Had a bullet skim my Kevlar helmet once.... unexpected fireworks still to this day cause me to have the instinct to hit the ground and find cover
I personally know a combat arms officer whose truck got blown up by an IED during one of his 3 tours to Iraq. Who had to deal with relentless mortar and suicide bomber attacks while on base. Fireworks do not bother him and you don’t speak for all veterans.
Hides next to a van, very smart 😂. Makes your hit box a lot bigger considering anything that hits the range of the van will chance you getting hit or blown up
@@hyperion1397 true. After serving 27 years AD and retiring out of my 2nd Iraq tour I feel for those with PTSD but I truly blame it on the relaxing standards and the lacks basic training rigor. I was a drill sergeant in 85 when they started telling us to chill out watched my son go to basic in 2003 and it was like summer camp.

There are military drones that give a ton of Intel just flying around a certain area. We have technology advance enough you should not needs boots on the ground to get coverage.

@@bm9046 I honestly can't imagine being in Gaza. I've seen some of the videos people from Gaza have posted after having to evacuate then the evacuation locations not being safe so they go back home and have to live through the screaming, explosions, hearing the neighbors evacuate, etc.
I can't imagine how terrifying it would be. To be losing family and friends left and right, to lose your house with all your memories and belongings, to lose every location important to you and possibly lose your life is no way to live.

For at least 30-45 seconds, the concussion wave can take that long to reach you depending on the distance from impact to your location.
Get some distance from cars as well. Those become shrapnel bombs very quickly. That short wall is a good choice, it'll help redirect some of the concussion wave.

There are kids in some of my discord groups who live in Israel.. it's scary and heartbreaking when they start posting about going into the shelters again, or they've lost count of how many times they've had to take shelter that day.
One of the kids was talking about the severe anxiety they got (possibly a panic attack from the sounds of it) when they were told to sleep in their room for a night, because since the fighting started their whole family had been sleeping in the living room.
Others in the server are doing their best to talk the ones in the danger zones through it whenever something happens, but what can you say, really? It's awful.

In basic training for the army, before you’re able to graduate, you have to low crawl through sand and under barbed wire with these going off, to simulate war etc. I remember how loud it was, and the sound of gun fire, and couldn’t really imagine at 20 years old actually being in that as a life or death situation. I remember naively thinking, “this is like a video game” because it was just basic training. Cut to now, I’m 29 going to be 30 next month; and to watch these reporters experiencing this in a combat zone just really put so much into perspective.
What’s scary to me is how blue the sky is and how tranquil it looks until the dust and dirt and smoke start to make a haze…a dream literally turning into a nightmare. So sad
Tbh, here we don't even see the sky anymore no one is brave enough to go out there (Except our soldiers).

I just want to say for the off chance that any of you are in this situation. During any IDF(InDirect Fire) try to find a place with more that one barrier and something that will not explode or create shrapnel if at all possible. Walls, gulleys, holes anything like that. Cars can your if there is no where else but if hit they will shoot shrapnel. Houses may seem safe but if they collapse you’ll be trapped inside, so if there is something that resembles any type or trench or fighting hole is best. Just lay flat on your stomach hands underneath your chest and you can even open your mouth in case if massive pressure changes from close rounds. God speed everyone and stay safe.

@@RKLS90 so this would be for larger ordinance or nuclear but it makes it so your eardrums don’t explode. Weather it works or not, I’m not sure but that’s what they teach you. The idea behind it is you won’t have a sudden massive pressure in your ears with no where to go with it
@@timothyjackson2317makes sense, I've been taught to close my mouth and nose and "blow" inwards to even out the pressure in my ears after diving/going through a long tunnel (my ears don't really do that on their own after a fair few surgeries). So the opposite should hold true too, even if it mightn't help much when the pressure is that big
