- Ajvar is a delicious Balkan vegetable spread made of roasted red peppers and eggplants.
Recept na srpskom pogledajte na mom blogu - www.soibiberbl...
I bought a jar of this spread from Trader Joe’s. I used it today to make a lentil loaf sandwich ( I’m vegetarian). I’ve never tasted a better sandwich. Needless to say I immediately wanted the recipe to make this spread myself. Thank you.
@@kumabear3529 homemade ajvar is much better. You will be delighted.
I am going to try since I like ajvar so much.
I have just tried this recipe and the ajvar is absolutely gorgeous. Thank you! 😊
Just one question, how long the ajvar will last if stored in a dark and cool place?
I am glad you like it. If you apply the method described in the video you can preserve ajvar for a few months in a dark and cool place. However, I always keep ajvar in my fridge, because I am not sure that my pantry is cold enough, so I never tried it.
That looks delicious...One tip my baba left us was to cut the vegetables with a wooden knife...I really don't know if this made a difference, but hers was amazing.
this stuff goes amazing with rice too, it's my favourite way to have white rice now
Never thought about eating rice with ajvar, I love bread and pastry.
Wow so good! Thanks for sharing!! 🔥❤️🕊
Looks delicious thank you. I have extra peppers so I will try it.
You will be amazed with its taste.
@@ivanalalicki I just made some last night it was magnificent. I simmered the garlic in some grapeseed oil while roasting the peppers. Then I cooked the peppers and eggplant for a while to evaporate the water and it got thick. I slowly stirred in the garlic and oil with some sea salt. I water bath canned it for 15-20 mins for half pints.
It's exactly the ajvar I used to buy in the store! Many thanks for the recipe I will make it I hope with success like you ❤
Ha, I was making ajvar yesterday! I hope yours will turn out well too.
Looks great making it tomorrow
I need to try this now, I have only had some that I bought at the store.
Which brand did you buy, some of them are very good. However, try to make ajvar, it is fun.
@@ivanalalicki the brand I bought was Wildfare.
@@salsaslinger7585 Never heard of it, it's an American brand, from NYC. I always buy the Balkan brands such as Mama's and Granny's Secret, they are the best.
Excellent recipe and video! I have started utilizing Ajvarski peppers that I grow. Delicious and high yield plants. I get the seeds online at Baker Creek Seeds.
Yes, they are better than bell peppers.
Can you eat it raw or you have to cook it like spaghetti sauce
Ajvar is already cooked after the peppers are roasted and ground. It is served as a spread or condiment, paired with meat, cheese, and pastry.
@ivanalalicki I bought my first jar from Walmart, I didn't want to open it then eat it with out cooking just in case it might get u sick, that's why I asked if you need to cook it first?
@mikeprime5028 no, you don't need to cook it.
@@ivanalalicki ok thanks
@@ivanalalicki do I put it in the fridge after I open it?
Ajvar is an original Macedonian dish :)
I think it would be easier to remove the seeds from peppers before roasting them.
No, it is easer to peel the peppers later when they are whole.
Yeah I think so too. Peeling, sure, but removing seeds seems much easier before roasting
@@giorgig4828 I would think leaving the seeds in while roasting would add to the flavor profile of the roasted peppers
Beige people in the comments fighting over which Balkan country is the beigest are why my grandma never visited home
I believe you need to add some spice. Like hot fefferoni
Go ahead, add some hot pepper, I am too sensitive to spicy stuff. I prefer a mild ajvar.
🤦♂double dipped.
That’s not Serbian.

Ajvar ist not Serbian
Says who?
It's Macedonian, the best Ajvar is Macedonian @@ivanalalicki
Ne bih rekao, rec paprika je Srpska i ceo svet je koristi.
@@BigSaleGolem sta je srpsko? Paprika??
It’s not SERBIAN FOOD, AJVAR IS ORIGINALLY A TURKEY VEGETABLE SPREAD AND OTTOMANS BROUGHT THE RECIPE ALL OVER THE EUROPE.
It’s is very popular in former Jugoslavia countries… Macedonia, Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia, Kosovo, Slovenian and Monte Negro!!🇨🇦
As a half turk, who cares. The country origin obsession is annoying. Just enjoy the food and the similarities of our cultures.
Why the caps? Are we SHOUTING?
@@anotheryoutuberperson38 you put it well! People should enjoy making and eating food instead of arguing and being so annoying.
