Found this song in Dec of 2023 and every time I listen to it I wanna cry because of how much I need to hear it. It's so hard to feel like you don't deserve love or that you're just a fucking embarrassment, so this song has become my anthem for when I'm feeling like I just can't stop fucking up.
10 months clean off the meth and benzos and on day 4 of no pot so I can get a decent job here in New Zealand (as they all urine test) and your guys music helps get me through so thank you so much for what you do Jesse and the crew! Much love fam ❤

I guess the ADHD I’ve recently been diagnosed with played a part in that…maybe. I’ve had a lot of family and friends roll down a hard path. Some I’ve lost and some survived. Now, I’m pretty much straight edge and drinking soda once in a while. I might smoke weed sometime again, but I am better without it for now. I’m 51. 🖖🙂
Since I can't comment on the escape from the zoo video I'm here to comment on this one Since hearing this song when the album came out it hit different, like usually a song that tries to hype you up just makes me feel kinda awkward, but this one really doesn't. Maybe it's cos I've been listening to your songs for so long and it's like, ik that you've been through shit and now you're saying stuff like this and it shows you can overcome it, so it means more coming from somebody I've looked up to. But genuinely has been making me feel better, whenever I've felt shitty about my future (which is my main source of stress, leaving school in summer and starting to face the "real world" and what I wanna do with my life that'll make me happy, if there is anything) I put on this song and it really just makes me feel better. Especially the last bit "You are the jam kid, you fucking got this, life can be a mother fucker don't you ever give in" makes me tear up a little. And the "lifes got quite the lofty learning curve" makes me feel sooo much better about how overwhelming it all is, facing reality, and that maybe I can overcome this learning curve. Hey jesse, not sure if you read this shit or not but I gotta tell you 90% of ur songs have gotten me through the toughest 3 years of my life. I am 38 and was homeless and strung out mostly in seattle but did some traveling from 12- 35 (no joke!). Drugs have been my constant companion, the only thing not to abandon me and recently (the last 5 years or so) they changed how they effect me for some reason so stimulants either don't work on me or just give me anxiety and I've been off the brown for 13 years... but on methadone. Long story long my life was a cake walk compared to getting clean and not having an outlet anymore (i feel like I can only draw on stimulants) and trying to figure out domestic life and hygiene and not trashing my place and divorcing my old lady of 15 years being alone for the first time sucks.... So ur music has helped me more than you will ever know, getting clean is a motherfucker and it is hard to put into words the complex array of emotions that have risen to the surface now that i don't have my buffer but you seem to be able to put into words exactly how I feel a lot of the time right now... this song really gets me though because the only family I have is street family and now getting clean I have to keep a healthy distance so the only people I interact with are normal (never been high) people and a lot of them don't know my background and story so to them I am i lost cause fuck up loser. To them I seem pathologically irresponsible even though I am trying as hard as I can... anyway given that the last grade I completed was the 6th and I went to collage and got a degree in manufacturing and it only took me 10 weeks to catch up on all the math I missed... i am not doing too bad I would think but I am my own impossible critic so that opinion will change with my mood. Thanks and keep it up! Ya'll are perfect and deserve all the success in the world! P.s. you rocked last year with LOC AT NUMOS in seattle! I hope yall can tour the states soon. -Dickalatorre

I don't know how many songs there are that could better encapsulate what support in the folk-punk community looks like. It is beautiful, compassionate, and unabashedly, unpretentiously, incontrovertibly human. This whole community to me has always been about people, supporting and protecting one another, and trying to find a way through this tangled modern life. It really is a process. I've had some awful times, and some triumphant ones. I've been helped along the way, and I've tried to pay that forward to others. This song captures the community beautifully. Godspeed, Jesse.
