    I would give everything I ever known just to spend a day in the 70s-80s, go out to a bar, and see this man. So many others as well. I could almost make myself cry at the thought of it, but I am equally grateful to live in a time where I can listen to the best recording of a song at my very whim. RIP Roy.

      I met Roy at 12 yrs old backstage b 4 the show started. he was relaxing in a chair all by himself. Noome else but him. my 9 year old brother and his friend. no other people showed up at the place yet. we said hi. he with a smile said hello back. we asked if he was Roy .yes he kindly said
      you playing tonite right?
      yes Roy said.
      is that ur guitar Roy?
      yes. you wanna see it?
      ok
      He showed with pleasure to us.
      we daiid thanks and ok. well b in the crowd thanks Roy.
      Sure guys.
      So friendly he was.
      the other show he lut brother me and father backstage after show take a picture with him his arms stretched out around us all.
      what a beautiful person. true musician. incredible guitarist. and soul blues player
      here is one thing. I listened 2 sets of all his albums he recorded.
      Interesting he is that kind of player but he is the only player that I sense the word
      His playing is
      down right
      Spiritual! ( u dont hear that too much)
      R.I.P Roy

      I saw him at my Fathers Place a small club in Long Island a number of times. He blew the room away except for the 3rd time that I saw him there. He was so drunk that he only played a couple of songs, fell off the chair and passed out. There was a riot when refunds were denied. People were lighting furniture on fire and trashing the place. We got out fast. Crazy night.

    Roy Buchanan was indeed a remarkable guitarist. His passionate performances continue to influence many people to this day. The 1986 concert in Japan is an unforgettable memory for many fans, and the tragedy that followed shocked many.
    It’s truly wonderful that platforms like RUclips can spread his performances and bring his music to a new generation of fans. The guitar play of Roy Buchanan, respected by great musicians like Jeff Beck, will continue to be loved and his legacy carried forward.
    Listening to performances filled with Buchanan’s soul, such as “Down by the River,” reminds us of the power of music. It is my hope that his music will continue to be discovered and resonate with many more people.

    • @lindadote
      @lindadote 6 лет назад +6

      Donald Elley .........I read there was a long-running feud between Roy and certain cops but it’s always hard to know what’s accurate and what’s “gossip”. That said, I’m in total agreement with you - I simply can’t believe that a “God-fearing” man such as Roy would ever contemplate such a thing and there aren’t a whole lot of alternate explanations.

    • @oldgrannywheels
      @oldgrannywheels 5 лет назад +5

      I was picked up by cops once while I was drunk and bacame a crazed wild man and said thing to the cops I couldn't even believe the next day. It was because I was heavily under the influence and really felt I was being taken against my will for no reason at all so I felt justified in what I said at the time. I wouldnt have guess I would have done this, but I'm guessing Roy did the same and they tried to choke him out and suffocated him.

About a year later he played there again so I went totally straight and the same thing happened, tears flowed and I can only say it was Roy's playing reaching my soul that did it. Not much facial expression while he played, and they were small. Wonder if it was recorded?
