"Did you just yell 'pigs' at the lock until it opened?" My favorite quote of the show. The utter confusion in PB's voice. Of all the weird shit she's seen, out of every thing in Ooo, this was the most confusion I've ever heard in Bubblegum's voice.
Kind of made me think of Good Omens - I can’t remember if it’s in the official book or if the trope was born of fanfic, but there’s a whole thing where locks are too afraid of the demon Crowley to dare remain locked
It's kind of funny that Marceline classified the Moon's power as "healing" when she clearly has a bunch of other, stranger abilities that Marceline did not inherit when consuming her. I wonder if the Moon is also a magic-user in addition to her vampire-soul power, possibly along with the madness that is generally associated with magic-users. It may also be possible that the Moon's magic is from the earlier days following the Mushroom War, which could be why her magic is both more subtle and more unhinged than the type usually seen in Wizard City. Some of the things she does even parallels the Lich, like causing Finn's body to seize up at will.
I always thought the reason why she can’t use the moons other powers, because she’s not that kind of person to be striking and manipulating their fear it’ll just make her just like the moon
@isaiahcomfort2931Too Marcelline that’s equivalent to putting a little too much sugar in the tea BUT ON PURPOSE. But again back in the vampire hunting days she would have easily taken the body controlling power. It’s so Marcelline like
Honestly I think that it plays into the character that she is purposefully mysterious. The Moon Tarot card can represent deceit and illusions after all.
Biggest unanswered question is how she unlocked a safe by yellinh "pigs" at it. She is also the only person who can affect people with words in such a way other than the Lich.
To be fair; if she can see all through the "light of the moon," then nothing can escape from her. Even if you hide in shadows, she can still find you with her enhanced senses. So in a way...she's pretty DARN scary.
Astrologically the moon represents nature, our inner thoughts, feelings and instincts. The duality comes in with fantasy, dreams, illusions but also insanity, deceit and hysteria which was very on point for the character.

TLDR: The moon is a immortal tired of immortality, wanted to have fun like a small child before she bite the dust from Marceline, playing a game before she finally left Oooo.
One of Moon's abilities seems to be based on the main villain from the Willow movie. The villain turned an army into pigs, by just saying "Pigs" in a evil tone, if I recall correctly. But Adventure Time made a joke out of it by making the word "pig" a multi-use magic word for The Moon.

So i know there's a lot of talk and questions about the third ear on her forehead. I tried to look this up and there is something i did find about "listening with your third ear." This is tied with the opening of a third eye to see the spiritual world. According to this one article about opening your third ear and its meaning "what is unconscious is hidden by language and revealed in silence. In other words, a true emotional drive is often under what is not said, rather than what is said. And the tone of speaking tells us about the speaker emotionally more so than the words themselves" ... I feel this makes a lot of sense as the Moon is mostly silent until she reveals her voice which is deep and has a tone of danger. Just a thought and wondering if this connects
"...her enigmatic utterances..." Me: "'Die like pigs?' I wouldn't exactly call that enigmatic, it seems pretty straightfo- oh, wait, he's probably referring to the stuff about the moon."
