This is my favourite opening intro of all time. It just captures the essence of the programme. It doesn't try to bullshit you or try to be over the top, its just a boring, dull, grey 70s industrial estate. Thats life.
@@bluekid5099 it doesn't work with the English like the UK office does, lot's of people watching the office have been in a situation like that, but the US office seems quite happy go lucky and everything.
Whilst both shows are great, I just can't see why people bash the uk version for being depressing. That's the entire point of the series, to cover the monotonous, tedious lives of people working in a British trading estate. Most of England is not "merry old England". A lot of it is shithole, grey industrial areas like this. You wouldn't bash a political satire because it shows politicians making mistakes and mocking them for it, because "it's mean to insult people". Whilst I admit the US version is much more approachable in it's humour, the uk version is definitive to those familiar with British life, and to say that it is bad because it is "sad" just reinforces how well the show represents the lives of people in that particular industry. It may not be your kind of thing, but that doesn't make it objectively shit, making one better than the other.

It's hard, when one is in that kind of job, to face up to just how bad things are. I was lucky. I managed to change my job & life around. The biggest problem for me was the behaviour of almost all the people I worked with. This wasn't even in a trading estate. It was an office in a prestigious university (then again, maybe that's what brought its own problems..) After a decade of that, I'm afraid of ever working in an office again, because of what it does to my view of humanity. Meet people in all sorts of scenarios. Just don't work with them..
Just for the record. Most everything in the intro has been demolished. The Crossbow House, where Wernham-Hogg was based, has been demolished. The Brunel Bus Station and Car Park has been demolished. The roundabout was demolished. Most, if not all, of the concrete officer towers in the intro were demolished. Really nothing recognizable left at all.
When I see this intro the message I get is "this is business and this is as mundane as it gets". When I see the US intro I get "this is business and these are the people that do business". Both shows are great in their own right.

Sadly nearly all the infrastructure in Slough shown in the intro has all gone, even the pylons in the background of "The Office". The only thing that stands now is the black sign directing trucks to the trading estate. The Brunel Bus Station and roundabout was my favourite but now it's just a crossroad and some fancy office buildings.
