"That's Why People Find It ANNOYING!" - Labour's Oxford City Council To Let Staff 'Ignore Public'

- Labour’s Oxford City Council has now implemented a new policy that allows its employees to decline interaction with individuals they find irritating.
This policy, known as the "vexatious behaviour policy," provides guidelines for council staff and councillors on how to handle individuals who make complaints or inquiries in a manner that is deemed “abusive, persistent and/or vexatious”.
The policy includes measures such as limiting the frequency of contact between the council and these individuals, as well as requiring a witness to be present during face-to-face meetings.
Under certain circumstances that are considered "exceptional," the policy permits staff and councillors to completely avoid any contact with a citizen if their safety is deemed to be at risk.
Mike Graham asks Deputy Council Leader Ed Turner how many Oxford Council staff work from home, after it said workers can ‘refuse contact’ with the public.
Ed: "People keep calling us... we do this job part-time." Mike: "Maybe that's why people find it so annoying!"

Some people may be annoying but it's them paying their wages and gold plated final salary pensions, Labour don't care about the working class or the public in general tey're too far up their own backsides and believe that they are better than everyone else, they're showing their true colours and their contempt for those they want and need to put them in power. They used to call he tories the nasty party, well Labour have taken that title from them well and truly.
Having worked there, albeit 30 years ago, most of the people who were troublesome were on benefits so didn't pay the wages.
I find the Council staff annoying. Especially when they ask for money and do nothing. Can I ignore their requests for money?
Labour councillors definitely ignore some people. Maybe the ones they think "should shut up for the sake of diversity!".
Don’t annoy people then do your job you get well paid for
Exactly. Most Public Sector workers are Snowflakes & cannot deal with any reasonable & justified challenge on the phone, let alone face to face ❄️
So instead of the person who shouts the loudest and is the biggest nuisance to the council all the public will have an equal voice?
That means we should ignore the entire council . Is this a Monty python sketch ??
Labour ran council here in widnes do the same. Boarded up shop windows empty town centre endless roadworks and hundreds of turkish barber shops lol
Same in St Helens and Newton-le-Willows it's like the Zombies have taken over.
@@kennyjackson1234 ridiculous isnt it. Im expecting these ulez zones to be rolled out too when labour get in
@@alexrobertbrian Warrington is not too bad but look at how much money they owe,its not going to get any better.
@@kennyjackson1234 the warrington council nearly went bankrupt earlier this year apparently lol. The same thing happened to labour ran Birmingham council too
I used to work in the Oxford City centre office in the mid 90s. I can tell you there were a number of tenants who were extremely troublesome, and very manipulative. It was so bad that I chucked it in to go and work in a warehouse.
Most councils are the same with staff working from home, you walk in to find council tax payment counters closed, with £1000s worth of equipment sitting idle, with one holding the fort on reception, is it deemed that dangerous and infectious to work in a council office today, remember that day the Blond Porky Teller said we have to learn to live with it? or deadly on a Monday but live with it on a Tuesday? that's government guild lines for you "Make it up as you go along"
Oxford City Council are irritating.
If anyone has made the same point, complained about the same issue, or repeated their gripes on the same thing, then there is a natural human reaction to it - we deal with it, no matter how many methods by which it has arrived.
This is just publicising something which should be internal and a matter of common sense. I guess that, these days, the people working in these places are so dumb, they are unable to organise their workload and recognise a duplicated communication.
During my working life, this was something which was immediately identifiable and my own brain-power sorted out what was referring to the same problem.....it's called IQ and a bit of intelligence.
And what about the public who find the council irritating what action can they take.
Dealing with difficult situations is part and parcel of their employment status survey.? It is obvious this is a process that will be used to halt conversations with constituents who are asking questions that this council can't, won't or don't want to answer.
Like all stupid laws they can be misusedie racial discrimination
Why ar3 council members are working from home? When others can't?
The people pay your wages so do as the people tell you or the people might stop paying your council tax
used rarely ?? lol .. watch this space
If you’ve ever worked with the public and been assaulted just for doing your job, you’ll understand how dangerous some people can be.
That's fair enough, but being annoying isn't assault.
Same principle as vexatious litigants
Not an issue
It's Liebour, we all know what's coming next, I have a very funny feeling that certain people from a certain religion won't be the ones being ignored for some strange reason? Let's let's be honest, the ordinary or the so called "far right" will be the only ones who will be getting ignored.
Not feeling safe is subjective, it does not mean their under any threat, it's normally pathetic anxious people scared of their own shadows, who are employed by councils, man up or fade away,
