I always like how you always mention the developer and publisher behind the game so nice to hear that you videos are so great, watching from south Africa man good job
Agree, he even gives links in the description too! I see so few RUclipsrs bother to do any of this. But honestly, it should be the bare minimum for anyone with Journalistic integrity. But given the sate of things these days, I'm always grateful when I see it👍
In terms of customization, MM1 excels much more than 2, but MM2 is a great game on its own merits alone and it still holds up, even today. Thankfully, the addition of more cities is easily remedied by the number of mods you can download from MM2 Extreme and the 3rd game in the series also deserves a look. I can only imagine what a reboot would look like, complete with Forza 5-level graphical fidelity, customization options on par or surpasses the first, second, and even 3rd games, online leaderboards, DLC, and more. Especially considering Microsoft owns the franchise. Man, I wish this series would comeback. Someday.
@@tropixx_xlr1549as a person who lives in South East asia I've never been to San Francisco. Is it really like how the game depicts? Crazy sloped roads and all?
This game marked my childhood. I did enjoy your review and I believe it’s a pretty nice one, very objective and considering its age and its context. Thank you so much for the video and I really appreciate you shared the installation process and mod community info. Thank you
Hands down one of the best driving games ever made, and one of my favorite racers of all time. Thanks to hook and mods, it's a million times better than before.
The amount of hours that I spent on this back in the day is imesureable. My original blue CD is nearly unreadable. It was also the first ever game where I installed mods ever. Great times. This game also felt like it was somewhat rushed though the door for its launch. Since my own copy didn't have any soundtrack or that annoying jump sound effect.
When it comes to racing games that had an impact on me , this one is up there with games like NFS 1 and GT 1 from my life experience. I still have the original need for speed, first racing game i played. Gran turismo was different from anything i had experienced when it released. This game was the first game that introduced me into free roam racing. Countless hours on this game just cruising around, the visuals for this game aged well for me, it has that 90s-00 charm to it.
the new beetle rsi/ new beetle cup car had some nice paint jobs. the weirdest mod I had was a UFO invasion in San Francisco. Instead of floating in the water, you would be lifted up, sometimes directly under a large UFO (the cop cars were "men in black" cars, but aliens in disguise). you could see them high in the sky if you manage to push them/have them drive off into the water. The Lost City mod was especially strange and liminal, having small buildings you could tightly drive around in (very peculiar setting, with misty emptiness).
My only issue with MM2 is the lack of the "realism bar", there's no weight on the vehicles, the semi and the cooper bounce with the same stuff, unlike MM1, which made fun driving fun or even challenging, also made heavy vehicles icredibly OP.
A good review, I enjoyed this. Although I played a lot of MM2 back in the day, it did always feel like an expansion pack to MM1 and not a wholly new game
Well Angel studios went on to develop Midnight Club 1 + 2 - I never played MC1 but MC2 is one of my all-time favs. There's little in the way of customization but the 3 different cities are all really cool and I find it has plenty of replay value.

I used to mod the shit out of this game. Probably some of the best times of my life.
You'll find it's better than ever before.
Thank you for always adding fixes on description. I can't tell you how much it has helped me.

If the crew went offline and had midtown madness merits, it would be a dream come true
Midtown 2 is now more customizable than 1, it has mods that adds new minigames and changes opponent cars

The game also has a small but active speedrun scene that welcomes new and old players of this game :)

.....blast from the past. I think I tried a demo many, many, many years ago :D
Man I spent so much hours on this game

Now I need more British announcers in games.
Good video, but one thing I would fix is when you talk about something, then show a gameplay reel, the two don't necessarily match up... :
mm2 would be just a dlc for mm1 nowadays xd
It's always funny seeing someone drive on the wrong lane in videogames set in the the UK. 🔀
