Finn doesn’t really need a “true love” in the romantic sense because the story makes it very clear that the only person Finn loves truly unconditionally is Jake, to the point where he would bend the laws of reality and death just to make sure they spend eternity together
As touching as that sounds, it is also pretty dark considering that episode implies Jake died a long time ago and Finn never got over it. I am sure Jake would never want Finn to be fixated on him and live a long fulfilling life on his own terms.

But Finn himself acknowledges that he didn't get over Jake's passing.
I think Finn's true love will always be adventuring and heroism. He'd probably have a girlfriend, maybe even a serious relationship, but I don't think he'd ever truly settle down. He'd always want to be a hero and find adventure, and I'm sure the closest thing he'd have to that in his waking life would be passing down his love for adventure to another (example: Bronwyn) and he even ends up dying of old age whilst adventuring.
The question is more about romantic love. So saying that it is heroism is just avoiding the answer. One can value other things and still be in love. I love my partner above all else. But I will still help someone that has fallen down if I happen upon it. It isn't like we can only experience one emotion to be in love. I think that one must be allowed to be themselves to be in a healthy relationship with a person. Now I think that it is impossible to tell if, or who, Finn would be mutually with for the rest of his life. But if there was someone from the cast then it is most likely, in my opinion, to be Huntress Wizard. Simply because they were together and seemed pretty good, by the end of the show. I don't think that Finn would be a stay-at-home dad and ignore the crisis of others. But that doesn't prevent him from having a stable relationship. It just has to be accepted by both parties that the both of them has their own personality, values, wishes, dreams, and needs.
The Greeks had multiple definitions of the word/feeling we define as love. 1. Philia- love of the team 2. Ludus - love of the game and fun 3. Mania - obsession 4. Prahma - love that endures 5. Storge - familial love 6. Philautia - self love 7. Eros - sexual love 8. Agape - love of humanity. I think in his journey, Finn has experienced the majority of these and has both been hurt and has grown from such experiences.
that's why I love Puhoy so much, Finn proved us at the end (of his life there) that he can be a loving husband and a caring father. Perhaps that is why in his subconscious he did not look for a long-term relationship again, because he already lived through all that in this life, under the premise that the pillow world was real (at least I think it was real).
GOLB's presence was proof that it was real. Sadly, that also means his family were all consumed and never to return in any way, even in memory. He was about to tell BMO and Jake about his "dream" but forgets it immediately after, hinting that GOLB has already consumed that universe/dimension/reality.

To agree with other commenters, I'm pretty sure that while Finn can and does find meaningful experiences of romantic love within his life, but he always seeks to be a heroic adventurer first, and as such never truly comes to a rest. In Together Again, we see that he more than likely died adventuring, and that the one person who he always wanted to be with was Jake, the person who shared his sense of adventure and was there for him until his end. We often understand "love" in the context of the romantic being the kind that is personally fulfilling, but brotherly love and fraternity seem to be what genuinely made Finn happy. At least that's what I get from him saying he was never really happy without him, and being more concerned with Jake than anything else once he'd passed into the afterlife.

I’m 19, turning 20 in a few days, spent my life on and off with flings and I’ve matured a lot though a hard life but it’s helped shape me into a person I’m proud of. This video has helped me see the bigger picture in life, sometimes I get so caught up searching for one person and cling on hoping things don’t get away from me and each time I’m met with disappointment and heartbreak when I don’t get that perfect ending fairytales and stories preach. I know those stories are cliche though I dreamed of something like that, it became an obsession to find someone to fill that gap in my heart that I always felt I was missing and with each fling I learned more about myself and how I interact with people. Life is a series of experiences where we constantly grow and learn and maybe I just need to stop holding onto that picture perfect fantasy and just live a little as to not harbor so much pain. It is HW, that is the only mature relationship finn had (without counting the pillow one because that shit was a lifetime relationship) both care for each other but are mature enough to know both are still their own individual (something finn had to learn the bad way with flame princess) and i like how their relationship portrayal is like that one of those couples that were friends way before starting dating.
The breezy episode isn't that.. I "Royal jellied for you". This is eluding to letting somebody impregnate them and then walking away from it. A lot of the themes are metaphors for life more than kids can understand at the time. The entire spisode is about the lifestyle of casual sex and how much of a let down it can be and not just a let down.. It can be phytologically harmful as lumpy showed.
I'd say, romantically, it's either huntress wizard, or the idealised bubblegum in his head. The bubblegum is what he wished she was, and as such, is his perfect example. However, in terms of real life, it's Huntress wizard. They both clearly love each other, but it seems huntress wizard isn't one who wants to be held to 1 spot. She goes with the flow of life. If Finn could do the same, I'm sure she'd have asked him to join her "on the eternal hunt for purpose" or smth deep and thought provoking like that

Personally I love Finn and HW's dynamic most. To me it felt like a representation of an open romance. They like each other but aren't openly dating. IE Huntress Wizard isn't his "girlfriend" but more like an occasional smooching partner. This would likely mean Finn would no longer be jealous of her seeing another guy or her seeing him with another girl. In my opinion this feels like a natural progression of how a heroic adventurer would deal with relationships. He doesn't fully settle down but every relationship he has is another part of the grand adventure that is his life.
Let me rephrase. I don't think they're dating, since both have agreed that a steady relationship isn't for them (at least for now). Finn and Huntress love each other but aren't forcing themselves to maintain being a full blown couple, leaving them free to pursue other people if they want to. I'd assume that if Finn met another person he did want a dedicated relationship he and Huntress would simply have a talk that ends their casual kissing thing. All in all it shows Finn's emotional maturity with being able to properly communicate. The show leaves it up to interpretation so this is just my headcanon.

Finn and Fire Princess were willing to sacrifice for each other and genuinely enjoyed each other's company. I felt like the relationship was genuine and the breakup was contrived. I honestly see that a lot in both American and Japanese stories. The author writes a couple with the intention of breaking them up but the chemistry between the characters ends up being so strong that the author has to force something out of character to cause the break up. The only time I have ever seen an author abandon an intended break-up is the manga Ichigo 100%. It was very obvious that the author had intended the main character to not end up with his first girlfriend and end up with a very specific girl that on paper was seemingly destined to end up with the main character. However, as the author wrote the story she realized that the main character had the best chemistry with his first girlfriend and that the first girlfriend incited the most meaningful changes in the main character. Ultimately she wrote the main character getting back together with his first girlfriend instead of pursuing a relationship with the destined girl.
I think the traditional idea of a True Love, isn't some perfect person or relationship which will be fit perfectly and easily. It's about a relationship which is built upon true love- not childish or lustful 'love'- but one which truly desire the good of the other through the relationship. One which knows that forming a family together may bring about more of that pure and true love in the world.

This video is more about arguing against an answer, than answering the question of who, hypothetically, would be Finn's "true love". Assuming that there is such a thing as "true love" and "the one" I'd claim that it is pretty safe to say, from what we have available, that it is most likely Huntress Wizard. Because she is the only romantic relationship that Finn had that we didn't see an end to. Now I don't believe in "true love" or "the one" personally. In all my relationships I have felt love for my partner. And in every one of them I have wished that we, me and my partner, would be togetger forever. Now, my current relationship is by far my longest one. And she is the one I would do the most for so far. She is also the one I have been the happiest with. And I do wish that it goes on until I die. But if she died and I lived, and I decided that life still was worth living, then I might still find someone new after many years. It wouldn't change that my love for her now is real. She is my sweetheart and I love her above all else. And past me loved other people above all else too. Sometimes we have to accept that, no matter how strongly we feel, our emotions can't control the future. We can only influence how our lives turn out. And that is the beauty of it. It is sad to view from a personal angle but I appreciate that the heartbreak in the story reflects reality. That love is more than transactional favours, subverting the whole “knight earns the princess’ love through chivalrous actions” idea that pervades views of romantic love, and instead more about commitment to grow together or to learn together, and maybe things don’t work for reasons beyond our control and that’s ok. I think it’s really important that Finn might have had failed romances with them, but he got a rock-solid friendship of trust and made from genuine bonds of shared experiences and knowing each other well. The way the show frames it, there is nothing to actually feel bad about, because in the end, Finn is happy with the way those experiences paved the way for a lifelong, meaningful relationship with each of his love interests. It took heartbreak to reach that point, but that just makes the heartbreak a crucial part of the journey to discovering true love and care.

I was super little when I watched all these episodes for the first time. So I did not notice all this nuance, good Lord. I remember feeling super bad for Finn, because I thought all his relationships ended in a giant explosion. Ok Some of them did, but I didn't notice all the lessons he learned from them awesome video.

It makes sense why Finn would have no “true love” throughout the show. He’s still a child, after all. All his love interests in the show don’t serve as love interests, but moreso as lessons, growing points, and the people you grow up with can’t be the people you grow old with. I do think that Finn would’ve found someone before he died. If not canon, I’d still think so. Probably a human that came over from Founder’s Island. I’d imagine that she had always wanted to leave and had a strong sense of morality, like Finn.

Between Finn and Mordecai, Cartoon Network was really putting out the best "live and learn" lessons out there to date Yeah, they both messed up a lot (partly because they have to for cartoon), but they usually learned from it and moved on. But Mordecai's more... troublesome dating life was counterbalanced by Rigby's true-love with Irene.
Genuinely, I don't think I wanted Finn to get back into dating after FP. Was too messy and just caused problems. Finn just being himself and working on his own thing was what I wanted for him after all that. Not a fan of HW x Finn because of those feelings. The pillow episode and junk made it evident that Finn can adapt and just flow with how things turn out and not get hung up on stuff that's long past him. So he does have the capability to stick to a long lasting relationship and settle down. But, ultimately I don't think it's anything worth the trouble for him. He's happiest when he's just being a bro with Jake and their other buds.

Finn doesn’t really need a “true love” in the romantic sense because the story makes it very clear that the only person Finn loves truly unconditionally is Jake, to the point where he would bend the laws of reality and death just to make sure they spend eternity together
As touching as that sounds, it is also pretty dark considering that episode implies Jake died a long time ago and Finn never got over it. I am sure Jake would never want Finn to be fixated on him and live a long fulfilling life on his own terms.

I think Finn's true love will always be adventuring and heroism. He'd probably have a girlfriend, maybe even a serious relationship, but I don't think he'd ever truly settle down. He'd always want to be a hero and find adventure, and I'm sure the closest thing he'd have to that in his waking life would be passing down his love for adventure to another (example: Bronwyn) and he even ends up dying of old age whilst adventuring.
The question is more about romantic love. So saying that it is heroism is just avoiding the answer.
One can value other things and still be in love. I love my partner above all else. But I will still help someone that has fallen down if I happen upon it. It isn't like we can only experience one emotion to be in love. I think that one must be allowed to be themselves to be in a healthy relationship with a person.
Now I think that it is impossible to tell if, or who, Finn would be mutually with for the rest of his life. But if there was someone from the cast then it is most likely, in my opinion, to be Huntress Wizard. Simply because they were together and seemed pretty good, by the end of the show.
I don't think that Finn would be a stay-at-home dad and ignore the crisis of others. But that doesn't prevent him from having a stable relationship. It just has to be accepted by both parties that the both of them has their own personality, values, wishes, dreams, and needs.

To agree with other commenters, I'm pretty sure that while Finn can and does find meaningful experiences of romantic love within his life, but he always seeks to be a heroic adventurer first, and as such never truly comes to a rest. In Together Again, we see that he more than likely died adventuring, and that the one person who he always wanted to be with was Jake, the person who shared his sense of adventure and was there for him until his end. We often understand "love" in the context of the romantic being the kind that is personally fulfilling, but brotherly love and fraternity seem to be what genuinely made Finn happy. At least that's what I get from him saying he was never really happy without him, and being more concerned with Jake than anything else once he'd passed into the afterlife.

I’m 19, turning 20 in a few days, spent my life on and off with flings and I’ve matured a lot though a hard life but it’s helped shape me into a person I’m proud of. This video has helped me see the bigger picture in life, sometimes I get so caught up searching for one person and cling on hoping things don’t get away from me and each time I’m met with disappointment and heartbreak when I don’t get that perfect ending fairytales and stories preach. I know those stories are cliche though I dreamed of something like that, it became an obsession to find someone to fill that gap in my heart that I always felt I was missing and with each fling I learned more about myself and how I interact with people. The breezy episode isn't that.. I "Royal jellied for you". This is eluding to letting somebody impregnate them and then walking away from it. A lot of the themes are metaphors for life more than kids can understand at the time. The entire spisode is about the lifestyle of casual sex and how much of a let down it can be and not just a let down.. It can be phytologically harmful as lumpy showed.
I'd say, romantically, it's either huntress wizard, or the idealised bubblegum in his head. The bubblegum is what he wished she was, and as such, is his perfect example. However, in terms of real life, it's Huntress wizard. They both clearly love each other, but it seems huntress wizard isn't one who wants to be held to 1 spot. She goes with the flow of life. If Finn could do the same, I'm sure she'd have asked him to join her "on the eternal hunt for purpose" or smth deep and thought provoking like that

Personally I love Finn and HW's dynamic most. To me it felt like a representation of an open romance. They like each other but aren't openly dating. IE Huntress Wizard isn't his "girlfriend" but more like an occasional smooching partner. This would likely mean Finn would no longer be jealous of her seeing another guy or her seeing him with another girl. In my opinion this feels like a natural progression of how a heroic adventurer would deal with relationships. He doesn't fully settle down but every relationship he has is another part of the grand adventure that is his life.

Let me rephrase. I don't think they're dating, since both have agreed that a steady relationship isn't for them (at least for now). Finn and Huntress love each other but aren't forcing themselves to maintain being a full blown couple, leaving them free to pursue other people if they want to. I'd assume that if Finn met another person he did want a dedicated relationship he and Huntress would simply have a talk that ends their casual kissing thing. All in all it shows Finn's emotional maturity with being able to properly communicate. The show leaves it up to interpretation so this is just my headcanon.

Finn and Fire Princess were willing to sacrifice for each other and genuinely enjoyed each other's company. I felt like the relationship was genuine and the breakup was contrived.
I honestly see that a lot in both American and Japanese stories. The author writes a couple with the intention of breaking them up but the chemistry between the characters ends up being so strong that the author has to force something out of character to cause the break up.
The only time I have ever seen an author abandon an intended break-up is the manga Ichigo 100%. It was very obvious that the author had intended the main character to not end up with his first girlfriend and end up with a very specific girl that on paper was seemingly destined to end up with the main character. However, as the author wrote the story she realized that the main character had the best chemistry with his first girlfriend and that the first girlfriend incited the most meaningful changes in the main character. Ultimately she wrote the main character getting back together with his first girlfriend instead of pursuing a relationship with the destined girl.
I think the traditional idea of a True Love, isn't some perfect person or relationship which will be fit perfectly and easily. It's about a relationship which is built upon true love- not childish or lustful 'love'- but one which truly desire the good of the other through the relationship. One which knows that forming a family together may bring about more of that pure and true love in the world.

Assuming that there is such a thing as "true love" and "the one" I'd claim that it is pretty safe to say, from what we have available, that it is most likely Huntress Wizard. Because she is the only romantic relationship that Finn had that we didn't see an end to.
Now I don't believe in "true love" or "the one" personally. In all my relationships I have felt love for my partner. And in every one of them I have wished that we, me and my partner, would be togetger forever. Now, my current relationship is by far my longest one. And she is the one I would do the most for so far. She is also the one I have been the happiest with. And I do wish that it goes on until I die. But if she died and I lived, and I decided that life still was worth living, then I might still find someone new after many years. It wouldn't change that my love for her now is real. She is my sweetheart and I love her above all else. And past me loved other people above all else too.
Sometimes we have to accept that, no matter how strongly we feel, our emotions can't control the future. We can only influence how our lives turn out. And that is the beauty of it. A chance meeting between to beings that just happened to be. That struggle to have a nice and meaningful life. A strong feeling of love, that we wish will last until the end of our days.

It is sad to view from a personal angle but I appreciate that the heartbreak in the story reflects reality. That love is more than transactional favours, subverting the whole “knight earns the princess’ love through chivalrous actions” idea that pervades views of romantic love, and instead more about commitment to grow together or to learn together, and maybe things don’t work for reasons beyond our control and that’s ok. I think it’s really important that Finn might have had failed romances with them, but he got a rock-solid friendship of trust and made from genuine bonds of shared experiences and knowing each other well.
The way the show frames it, there is nothing to actually feel bad about, because in the end, Finn is happy with the way those experiences paved the way for a lifelong, meaningful relationship with each of his love interests. It took heartbreak to reach that point, but that just makes the heartbreak a crucial part of the journey to discovering true love and care.

I remember feeling super bad for Finn, because I thought all his relationships ended in a giant explosion. Ok Some of them did, but I didn't notice all the lessons he learned from them awesome video.

It makes sense why Finn would have no “true love” throughout the show. He’s still a child, after all. All his love interests in the show don’t serve as love interests, but moreso as lessons, growing points, and the people you grow up with can’t be the people you grow old with.
I do think that Finn would’ve found someone before he died. If not canon, I’d still think so. Probably a human that came over from Founder’s Island. I’d imagine that she had always wanted to leave and had a strong sense of morality, like Finn.
nahh, he blew it his true love with flame princess, he maybe was an immature child at that time, but even we maybe young at that time we all have that decisions we choose, to take that path regardless on our age or we grew up on or who we may hang around with, finn just chose being a man baby by manipulating flame princess and the ice king to make them fight each other, all for the sake of the cosmic owl dream, I can't blame flame princess dump her, she and finn have a spark and more potential to Everlast, and could fight the odds and obstacles and challenges to grew this relationship ,if finn chose to ignore what the dream would represent and be mindful of our life choices

Between Finn and Mordecai, Cartoon Network was really putting out the best "live and learn" lessons out there to date
Yeah, they both messed up a lot (partly because they have to for cartoon), but they usually learned from it and moved on. But Mordecai's more... troublesome dating life was counterbalanced by Rigby's true-love with Irene.

Genuinely, I don't think I wanted Finn to get back into dating after FP. Was too messy and just caused problems. Finn just being himself and working on his own thing was what I wanted for him after all that. Not a fan of HW x Finn because of those feelings. The pillow episode and junk made it evident that Finn can adapt and just flow with how things turn out and not get hung up on stuff that's long past him. So he does have the capability to stick to a long lasting relationship and settle down. But, ultimately I don't think it's anything worth the trouble for him. He's happiest when he's just being a bro with Jake and their other buds.
