- On August 21, 1959, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed an executive order making Hawaii the 50th state.

Not a real quote, and seriously a tired an innacurate opinion. Considering 95% of Hawaii's original population voted against becoming a state, I've never heard of anyone in real life or on paper say that they wanted to be illegally annexed by America. Total indepence or controlled slavery? Hmm what would you pick? And most importantly, in order to turn an independent country into a state, there needs to be a Treaty of Annexation, however one was never passed by America, so Hawaii is still its own independently country that's seperate, yet still illegally occupied by the U.S.

The overwhelming majority (97%) of Hawaiian people did vote yes to statehood at the time. If they were to be part of the US, it only made sense for them to want a voice in congress.

Especialy hawain people continue to advocate for independance in the 60s 70s 80s 90s till they basicaly became a minority in their own islands. Due to all the people of main land usa moving to hawaii through the decades
@@cometeertherocketeer3848 um.... first off the population of Hawai'i nearly doubled between WWI and WII with half being from the mainland and half being from asia. only the slightest knowing the history of the islands. those who knew the story of the islands were those who opposed statehood. during annexation 4/5ths of the population opposed being under the US. under territorialhood our history was hidden

Hawaii is not the 50th State of the United States, but is its own Independent and Sovereign State, Occupied by the United States now for 126 years. Hawai’i gained Independence in 1843 via Anglo-French Proclamation. 8 months later America was the 3rd Country to recognize Hawai’i Independence. Once Independent there needs to be a Treaty to Cede the people, government, territory, power and external sovereignty to another State (Country). 1898 America Occupied Hawai’i to fight the Spanish in the Philippines, won the war but failed to deoccupy Hawaiʻi. U.S. Congress creates a Ballot to Annex Hawai’i called a Joint Resolution... U.S. Congressional law has no force and effect beyond the boarders of the United States. A joint resolution is American Law, not a Treaty which is International Law. 1900 due to the Occupation, America starts to floods its citizens to Hawai’i. By 1959 Congress creates an Act in foreign territory called Statehood and had the people of Hawai’i vote to be the 50th State of America. People did vote but a lot was already American Citizens due to the influx of Americans since the 1900s. Hawai’i is under an illegal and prolonged belligerent occupation.

Al Carbo I suggest you open a history book. The British and Hawaiian Kingdoms were great allies. Hawai‘i was also close allies with Japan, but after America illegally annexed our land and built their military bases, Japan was forced to relinquish their relations with The Hawaiian Kingdom and progress the war in the pacific. Long story short, had Americans not illegally destroyed our democracy and growing nation, we would not have been pulled into war and now one of the most crime-ridden and frowned-upon nations in the world.
