One of the funniest moments in the Bible has something profound to teach us. At 2 Kings 3:15, Elisha angrily says, “I wouldn’t say anything to you if I didn’t respect Jehoshaphat. Now bring me a harp!” (Of course, we all ask for a harp when we want to really make a point!). But what happens when the harp is played and worship begins, is that “God’s hand (or “His power”) descends on Elisha, and as TLC points out, God is at work in the unseen. There are ways that He built the world so that with His power, and perhaps when we worship, that matter multiplies, and science has no explanation (2 Kings 4:3, 43). In fact, Jesus had no doubts that He could raise the dead because He saw Elisha do it (2 Kings 4:35), and He knew that He could multiply loaves and fish for the 20,000 (5,000 men) because He saw Elisha feed 100 with only 20 barley loaves (2 Kings 4:43). When we worship and know that God is at work in unseen ways, we can trust Him to provide in ways we never could imagine!
I agree that's one of the funniest moments in the Bible! 😂
Elisha didn't do those things. God in His Holy Spirit power performed those miracles through Elisha. Remember when the prophet (Elijah or Elisha?) said, "This woman (the woman whose son had died) has a problem, but God hasn't revealed to me yet what it is"?
"God does some of his best work in the dark". I needed this today. Thank you Father God for working in ways I can't see to bring about your plan.

Praise Him that He works-- even in the dark.

Day 183
In the northern Kingdom of Israel, the king falls through the roof and is injured. He seeks answers from Baal- lord of the flies
Elijah rebukes the kings servants and tells them the king will die because he sought answers elsewhere.
He did not seek the true and living God.
The king send two sets of 50 men to Elijah to dispute this judgement.
Elijah calls down fire from heaven and it consumes them.
He sends a third set of 50 men and the commander begs for his life.
Elijah spares the commanders life.
But King Ahaziah dies, just as Elijah had prophesied.
We see the transition go from Elisha to Elijah.
Elijah asked for a double portion of the spirit that is on Elisah. That is something only God can give and He does give it to Elisha
It is amazing how God uses a chariot, a fire and a whirlwind to take Elijah from this world.
We see people saved from sure starvation and a dead boy brought back to life through God’s power on Elisha.
King Jehoshaphat sought help from Elisha because there was no more water.
God tells them:
“For this is what the Lord says: You will see neither wind nor rain, yet this valley will be filled with water, and you, your cattle and your other animals will drink. This is an easy thing in the eyes of the Lord; he will also deliver Moab into your hands.”
2 Kings 3:17-18
God does the heavy lifting
They do nothing.
So many times in our lives we try and figure out a solution and there is none- that is apart from God
Our minds can have a hard time processing this. But there is much to be gained from fully trusting in the Lord. He has answers and solutions we know nothing about.
We can trust Him even when there appears to be no answers.

II Kings 3:17 NKJV
[17] For thus says the Lord: ‘You shall not see wind, nor shall you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, so that you, your cattle, and your animals may drink.’
How timely this is! “God was going to provide in an a way that was invisible to track”..“God does some of his best work in the dark!!!” 🙌 Last week I had a hard week, emotionally draining! Friday I shared a testimony about how God had been working for me during this week, based on some good news that was shared with me. He is taking care of us me whether I see it or not!

I love what you said about God doing His best work in the dark.
Profound: Just because it's dark does not mean he doesn't have victory in store when the lights come one. Abba Father please let us your children to trust you in the dark hours of our lives.
What seems impossible to us, is easy to the Lord (2 Kgs 3:18). God provides in abundance when we give Him what little we have just like with the widow's oil (2 Kgs 4:2-5) and the feeding of a hundred (2 Kgs 4: 42-44). He is asking us just to give Him something to work with.

I see Jesus! Reading the accounts of Elisha makes me recognize Him. I see how they both fed many with a little bit of food that was multiplied and how they both raised the dead. However, listening to this explanation of Elisha and the mocking youth shows me a reflection of the religious leaders of Jesus' day, mocking Jesus and falsely accusing Him of blasphemy sorcery and lies. How sad that so many in Israel continue to miss that truth. I pray not to be in that number. I pray for God to continue revealing Himself and that our eyes and hearts will be opened to see Him for who He truly is Amen

Y'all should read the article above. It makes a good case for Elijah's "disappearance".
I read it, and I think he missed a few things.
I broke my heart reading that the Moabite king sacrificed his son to an idol. Jesus came and died for them, though. Thanks be to God.

Regarding the Patheos article: The letter could have come at any time after Jehoram had slain his brothers and up to the prophesies of the great plague among the people and the great sickness that would come upon Jehoram. The simplest explanation is usually best. Enoch and Elijah did not die, but they will die after they have fulfilled their responsibilities as the two witnesses of Revelation.
I've always heard that the real name of the deity was Baal-Zebul, meaning "Baal the prince" but that the name was turned into a pejorative by an intentional, sleight spelling change - Baal-Zebub, meaning "lord of the flies."
I didn't like that Patheos article. How can the author confidently assert that Jehoram King of Judah received a letter from Elijah 10 years after Elijah's supposed translation to heaven when he admits the dates are only approximate? Besides, I disagree with the author that Elijah and Enoch died. Scripture specifically says Enoch didn't die.
I don't think Elijah died. And I think he will reappear along with either Enoch or Moses (probably Enoch because I imagine them both in some kind of a time warp!) as one of the two witnesses in Revelation 11.
I agree that the two witnesses will be Enoch and Elijah because Moses died. Clearly, the Bible tells us that it's appointed to man ONCE to die, so Moses would have to die twice if he were to be one of the two witnesses. Not possible.

UFOs anyone? 🛸 My understanding is that the Hebrew word for chariot just means vehicle. The translators chose to go with chariot because it was the state of the art of transportation at the time. Likewise, I speculate that although the word horses was chosen to pair with chariots, it could have been translated as something having to do with rapid flight.
I suspect one of the great deceptions of the end times will be fallen angel/demonic "aliens" 👽 who will show up in physics-defying vehicles and claim to be our creators and saviors, and many people will believe them, welcoming our "space brothers" with open arms. One awesome thought, however, is that the bad guys aren't the only entities who drive really cool vehicles. Loyal angels have technology too - "Chariots of fire and horsemen of fire... The chariots of Israel and its horsemen!" 🔥😎👍
With all due respect to Tara-Leigh, but she's wrong about Elijah. If you read 2 Kings 2, it says not once, but TWICE, that Elijah went to heaven in a whirlwind, NOT a chariot of fire. The chariot of fire passed between him and Elisha to separate them, and then the whirlwind came and took Elijah. It's possible that Elijah stepped into the chariot of fire first, but the text doesn't specifically say it. However, I always understood Elijah to have been taken up in the whirlwind by himself, though, perhaps with the chariot following (or disappearing on its own), kind of like Dorothy being whisked away by the tornado in The Wizard of Oz. I think the confusion comes in because our modern pop culture often depicts people being carried to heaven in chariots (such as the spiritual "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot"), even though there's no biblical basis for it, and also because most artwork of the scene shows Elijah in the chariot (though it's not always made of fire in those--another error.)
I'm sorry if I ruined anybody's favorite childhood Bible story, but we have to be true to the text of Scripture and not read our preconceived notions into it. (Thank you, Beginner's Bible, for setting that story straight when I was little!)
You are right, it doesn't specifically say he got into the chariot but the fact that it was horses pulling a chariot makes me believe the only purpose was transportation of Elijah, not just show. What an awesome way to leave this Earth! 🔥 🐎 👑

@@juliequates9529 Also worth mentioning is that if Elijah only went up in the whirlwind without getting the chariot, it would still be no less of a miracle because whirlwinds don't generally carry people to heaven, nor do chariots and horses of fire appear under normal circumstances. It is every bit as much a display of God's power for a chariot of fire to merely pass between Elijah and Elisha as for Elijah to get in said chariot when the whirlwind took him away.
It says "in a chariot of fire he was taken up in a whirlwind" .. she probably was saying part of it cuz it mentions a chariot.
No biggie, but it's good to read along. Incase something is misquoted.
@@heidevoglis9178 Actually, the text doesn't say "in a chariot of fire" anywhere. Here is how it reads in the ESV (the translation Tara Leigh favors):
"And as they still went on and talked, behold, chariots of fire and horses of fire separated the two of them. And Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven." (2 Kings 2: 11)
Nothing about Elijah getting into the chariot before the whirlwind carried him away. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean he didn't, but to assume he did is to extend the text beyond what it actually says. (And speaking of Elijah, another example of this is the numerous paintings of the transfiguration that show Jesus' feet coming off the ground, when none of the Gospel accounts ever actually say that happened.) Nor does the Bible say that the Earth is flat or only six thousand years old, or that Mary was sinless when Jesus was conceived. If you read the Bible closely, it's really amazing how many things people think it says that it doesn't. (FTR, I grew up in a cult that claimed to have a modern-day prophet, and seeing how much said prophet added to Bible stories and how much the members would think it was in the Bible was the first warning sign that started me on the path to leaving.)
I can understand why Tara Leigh would make that mistake, because it's a VERY common misconception, so much that I probably see more people that should know better getting it wrong than right.
