    MJ vs LeBron
This is a silly debate. Clearly Michael is better. It's not even a close one. But let's go to the facts. Updated after Lebrons 14th season. Michael Jordan has
    •3 more rings
    •3 more final mvps
    •1 more DPOY
    •1 more season MVP
    •9 more scoring titles
    •3 more steals leader
•3 more all defensive team selections
•4000 more points / bron moved past him in playoff points, but it took him longer lol.
    •800 more steals
•Beat 20 50+ win teams in the playoffs (Lebron only defeated 10)
•Jordan never averaged less than 40% Field Goal in the finals
    Lebron did it twice
    •6/6 (never allowed a game 7)
    •Lebron had much more help
•Jordan never had a teammate averaged more than 22 points in the finals..
Kyrie averaged over 28 and DWade averaged more than 26
•MJ never ever had a finals meltdown like Lebron in 2011 against the Mavs
•MJ had more points in the playoffs in less games..
All of this accomplished in 13 seasons
Lebron is in his 14th season still chasing the "ghost that played in Chicago"
•Michael Jordan in the playoffs has put up atleast 40ppg, 5rpg, 5apg in 6 different playoff series. Along with an average of about 55% shooting, 3spg and 2bpg.
(86 vs bos, 89 vs cavs, 90 vs philly, 92 vs Miami, 93 vs Phoenix, 88 vs cavs) Jordan won every one of those matchups except for the 1986 matchup vs the celtics.
•Jordan in 88-89 averaged 32ppg, 8apg, 8rpg, 3spg off 54% shooting. LeBron has never even came close to this stat line.
•in 87 thru 92, MJ averaged 5 straight seasons of atleast 51% FG shooting. LeBron has never done this.
•the lowest FT% MJ ever shot in a season was 78%. Lebrons highest in a season ever is 78%.
    •MJ has a higher playoff FG% of 48.7% to Lebrons 48.3%
•MJ has a higher playoff player efficiency rating of 28.6 to Lebrons 27.3.
•MJ shoots a higher playoff 3 point percentage of 33.2% to Lebrons 32.9%
•MJ also shocked the league by being the first (and only) player to have 100 blocks and 200 steals in the same season, then turned around and did it again the next year..
Seriously this list can keep going. This isn't even a debate. Mj is the GOAT.
Michael in only ELEVEN complete seasons with the Bulls:
    -10 STRAIGHT scoring titles,
-Won Defensive Player of the Year,
    -9 times all defensive team,
    -9time All NBA,
    -5 league MVPs
    -6 finals MVPs
All 11 seasons. Mj has done in 11 seasons things Lebron hasn’t done and won’t do in his whole career...
And before you criticize me for copy and pasting just know that it doesn’t matter if it’s copied or not, truth is truth.
    Check Mate.

Not only all that, but don`t forget all the rule changes and the softening of the foul calls from Jordan`s time to LeBron`s time. The NBA has made SO many rule changes to protect the scorers now that all LeBron has to do is drive the lane and with the current rules, no one can stop him. If LeBron tried that back in Jordan`s time, guys like Lambeer and Parish would just elbow Lebron in the face while he`s driving the lane and just get a regular foul, no flagrant foul penalties back then (late 80`s - early 90`s). Because of the "Jordan Rules" implemented by the Pistons, that`s why the league started giving out flagrant foul penalties. Just imagine Jordan`s stats if the NBA implemented those penalties BEFORE Jordan started his career. Jordan would have at LEAST 2-3 more championships.

    • @RichardRennes
      @RichardRennes 5 лет назад +62

@Danakil Barrett Can you explain how Jordan could possibly be 1-9 in the playoffs BEFORE Pippen? And you say that Jordan had what you consider nowadays a SUPER TEAM because he had Horace Grant(who was a 9.3 pts per game scorer after the Bulls and not playing with Jordan) and Rodman (who averaged around 5.5 pts per game with the Bulls and could literally ONLY rebound). The Miami Heat were at least the same if not better as a team than the Bulls. They had Bosh, Wade, Ray Allen and Mario Chalmers. Then you say Jordan played 15 years and 6 championships. 2 of those years he played UNDER 20 games, and the last 2 seasons he played, he was 39, 40, 41 years old with bad knees, AND he played on a Wizards team that you probably can`t name a single player on that team without looking it up. He played on that team because he worked with the Wizards and owned a part of the team. So subtracting the 2 seasons he played less than 20 games and the 2 seasons with the Wizards, that leaves 11 seasons with a perfect 6/6 in the finals. BTW, did LeBron ever beat a finals opponent by 42? The answer is no. And you mention that LeBron is closing in on more rebounds than Jordan. You DO know that Jordan was a shooting guard and LeBron is a small FORWARD, right? Plus, LeBron has already played 100 MORE games than Jordan(even counting Jordan`s 2 years with the terrible Wizards where Jordan was just going through the motions), and still hasn`t caught up to Jordan`s point total yet. It`s not the total points one gets, it how long it takes to get them. By your definition, if Kareem Abdul Jabbar played 40 years in the NBA and scored 50,000 pts, HE would be the greatest? And saying LeBron will pass Jordan in assists is admitting LeBron has more players he could pass to that could score, hence a better supporting team. Most of what you said supports that Jordan is the greatest, which is obviously true even by your OWN reasoning. And I agree. Jordan is the GOAT.

Jordan didn't go to the Finals until Phil and Scottie got there, and since Lebron can play all 5 positions he's a better bball player. The new thing now is that MJ didn't face the competition that LJ did in the finals.

@Jonathan Cortes Mark Eaton(Jazz), Olajawon, Alvin Robertson and Ewing. 3 HOFers. Eaton was a blocking machine(not much else). So the competition to win that award was fierce. MJ also won MVP that year(his first) he averaged 32.5ppg, 8rb, 8ast. He was the man. If he wanted to he could have probably did those numbers for the rest of his career. Would he have won without Scottie? Bron Bron always had help except for that first finals and it showed. He stunk and the numbers prove it. There is MJ, then there is everybody else...

And Tony freekin' Parker beat LeBron James TWICE in the Finals. And once he was the MVP. Over LeBron. During LeBron's prime (check LBJ's numbers in the 2007 regular season before you reply). That ALONE suffices to end this argument. There's NO comparing LeBron to Michael Jordan.

And there is also another story (forgot who stated this but it's on RUclips) of when Scotty challenged Jordan to a 1-on-1. Jordan let loose and all Pippen could do was say, "Damn, slow down man." That tells me all I need to know.

    • @classyassmothafucka8890
      @classyassmothafucka8890 6 лет назад +3

Jordan was out of an era with no talent. Reggie Miller was the closest thing to a rival to Jordan at the time. The Stockton Malone tag team was also a big deal (against Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman). Compare that to all the great players (or even ensembles) that Lebron has had to contend with. through his 7 year finals run (no particular order)
      Kyrie Irving
      Isaiah Thomas
      Dwight Howard
      Derrick Rose
      Kevin Love
      Dirk Nowitzki
      Steph Curry (and Klay)
      Kevin Durant
      Paul, Griffin, and Jordan
      The Gasols
      Dwyane Wade
      Chris Bosh
      Anthony Davis
      Demarcus Cousins
      Carmelo Anthony
      Paul George
      Kristaps Porzingis
      Russel Westbrook
      Damian Lilliard
      C.J. McCollum
      Lemarcus Aldridge
      Kawhi Leonard
      John Wall
      Zack Randolph
      Tim Duncan
      Kobe Bryant
      Steve Nash
There's 30 players, most of which are better than Reggie Miller.
You can't compare the success of Lebron to that of Michael. Michael was playing on "easy". Lebron has been playing on "very hard"... but has also been far more opportunist than Michael Jordan when it comes to finding team-mates.
Don't forget... As of yet... Lebron has NOT had the equivalent of Jordan's Washington years.
Lebron is on his fifteenth year in the league... That means, this year is the equivalent of Jordan's last year in Washington... and Lebron is still in his prime (supposedly). Lebron has already played 60 games (and counting) more than Jordan did in his entire career... and of the 1136 games he's played... he's started in all but one game in 2008.
Make no mistake about it... Lebron and Jordan are not comparable... and that's the only thing that keeps Michael Jordan in this discussion. By any whole picture account... Lebron has achieved almost as much in a league that is WAY WAY WAY more competitive.

I grew up a Bulls fan....when Michael arrived....Oh my. As any Bulls fan knows, it was amazing to watch those teams, and to us, Michael was a god. Having said that, I don't like how all these comparison discussions turn in to diminishing what Lebron has done. As many have said before, Lebron will go down as one of the game's best, but what he doens't do is occupy the rare air of Michael. They're simply just different cats. Kobe was the closest I'd seen to Michael, but even the Mamba didn't have some of the same intangibles that make Michael legendary.

(Just a Example) if one claims to be a 10 and they're really a 6, then they're a 6, not a 10. Thats not diminishing, its fact. Lebron is awesome, just not what he or media sell him to be. That's all. With the best of help maybe in his career. He was (2-4) and by the skin of his teeth with a lil luck he got that 2 than a 1. Then again with help, went (1-3). (1-2) if you want to discount 17-18 for wtv reason.

For everyone who wants to bring up Steve Kerr taking the clutch shot to win the series, the difference between Kyrie and Kerr was that the play was designed for michael to anticipate the double team, which he did, to set up the shot for Kerr to shoot so MJ still played apart of that clutch possession. The ball was in Kyrie's hands from the beginning, LeBron wanted no part of that play. Kyrie had the ball and immediately went iso, so no Windhorst. That argument does not hold.

LeBrons went to 7 straight finals and has won 3. Michael went to 6 finals in an 8 year span and won 6. Michael won when it counted and LeBron wants to cry about his team needing "better players" when it can't get much better. Jordan played through illnesses and fatigue and LeBron gets a little warmer than usual and he can't play. Jordan would gladly take every clutch time shot he was asked to take and LeBron wants to put the ball in somebody else's hands so THEY can have a 50/50 chance of hitting or missing, instead of him taking control in crunch time. This comparison is by far still out of the question, LeBron is GREAT, sure, but is definitely no Jordan. Don't compare stats, compare overall careers, and you get your answer.

+Tim Green, in the weak East. Kobe in his prime was 28-30 where he won 2 chips with really only Gasol-back to back mind you with Gasol and role players. Dont make it out like his team was all stars. He would have won again if they hadn't nixed the CP3 trade. FACTS. Which would have made him 3-1 without Shaq. Kobe could have been looking at 6-2 finals record. One loss to a great Celtics team and the other to the same Dallas team that knocked out that Lebron lead Miami team. Go look at those rosters in 2007-2011. Please tell me the stand out players outside of Gasol - Fisher/Odom/Bynum these guys are good role players but hardly all-stars. Lebron only won once he got wade, bosh, and then again once he got ray allen (perennial all stars). Then only when he got Kyrie, Love and Tristan. I dont really count Tristan, because he's not really all-star to me. But Lebron has definitely had better teams consistently in his finals wins.

The same things people give credit to LeBron for, they take/took away from Wilt. Who I think is his most direct comparison. Gaudy numbers, physically dominant vs his contemporaries, didn't always perform at best in the clutch/championship moments. Will retire with insane numbers, but people who saw them play knew there's a difference between the 35 you get in the first 46 minutes and what you did in the last two. The fact he's 3-5 in the Finals but people point to stats...how is he in discussion for the GOAT, when Wilt, who AVERAGED 30/23/4.5 and God knows how many blocks (they didn't count the stat until 1973-74) a game, but kept getting beaten by a LITERAL Hall of Fame team in Russell's Celtics (as many as EIGHT at one time), has that used against him?
Bron stans can't have it both ways. If it's about numbers, Wilt won 4 MVP's, put up ridiculous numbers and pushed the original dynasty to the limit, ultimately taking them down in 1967 with one of the 5-6 best teams ever. He also won two titles, including one of the three best teams ever, the 72 Lakers. How does LeBron leapfrog him if it's about numbers (shit, Wilt LED THE LEAGUE IN ASSISTS ONE YEAR!)? If it's about winning, he never touches MJ and everyone knows it. So the goalposts are being moved.
Shaq didn't make the conference finals with Phoenix...he left after 2009 (Suns got back in 2010 when he was with Cleveland...who also missed the conference finals that year). But your point is spot on. I'm a Lakers fan, not a Kobe fan. And the idea that somehow Kobe was 1a is ridiculous. Yes, he could score a lot, but NO ONE ever said James Worthy was 1a to Magic in 1987 and 88. Ever. Shaq was literally the Diesel that made that dynasty go. If you replaced Kobe with McGrady or VC, I'd argue LA still wins at least two titles. If you take Shaq off those teams and replace him with Mutombo or Mourning or even David Robinson, the Lakers aren't winning more than one title. Their dominance stemmed from Shaq's efficiency on the offensive end. Teams had NOTHING for him. You could replicate Kobe's 45% shooting a lot easier with a similar wing, who probably wouldn't have been as hesitant to give the ball to Shaq.

He’s not saying rings don’t matter guy he’s saying Bron jus has #’s & a couple rings thts y he’s like Wilt who is “better” than Russell but Russell is “Greater” because his team won more. So he’s adding to MJ GOAT point. All these other stars have rings on Bron. Dirk/Kidd, Spurs twice, GS 3 times, KD twice. Ok Yu can get a excuse for 07 & 15 but shouldn’t, but Absolutely no1 has ring on Jordan ..oh excuse me the Bulls which Jordan led.

LBJ is a monster when it comes to garbage points. When you look at LBJ’s stats they are deceiving. They look great but a majority of his career points were scored in garbage time.
Jordan’s points mattered and were needed. Someone needs to look at garbage time stats and post. Cause LBJ is leading in this category. Also, he’s not nearly the defender MJ was. MJ was motivated by guarding the best in big time moments.

I always find it funny these commentators that have never played basketball in their life’s. There telling us who’s the best ball player? Really? Jaylin and Chauncey get it. Look if you were not born yet or you were really young and u missed the JORDAN era
That sucks for you. U missed the greatest basketball player ever the
G.O.A.T. Now you get this new weak
NBA with Lebron who is good top 20
All time. But he’s sooo not JORDAN
Do some research on MJ. Look up his accomplishments look at all the numbers watch a lot of film. U will sort of understand. Unfortunately you’ll never get to see him live in person.
I got so see him play against Utah Jazz
No one got even close to blocking him
On a simple jump shot he was that high.
What an amazing ball player. With such
Killer instincts who hatted to lose. He
Demanded the ball he deserved it no one deserved it more. And even after
    His retirement going to Washington
And lacing up once again he still put up great numbers. Do the research you will
    See....

You got a lot of undeserved dislikes on this vid. LeBron is not Michael Jordan. Chasing his ghost shouldn't even be a discussion. I don't think he'll ever take Jordan's spot. LeBron will always be LeBron, a dominate player in the NBA, a freak of athletic nature. But he's not mentally determined enough to dominate everybody who steps in his path.

Word Mike had an iron will, yo I tell people MJ had a mental side to him most of us will never understand nevermind achieve. Yo I put Mike up on the shelf when talking bout the league and winning. Kareem was a beast Wilt and Bill Russel but MJ was a whole nother animal vicious determined not to be denied. If I have to pick a player as much as I love Doc Moses Malone(rip)Zeke and my 82-83 Sixers. I gotta pick Mike his playoff numbers are untouchable ten strait scoring titles etc yo who doing that now, nobody! I gotta take Mike, Doc he did lead Philly to four Finals tho he only won one I'd take him. I gotta take Magic then Zeke see another reason I kinda give MJ the edge he played great D and as a guard he didn't need any one to get the ball to him. He could create better than Kareem altho he destroyed the whole league in his time. I like LeBron but I'm old school I'm rockin wit my old heads...

If Lebron had Michael's mentality, he might well be the GOAT. I watched MJ his whole career with the Bulls, and things like intensity lapses on defence and failing to miss a good chance to be aggressive on offence just didn't happen with him. And although he probably knew full well he was the best, he didn't talk about it, or talk up his 'legacy' - he just went out and did it, in the moment, fearless, flowing, a step ahead of everyone both mentally and physically. Like a lion on the hunt. Sometimes Lebron shows signs that he's self-conscious, results-oriented, not in the moment, playing scared you might even say. I understand his abilities as a playmaker, but how can you be the GOAT if you're not confident enough to be the one to take the shot, if that's what the situation requires? Or confident enough at the line that you know every time you drive, it's basically 2 points gauranteed, on average? ..And as to basketball IQ, what is that except understanding the flow of the play, and making a good decision? MJ was one of the best decision makers the game has seen. If his decision was often to try to score, that's only because he knew it was a strong option. And he could go to plan B in a split second, if he had to improvise. No-one has put it all together like MJ did - the physical, the mental, the guts and the leadership... I hope a better player comes along in my lifetime - would be inspiring to see

The thing about MJ is he has made some bad mistakes but his mentality and the will to improve to give his team a better chance at winning always persevered. There's been times where he just didn't show up... And he realized he needed something to motivate him... To turn that switch on. He would create something that wasn't even there... And run with it. He was so good at this his opponents learned this and refused to go at him. That's how you know theyre on a whole different level, when hall of famers respect you so much that they don't go at you and challenge you. Watching old school Jordan highlights... He even does little things to challenge himself. He will go and take dumb shots... Give the opponents a 5 point deficit and then try his best to comeback being the most aggressive defender turned offense. A lot of his games when it came down to 5 minutes or less and he wanted the win... He just full court presses and is own every pass... Every shot... Everyone's dragging ass ... Tired... Jordan turns up a few notches and looks possessed. He just wanted it more than everyone.

      - 6627 the East has been trash. LeBron can run through it with any team. These Eastern teams have been lacking in great defenders. That's why LeBron has a tough time in the finals the Western teams he goes up against are usually better defensively and have great team chemistry

One thing that irks me that the media never considers when LeBron is racking up stats on a nightly basis is...
*Fact is LeBron had/has benefits and luxuries Jordan never had, which allow him to score points easier at a higher efficiency.* The average fan does not know this so they are being conned, duped, bamboozled and hoodwinked into believing LeBron is better at something than he actually is.
*These extraordinary circumstances must be considered when it comes to LeBron's numbers, especially his scoring numbers.*
Fact is LeBron had/has benefits and luxuries Jordan never had, which allow him to score points easier at a higher efficiency. The average fan does not know this so they are being conned, duped, bamboozled and hoodwinked into believing LeBron is better at something than he actually is.
These extraordinary circumstances must be considered when it comes to LeBron's numbers, especially his scoring numbers.
*1)* Jordan played in a BRUTAL eastern conference. LeBron plays in a creampuff pitiful putrid eastern conference for nearly his entire career. What does this mean you may ask? It means LeBron's statistics are FAR EASIER to come by since the competition level in the EC is borderline atrocious! *Competition and rules changes matter! Do not try to sugarcoat and downplay it!*
*2)* LeBron plays in a wide open, freedom of movement, run wherever they want era, who's constantly surrounded by a multitude of sharp shooting 3 point specialists that spread the court wide open. This creates far more space & room to operate, resulting in opening the lanes like Moses parted the Red Sea, making all stats far easier to come by. On the flip side, Jordan played in a much more cluttered, congested, crowded, restricted lane with far LESS space and room to operate, making all his points much harder to come by.
*3)* LeBron plays in an era of non-physical, can't touch anyone, freedom of movement, run wherever you want, no hand-checking, no arms bars, no checking in the lane, no holding or grabbing on screens and no getting knocked down to the floor in a consistent basis, resulting in all stats coming far easier to come by. This is basic laws of physics. This is NOT rocket science! We do not need an Astrophysics degree at Harvard, Princeton, Yale, nor need a crystal ball to know this! This is basic logic, basic common sense & basic laws of physics! *Resistance makes it harder to achieve statistics, resulting in far less efficiency.*
*4)* Jordan also played in the greatest shot blocking era of all time. Rim protecting shot blockers used to camp out in the paint waiting on perimeter scorers, altering countless shots all over the place. LeBron plays in the worst era of shot shot blocking of all time. The rim protecting center that used to be in camping out in the paint waiting on perimeter scorers is now out at the 3 point line shooting 3's. This also spreads the court wide open, creating much more space & room to operate, resulting in opening the lanes like Moses parted the Red Sea, making all stats coming far easier to come by.
*5)* Jordan played in a slow stuck in the mud league offense during his 2nd Three-Peat run. LeBron plays in a much faster paced offense, resulting in more possessions per game, resulting in more statistics in LeBron's boxscores. The 2017-18 Cavs pace is 97.3 possessions per game. The 1997-98 Bulls were at 89.0 possessions per game!
*6)* Last but not least, Jordan never played with a teammate that commanded a double team. This means Jordan had to carry the offensive load, while being double and triple teamed for an entire career, making all his points far harder to achieve. LeBron does not have this problem. When he gets double teamed, he passes to one of his multiple knock down 3 point assassins faster than a hooker in sketchers.
*These are all crucial factors LeBron-tots turn a blind eye to when debating his scoring numbers. Anyone with 1/16th of a brain that watched Jordan's career knows LeBron couldn't score like Jordan to save his life.*

The main reason LeBron will never surpass MJ is the 2011 Finals. MJ never choked in the Finals and he never got outscored by a career role player! I personally think that the best comparison for LeBron is Larry Legend although if I were building a dream team I would probably take Larry over LeBron. Larry had a mean streak and he would mug his own mother to win. That's always been LeBron's achilles heel is that he doesn't have that type of killer instinct like Bird and MJ always had.
