    David Castro Balbi was born into a family of long musical tradition. He began playing the violin at the age of five at Besançon Conservatory in Bernard Mauppin’s class where he got his diploma in musical studies (DEM) at the age of 13. In 2007 he was accepted at Paris Conservatory in the class of Larissa Koloss. He received his Prix Supérieur unanimously two years later. Also in 2009 he entered Svétlin Roussev’s class at the CNSMDP
    He also Got "Diplome De concertiste" in the Ecole Normale Alfred Cortot" in Paris.
    David Played also as a chamber music player with,
    Diana Ligueti, Marc Bouchkov, Alexandre Castro-Balbi, Thibaud Epp, Lucas Debargue ....
    Furthermore, he is a founding member of Trio Suyana which got accepted in ‘Quatuor Ysave’ chamber music at Paris Conservatory and then by the Artemis Quartett in The Music Chapel of the Queen Elisabeth in Waterloo (Belgium)
    David has been chosen at the age of 15 to play with l’Académie Internationale de Musique at Victorial Hall in Geneva, and at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris under the conduction of Seiji Ozawa in June and July 2009.
    He was awarded several 1st Prizes in national and international solo violin contests and chamber music.
    He won 1st Prize at the Young Artist Competition in Colorado (USA) and at the Mirecourt International Violin Contest where he played Mendelssohn’s Concerto in E Major conducted by Jacques Mercier with the National Orchestra of Lorraine.
    He is also laureate and received the audience award at the international Jeunesses musicales de Belgrade contest where he performed Shostakovich’s Concerto for Violin No. 1 with Belgrade’s Radio-Television Orchestra.
    In 2012 he played Saint-Saëns’s Concerto (Op. 20) for violin and orchestra and Havanaise with the Bordeaux’s string ensemble conducted by Jean-Jacques Kantorow. He also played in Morrocco the double Concerto of Brahms conduct by Olivier Holt:
    In 2012 he succeeded at the Académie Internationale des cimes de Val d’Isère in Larissa Koloss’ class.
    He won the 1st and 4 special prizes, among them the EMCY Prize, at the International Louis Spohr Competition for Young Violinists in Weimar in 2013.
    In chamber music, he received the 2nd Prize and a special Prize for best interpretation of a contemporary work imposed at the International ‘Franz Schubert und die Musique der Moderne’ contest in Graz (Austria) and the 1st Prize at Bacewic International Contest in Lodz (Poland) with Trio Suyana.
    David is currently studying at the HFM Weimar (Germany) with Dr.Eichhorn.
