She's a national treasure! 'Get a ticket...' - she was in NYC late 2023 and the cheapest tickets were $300+ - I was thinking I needed an eye exam but the $cost was real.
@@mjw12345 Did her entire Carnegie Hall Series for that much. Even the recital hall which only has 278 seats was 1/3 the cost for great seats. Were those reseller prices?
I first saw her years ago when she was with the Carolina Chocolate Drops. And I said at the time - see her now while you still can still see her in a small venue. Her success is absolutely thrilling!

I wish people will STOP saying there are no black people in Country and that Beyonce "broke barriers" and started a trend! Rhiannon Giddens, Mickey Guyton, Darius Rucker, Jimmie Allen, Brittany Howard, plenty of others.
Beyonce is a fantastic singer but she's not anything special here honestly. Rhiannon will be the first person to tell you that country music is HEAVILY derived from black music. Hell, anything that isn't European Classical or Baroque music has black influence in it -- which is basically everything regular people listen to. The Blues is black, "the blues had a baby and they called it rock 'n roll" as they say...from that stems everything: gospel, soul, jazz, funk, hip hop, rap -- everything has black influence in it 🔥🔥

Wow. This is way more country than the big charting slick and pop tracks that are sung over with a stereotypical twang and passed off as C&W. More fiddles and banjos please with a little pedal steel guitar now and then.

*For some reason, parts of this song remind me of the now defunct British jazz/rock band Colosseum AND the great British folk music of Fairport Convention, whatever, the song and musicianship on display here is amazing! Rhiannon is GREAT, she's a superb musician and singer. She has a varied catalog of music, she knows her stuff! I remember first seeing her on the 2014 HBO special about the newly discovered, at the time, Dylan lyrics, 'The Lost Tapes". I've been a fan for years. It's about time popular music actual gets back to REAL actual MUSIC (no annoying autotune and a ridiculous Las Vegas style stage show to distract fans the the 'singer' can not sing!)....Rhiannon is definitely real music!*

Actually Rhiannon is very vocal about AA origins in Country music. It was one of the things that inspired her with the banjo. She talks about race. Because blacks were shut out of country recognition. Y'all are the ones who are the racial gatekeepers but don't like being called out on it.
