I was born and raised in a muslim household until I moved to the Philippines and spoke a completely different language. I don’t have any friends or relatives or live in an arab community anymore. Eid (عيد), to put simply, comes from the verb يعيد or to repeat because it comes every year. That's what holidays/eids are ;)

hispanichic18 the call to prayer includes the name Allah and muhammad who both denied Jesus deity, death and resurrection. Christmas is haraam according to islam so the timing isnt that perfect. Hehe

We also say kul' eid w entu bkheir in Syria and Lebanon, I use this phrase the most, christmas, easter, all holidays. For easter we say maseeh qam a lot too. Do you say these things in Palestine too?

Back around 1966 when I working in Gaza at the hospital there, we were taught to say "Eid Sayid oo entu/ente Majid". Sorry for my spelling but it has been quite a few decades ago and my memories aren't as accurate as they were way back then.

Assalamu alaykum sister. As Muslims we are not allowed to wish a merry Christmas to Christians because that means insulting Allah who has no children. But you can be kind towards your Christian acquaintances/ colleagues and call them to Islam with your good manners, words and attitude. In sha Allah this reminder will benefit you.
