Rural Village of Hollókő HUNGARIAN COUNTRYSIDE

We started exploring Hungary in a very special place with strong roots and traditions. And of course we couldn't miss the traditional hungarian dishes.
The Old Village of Hollókő is an outstanding example of a preserved traditional settlement. Located in Northern Hungary, about 100 km north-east of Budapest the story of this village begins in 13th century.
Hollókő is a living example of rural life before the agricultural revolution of the 20th century. Here in Hollókő you find over 50 houses, farm buildings, the church all together in traditional wooden architecture in harmony with the surrounding landscape and natural environment, characterized by strip-field farming, vineyards, meadows and woods.
The area also includes the medieval castle ruins situated on the hill above the village. The rebuilt castle of Hollokő embodies history and charm. Its well-refurbished walls and interiors hold tales and roots of the past of Hungary.

First of all, congratulations for choosing a destination that is considered very extreme by a foreign tourist.
1:02 It's funny to hear Family Frost's refrigerated truck beeping while you talk about old things..
1:59 A traditional Palóc tulip on the house. (The tulip is a female symbol, it refers to creation and the creator. After all, it is the woman who creates life.)
The kalács is only eaten sweet. But you can put butter, jam, or both on it.
3:41 This is a relatively modern roof. Traditionally, the covering is zsúp ( either thick dry stalks of grain or reeds) or shingled. This type of roof tile is called beavertail. This type is no longer in production, so it is also old.
The covered corridor above the house is the tornác (porch). Driveway and storage space.
6:52 vár = castle, although fortes would be better here, since the building is for military purposes.
There are leguminous beans in the palóc goulash. This is not in the normal goulash.
12:17 That part with green tiles is a stove. It heats up very slowly, but cools down slowly. It requires very little wood, so it's very economical, and it even looks good.
