- In this video, Logee's horticulturist and third generation owner, Byron Martin, talks about stag horn club moss (Lycopodium squarrosum). This spectacular and easy-to-grow evergreen houseplant is actually epiphytic. This means it usually grows on other plants, deriving its moisture and nutrients from the air or from small pools of water that collect on the host plant. While it is also known as the rock tassel fern, it is not actually a true fern. Native to tropical parts of Asia and Australia where it can often be found drooping from rain forest tree limbs, it will thrive in humid conditions and can be grown either mounted or in a hanging basket.

I have several of these in my collection now, my favourite is the Queensland black stem. It’s stunning 🌿
She's beautiful and so different!
Gorgeous plant!
I’ve always wanted to grow this species. You’ve inspired me to do it .
Very cool looking plant. I always learn something from your videos. Thanks for sharing.
Love it😍
Very unique!
Not to get confused with the US/Canadian native stag's horn clubmoss or Lycopodium clavatum! Grows outdoors and remains evergreen even in very cold climates.
M a plants lover..I love this plant a lot..thanks for sharing ❤️ love from Assam
Beautiful fern. I’ll had guessed that’s some kind of pine.🤭
Just bought one :) Looking for the Philippines variant
I have many in Indonesia
Can you put it outside in the shade in the summer? Thank you, will go on my wishlist.
Yes, by all means put it outside in the shade in the summer. Growing plants outside gives them a resilience that they never quite achieve when indoors. But be sure to bring them back in when the temps drop below 50 degrees F.
Stag horn sounds like a nice plant, but Uhm on the right of the screen is that a heliconia? it's really having trouble in my home not growing as i would like it to grow.
That
Heliconia is ‘Red Christmas’ that is not a large grower and can be maintained in a pot. It grows 2-4 feet. Grow in full to partial sun and keep it well watered. Blooms winter to spring.
Pls more information
so is it produces good smell like conifer tree ??!
No, Heliconias are not fragrant.
