Nice to hear the rhythms still have some sizzle left in them so they sound quite natural but still not too fizzy. Great work and thanks for the rundown
Agreed. Everyone is afraid of high end these days. Nothing but dark, murky guitars and mixes with no edge. Everyone is afraid and mixing so safe these days. Sounds great
Hey there! Huge fan of KSE here myself and therefore been obsessing about their guitar tone too. Really enjoying your content. In my opinion the guitar sound on Atonement is the best of all time as far as modern metal is concerned. You can clearly hear every detail and every note they're playing. I'd love to know the exact gear they or Andy Sneap used. My best guess is Guitars as usual - 808 - EVH 5150III Stealth - Mesa Cab with V30s Or do you think they used the 5150/Mesa combo once again? Cheers from overseas
My source who knows Joel personally and owns most of his old gear says that atonement was originally a framus dragon but Adam or Sneap may have re amped it with something else so honestly I don’t know. Once they switched to fishmans my nose got thrown off from the scent and idk what’s happening now. To me that record doesn’t sound like a dragon and kinda sounds like the Tony Iommi laney tbh, but that could just be those fishmans playing tricks on me. As for the cab, I don’t know but I get the feeling that they don’t use the same mesa cab anymore because all the tones just sound very, very different to me after the 2009 self titled. I’m not sure if you understand the reamping process but if sneap reamped the guitars it’s definitely not any of Adam’s cabs being heard. Best bet is to message andy sneap and ask if he reamped
