many of these performers had their careers launched or greatly aided by john and june...they truly were as dedicated to other artists and to their fans as other artists and fans were dedicated to them...the man in black and his wildwood flower will live forever!
I was made to listen to this every weekend, when I was a kid, at 4 am, going out fishing. My dad was always hung over and I was his son. The songs get better every time I hear them. 40 years and counting. RIP Mr Cash!
There are lots of great music artists, past and present, but Johnny Cash stands alone as the greatest. He transcended all styles and was beloved by millions worldwide. I've been singing some of his songs at our local Opry and the people love it. Of course, to do it properly...I dress in black! We miss ya Johnny & June...but you've earned your rest in Heaven. I'll see ya when I get there some day.
I remember this special on TNT like it was yesterday, wow does time fly by., This concert still brings tears to my eyes., God Bless you Johnny, I miss ya terribly......You're a living legend!
I am going to correct you here. He wasn't a country singer. Johnny Cash was his own genre. He is in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, Country Hall of Fame, Gospel Hall of Fame and the list goes on. He was so much more than the best musican. He is a legend.
I'm from Mexico and since I see the movie about Johnny's life I fall in love with him, I think he was an extraordinay man a an never is going to be an other like the ONE AND ONLY JOHNNY CASH!!!!
Love the Man In Black!! What it took for him to be able to perform in this concert is incredible! I read about it in the book by Marshall Grant. after reading that, it’s hard to believe Johnny could perform at all, let alone at such a high level.
Both are great singers!!!!! Love them both!!!!! He deserves this special. Rip Johnny and June carter cash!!!! Both of y'all go rest on that high mountain
Great memories watching this that night & the cool thing was TNT aired it again in its entirety right after these closing credits stopped rolling-as that network was prone to do then for music specials & b-ball all-star games. Beautiful!
The only person I didn't see there was Waylon. If he had have been there, Highwaymen Reunion!! Maybe he was sick that night, but hopefully he watched it. I wish I could have been there but I was five at the time. RIP John.
No, not at all. Waylon passend on Feb. 13, 2002 away. This concert took place on april 9.1999 that means nearly 3 years before his passing. Maybe Waylon was ill at that time so he couldn ' t make it. / CD
@@corneliadenninger5395 Waylon was having problems walking around the time of this tribute show (due to circulation issues in his legs as a result of diabetes and back problems).
When I was younger I always thought the woman at around 2:10 (Rosanne) was just a very keen fan, but later I realised it was his daughter, but actually, my initial thoughts are still true.
The GREATEST Country singer EVER and EVER !
heroes live for a long time, but legends never die

When he got older, as such in this video, his voice got shaky. In his earlier recordings his voice sounded great. It matches his songs perfectly.
