This was my thoughts exactly.. even if it was to slow down gameplay they could have accomplished this in many other ways by tweaking vendor stock, task rewards, loot tables, ect.
@@TastyDizaster they said they will have a way to repair stuff in the future, not just guns but armor/gear too (don't know if it's later seasons or could be this season but a later patch)
I think it's a form of stress testing is all, create the most extreme case scenario (in this case no repairing allowed) and see how it affects gameplay such as player choices on which guns to buy; example do you go with cheaper platforms to try and save money. They said long ago when they've mentioned durability that they plan on allowing us to be able to repair guns and even armor/gear in the future. That being said, there are only 2 things for me which is 1, I'm more likely to just not be able to get my original gun/gear back when I die in the first place so I've never had to worry about weapon degradation in the first place. The 2nd thing is just go farm the "Tier 3" or "highest tier" zones (Midnight Sapphire, Fort Narith and Tiger Bay) and, if you know where the loot boxes are in those 3 zones (same as last season) then you can get really good gear. Haven't had to buy too much of anything yet, hardly done any quests and already have 50k; and no I'm not really that good at the game I only play PVE and I honestly die a lot so I lose a lot of gear.
Half of me hates the idea of firearm and component durability, the other half understands where the devs were coming from. Just like armor, a gun and equipment gets in the way of bullets that are headed towards the player using them and are thus subject to be damaged in the firefight. However; the chance of actually having an unusable system after 3 or 4 of these encounters (ie: the player dying to AI/player damage) is remarkably low overall. Devs should implement a 3 stage durability mechanism: 1) armour, 2) firearm barrels/semi-auto uppers/suppressors, 3) attachments/equipment. 1) Armour needs to break more easily based on a scan of hits, once it is compromised (based on the ammo shot at it) the integrity of the armour needs to fall off fast. 2) Barrels, uppers, and suppressors need to have a round based lifespan, such that you are capable of swapping internals to expand the life of the system. Obviously scaling needs to be a thing and a good hard set point would be increasing .1 moa for every 1500-2000 rounds shot in semi-auto, .2 moa for every 1000 rounds shot in full auto, and 1 moa for every 500 rounds shot through bolt action. (No this is not realistic, but its a fair starting point to force players to focus on how many rounds they are sending down range). 3) Attachments like optics, nvg's, lasers, and lights need to have the option to be repaired (based on a cool down system that prevents spamming). Attachments like fore grips, rails, stocks, etc should degrade at 1/4 the speed they currently are.
That's the thing though shooting the gun doesn't really damage it. Unless you go through 10k rounds. And then maybe but if you do die I do see some scuff from falling in dirt or mud. So I get the idea. Just shooting the gun, it may last the whole campaign if you don't die
I agree. Being a firearms owner myself I’ve never broken anything optics or grips on my rifles 😂. I think they rushed it and it needs some major reworking. The only things that should have durability would the Bolt , barrel and buffer spring. Pretty much the only parts that need replacement. Makes no sense why an optic wears with the rest of the gun. Hopefully they change it
Glad more people are saying this. I thought weapon durability, when Madfinger talked about it originally before the update was going to be more like jams and misfires when the gun started to degrade, but not just a sliding scale. I don’t understand why this is in game at this moment because searching the map for cool components is useless if I can’t repair said components. I instead would love a menu option where I could just turn it off/on or give me options for how I wish to play. The rest of the game feels better to me. I love the AI taking cover but there are plenty of situations where I need to pump a few mags in before they die.yes, still early access but I want the night to be darker. Would love phases of the moon so it’s not always full.
To be honest those holo sights do, overtime, break from shooting, specially from how strong the gun kicks, but in general we are talking about some thousands of shots. The same goes to the weapon, parts start to wear, jams happen more often. I mean if you don't put some effort into cleaning and mantaining it. You know, weapons have a certain ammount of rounds they can go before having to have a full on inspection. The M4's barrel should whistand around 6k to 8k rounds before you start thinking about changing that barrel/receiver for your own safety, as it could lead to a catastrophic failure. Damage and wear is unavoidable in real life, and we will never ever get some sensible parts like the barrel back to it's factory standard full life. That said, I like the system, make us spend some money, try new things, but it is super crude indeed hahahah. But I wish parts would wear at different paces and we could use some maintenance kits like oil and cleaning rags to reduce the wear ticks, even changing batteries for the sights could be a thing. And to be honest spending some hours putting the things on the table, dissasembling it and smelling the gunpowder and oil is almost like calming ritual, like drinking a good cup of coffee. lol I would not mind doing that in the game too.
Should have just had us use the cash we find quite literally everywhere now to just pay the vendor to repair it. Hell even if they didn't even add a system where you can save a custom gun loadout and then just buy THAT from the vendor. Would save time instead of having to catalogue and remember every part you were using.
Totally agree. It is ridiculous how fast the equipment degrades. It is a rushed implementation for sure...and after 6 months to get this patch out I expected better. Contemplating putting GZW on the back burner for another 6 months.
Exactly my thougths mate. Also the income / money system need to rework. AK worth 30 dollar so we not hoarding, but at lvl 10 have 6 AKs, 5 m4s and 45k dollar to work with. All the next missions going to give me m4 with spectre and on... I'm rich after 1 hours, only thing what holds me back is gunny and vendor levels...
@@chiyeti me and my friend we play PvE only atm and did not lost what can i say 5-10 set of gear max under 100+ hrs. There is 0 fear for gearloss for us who plays pve as you have this much money.

Stack this with the cost of new gear, and the fact that a lot of us repeatedly CTD after the path (very high end pc), where I log back in to find all of my kit is gone....I'm level 23 and completely broke. This needs a fix asap.
They didn't use the word durability when they were doing the weekly patch meetings on their live sessions. They used the word maintenance which made it seems like we would be able to maintain guns cleans and repair weapons. Just one more of the things they deceived the players about ( ai going to sleep, keys appearing on tables not on soldiers)
lmao they did state that there will be a way to fix and repair both weapons and armor in a later update, The AI do "go to sleep" I have noticed a smaller number of enemies in an area during night raids, Keys do in fact spawn on tables and soldiers and their spawn rate is quite higher then last patch. almost like you didnt even play the game.
I believe it’s an incentive to use more weapons and look for loot to sell which will mean more play time? Maybe that was the thought process for this system?
I mean, it's still early access. This is the first of probably 6 updates before it's considered out. So it's building the foundation brick by brick. If it continues like this though, I can see why this would be a problem
I agree, the game is (still?) a bit unfinished and according to the developers, development is continuing. That is also the reason why I am still optimistic. As one commenter already said, there may be weapon maintenance. So I would currently see this system as a kind of placeholder and hope that development continues for some time, if not even a 1.0 version can be released, because many systems have turned out very well so far.

I'm pretty sure it's some sort of glitch/bug and my guess is that it's a "visual" glitch. The AI have a new 3rd reaction besides random zig zagging or standing there like a target dummy, the third is they will actually run for cover and those AI that do that, they like to constantly transition from one place of cover to another. Sometimes it's buggy and when they do this, they move super fast, if they're doing that, you know they're glitched. Like they will move way faster than normal and even their animations are sped up. Even if they're not moving and they are standing still and start shooting at you, they're still glitched. I don't think they are actually where you see them in game because when I have seen the AI doing that sped up movement, if they ever stop to shoot at me, I'll see their avatar in one location but I'll see the muzzle flash come from another location (where their avatar isn't currently at) that looks like it would be an obvious and decent cover location (they typically use walls or boxes). When you shoot the "visible" avatar, they will flinch as if they take damage but they won't die. I see this often at Midnight Sapphire.
@RiverSloth yea that sounds fairly plausible, the AI that was invincible was running to cover a lot and definitely flinching when getting shot. Didn't notice the muzzle flash coming from a different location though, however I wasn't keeping my head out long enough to tell lol
They should have never implemented the durability system for the weapons until they add the necessary things to repair them. Its honestly a bit goofy tbh
Whoever ok’d adding durability without having a repair system is an idiot. Also I own BNVDs in white phosphor and you can’t see through the scopes in game with nods… but in irl all I have to do is adjust the diopter on the back of the scope and boom it’s crystal clear, so whatever “experts” they paired up with on night vision need to be kicked to curb for telling them you can’t see though a scope.
Like for real, what's the point of adding nvgs if literally the whole map is lit up with street lights and house lights. Where are these people getting electricity from in an abandoned country???
while I see your reasoning behind your video, I dont understand it. the "durability" also changes the way the weapon looks (adding scratching and general use marks), so from my understanding is that you dont want the site or the stock to get scratches and look used, just the barrels? Also the time it takes to wear a weapon down from 100% you have easily made 10X what you need to make a new one. This was to give the items life and force players to have to get new gear throughout their time in game or buy it if they did not get lucky enough.
