Thank you for the tutorial. I have a new to me x5 that was poorly treated. Was basically left uncleaned with paint in it for about a year. Took it all apart, cleaned everything up and it seems to work but the pressure pump is not behaving as I think it should. I am testing with water only. It seems to prime fine now. When I spray, I have to raise the pressure and the pump will cycle, never run constantly. I’m thinking I didn’t assemble something correctly.
There might be a blockage somewhere in the syustem. Unfortunately if it hasn't been treated correctly, you may need to replace the pump, or the main spray hose to solve the issue. There could be paint in the inlet value, or the prime valve that would also be causing the issue. I would recommend taking the unit to a service centre if you get stuck!
Nice video. I have a year 2000 Magnum XR7 sprayer with no more than probably 40hrs on it. I can't get it to prime. I'm doing this with water for starters. The pump runs & prime/spray valve is set correctly but it only sucks water to top of filler tube and no further. I watched Graco's failure to prime troubleshooting video and checked all the filters, inlet valve etc.. I even tried power flushing it. Funny thing, my inlet check valve has a ball & washer but no spring.
mine wouldn’t suck the clean water while priming havent used it in a while so all i did it hit soffly in the metal valve and worked right away so great the ball was probably stucked
I have a refurbished X5 that I bought about 9 months ago. I just tried using it this weekend. It primes just fine but when I switch over to spray, it makes one little noise and then nothing. No spray at all no matter where I put the pressure knob. I tried it last weekend, cleaned it up and tried again this weekend and nothing. When I take the spray hose off, nothing is in it. Any suggestions?
You mention “cleaning it up” … what would be best way to do this? Would a wire brush be too abrasive? Or soak + clean with a specific type of cleaner / solution? Thanks in advance, and thank you for the great videos!!
Thanks for your comment! Definitely a mix of a soft bristle brush, hot soapy water and thorough flushing of the machine is the way to go. Hope this helps!
Does the Graco Magnum DX also allow for the inlet valve to be removed? I can prime my unit but when I switch to the paint bucket, depress the trigger, and move to "spray", the pump immediately cuts out. All screen are clean and I have a new tip. I watched your video and went to clean the inlet valve, but I can't get it off... I can use a "cheater bar" on the handle of my socket wrench, but I don't want to break something if it isn't meant to come apart - thanks! Great video - I learned a lot.
Thanks for the videos. The problem that I have is that the spryer pops the Circuit breaker when it's turned on. It all started when I was priming the machine for cleaning the breaker popped please help
My graco machine is running non stop and with tons of pressure at the gun. There is also some paint by-passing through the smaller exit tube back into my paint can. Shooting interior latex trim paint. Is it not sensing the pressure at the regulator and just running away with itself?
Hey, great question! I would typically just soak the parts in a white spirit like methylated spirits and then use a bottle brush to brush debris off the parts. I would then rinse them under water and install them. When you prime the unit with Graco Pump Armour that will lubricate the internals. Hope this helps!
After 25 minutes of spraying for the very first time worked great, got 2 ceilings done and moved on to 3rd, halfway through the pressure went out on my gun. The Magnum X7 wouldn't suck paint, motor just ran....went through 2 hours of videos, followed all the steps and no help. New paint, new machine, parts were all good to go, not sure why it just stopped working??
@@maribelramirez4545 No, was told by Graco to take it in to be serviced...as soon as I find the time...which means I'll never get it fixed and just end up buying a new sprayer.

These pumps are worst on the market. They're great first 2 uses then the micro thin plastic seal on the piston adds up , and wall 300 dollar paperweight
Be a man and put the machine upside down when reinstalling the spring and ball! My god dude! "Get your dinky punch to help line up the spring and do this sideways...."
I couldn’t fix mi e till I find you video ! You the man!!! Thank you !!!
Glad we could help!
Only thing I'd say to do would be tilting the unit upside down for the spring/bearing install. Great video thanks.

Great video. But how to free the pin if seized, like I have, obviously caused by not cleaning properly.
Thank you bro! I have my x5 working back again
Salve my day , thank you 🙏🏼
