hmm i find him funny but having lost someone to suicide i dont find any kind of suicide joke funny ... there is dark humour but the person was right there ... i feel comedians have normalised suicide jokes and school shooting as if its nothing .. but if someone has lost anyone to either of them they would never laugh and thats shud be the case of others too ideally but welp .. just my opinion
I understand what you mean.. you just have that extra depth and knowledge of what's going on in that mind. I'd say yeah you do need to be a little detached from the situation to be able to laugh freely. But you can't say not laughing about it will make things easier. That's how people cope most of the times, though sometimes it may feel inappropriate.

As someone in the military where everyone and i mean everyone has either dealt with those struggles or lost someone to it i find it hilarious
