I was seriously tempted. Finally, I decided to always pray while being tempted (exercise my faith), and the temptation just dwindled and get weaker. God does save us from our sins! What a wonderful news, and that is gospel.

“….Thus at its very source human nature was corrupted. And ever since then sin has continued its hateful work, reaching from mind to mind….” RH, April 16, 1901 par. 5
“….we must remember that our hearts are naturally depraved, and we are unable of ourselves to pursue a right course…..” Counsel to Parent, Teacher and Students 544.1-2
“Parents have a more serious charge than they imagine. The inheritance of children is that of sin. Sin has separated them from God. Jesus gave His life that He might unite the broken links to God. As related to the first Adam, men receive from him nothing but guilt and the sentence of death….”Child Guidance 475.3

When the SDA Church gets into the 1844 Investigative Judgement, Jesus' human nature and quotes from the SOP/EGW as a continuing divinely inspired authority, Baptists, Presbyterians, Methodists etc etc suddenly realise the SDA Church has a different understanding of the gospel ( Apparently different from the Apostle Paul, certainly Evangelical Protestant denominations would find it differently that Paul), a plan of salvation that places the believer in a judgement where the believer is judged by works and obedience to the law, whether the believer keeps the Sabbath, for sealing, the atonement and the blotting out of sin is determined in this endtime judgement. And that the SDA Church is NOT Grace alone, Faith alone, Scripture alone denomination. The SDA Church teaches a works salvation and their divinely inspired books are not just the Bible but the Bible PLUS Ellen White. SDA's are quick to reject they have an extra Biblical authority but when there is a dispute about a Bible teaching, they turn to EGW and there it is settled.

The scriptures also teach a judgment by works (read what Jesus said about how he distinguishes between the sheep and the goats at His second coming) and by obedience to the law ("depart from me, you who work lawlessness"), as well as teaching salvation by faith alone, by Grace alone, etc. The challenge is to find a way to reconcile these seemingly contradictory teachings. Ignoring half the story will result in mistaken interpretations.

@@rodneyplewright7685 You have that right. That is why the Investigative judgement starting in 1844, a judgement of BELIEVERS FOR FINAL salvation, the blotting out of sin and one's sealing based on Sabbath keeping is such AWFUL ERROR. It's disappointing Mrs White embraced such legalism and departure from Paul's gospel in Galatians which is THE gospel. Not EGW, or Joe Crews or an angel that would appear can change Paul's gospel of salvation by grace alone apart from works, law keeping etc. It's telling that books such as Questions on Doctrine and the ministries of men such as Desmond Ford and Raymond Cotrell challenged this false doctrine from within the SDA church.

@@boblackey1 So, you should have begun your response with "You have got that wrong." Paul knew that some could misunderstand what he had written. For instance, quite a few times in Romans, he says things such as "Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law." (3:31) "What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid." (6:15) So, those who insist that Paul is the sole authority on the gospel must take into account all that Paul wrote on the topic. Paul also wrote, "for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ." (Romans 14:10)

@@rodneyplewright7685 Paul knows nothing about the 1844/Investigative Judgement doctrine which is clear cut legalism. Questions on Doctrine is one of the few books released by the church way back when I was young that presents the IJ doctrine so it can pass the evangelical Christian smell test. Dr. LeRoy Froom knew Walter Martin and Donald Barnhouse would brand it as a false gospel the way M. L. Andreason taught it. That is why Dr. Froom made sure M. L. never got around Martin and Barnhouse. Any gospel other than Paul's in Galatians is FALSE!! Even if an angel would appear before you and present another gospel REJECT it. Apparently Ellen White didn't understand the gospel. Dr. Ford says she didn't. Dr. Raymond Cotrell before his death informed us the 1844/IJ doctrine is NOT in the Bible. Paul NEVER teaches our final salvation is determined by a judgement based on works and law keeping and Paul says NOTHING about the keeping of the Sabbath is how we are sealed. Paul says nothing about believers having to stand before God without a mediator. Born again believers are saved by grace ALONE by faith in Christ. Paul says we stand before the judgement seat for rewards NOT salvation. Obedience after salvation show one has really been born again and even then that obedience is not absolutely perfect. To the day you die you will still need the imputed righteousness of Christ given by grace through faith alone. Why? Because your evidence to the law falls short of absolute perfection. The 1844/IJ doctrine is poison and is the number one reason people leave the SDA church.

Through faith comes works. As far as I can tell the SDA believes in a Spiritual Transformation through acceptance of Jesus Christ.
I never heard of SDA having a Catholic ideology on being saved by Grace+Works.
