. He outlived Jerry Reed by pretty good stretch

    I find it funny that Sheriff Justice doesn't care about all the Coors in Snowman's truck. The only reason he's chasing Bandit & Snowman is because of Frog.

      @@Paratrooper23 Transporting the beer illegally is part of the whole plot. Bandit's job is to distract the police so they don't find out. The only person concerned about Frog is Sherriff Justice. Everyone else is after Bandit for a mass of other reasons.

    Part 1 is clearly the best of the 3 installments. Sad that Jerry Reed, Burt Reynolds, and Jackie Gleason are all gone. Also, for truck buffs like myself, IXO has released a 1/43 scale of the KW tractor and under the Altaya name, the KW tractor with the iconic trailer.

    My shop teacher in high school looked liked, sounded like and cussed at us just like Jackie Gleason, that was in the 80s, in todays world he probably would be locked up because of his language but he was my favorite and many other’s favorite as well. All of us teenage punks needed to have that WW2 Navy Veteran yelling at us because it helped us grow up!

    One of the very few movies, where the synchronized version INTO GERMAN is better than the origin!
    The synchro company and the translating actors did a brilliant job! 👍
    1st you remember Burt and of course Jackie!
    ....but I do remember the beauty of Sally Fields 10/10 ... and of course Gottfried! 😂

    I don't understand why Burt and Sally never got along together. In 5 years of dating, she said he was very distant and things weren't good. He seemed almost true to his on-screen character.
